Beautiful and well-crafted interior design. So many creative ideas and interesting ways to use classic materials in new ways. And fair shipping prices, too. I can only recommend it. read more

Prior to this day, I had not known the story of La Befana, and as there were many decorations of her in the store, I asked my professor what they were. She explained to me that on January 6, the children in Italy receive little gifts from her (if you are unfamiliar with the story, do look it up). January 6 is my birthday, so I decided to purchase a Christmas stocking. While checking out, my professor came up to the man who was assisting me and she explained that I was born on the feast of the epiphany. Upon hearing this, he gave me a discount and then asked me to close my eyes. Within a few moments he returned and handed me a small item wrapped in tissue paper, and he told me not to open it the day of my birthday. I was very grateful on my birthday to open my little bundle to find a Befana ornament. This encounter as well as the gift reveal months later have reminded me of the kindness and beauty of Rome and it's people, and I miss it very much. Please stop into this shop if you are in Rome, for there are some lovely gifts that you can purchase, and they are all handmade. Grazie mille to the kind people of La Bottega di Mi & Chi.

We were walking back to our B&B after touring the Colosseum when we happened upon this cute little shop tucked away behind the Pantheon. This shop is filled with beautiful toys for children on one side, and gorgeous hand-painted and handmade Christmas ornaments and decorations on the other side. It was so hard to choose which ornament I wanted, but I settled on a ceramic one that had the nativity scene hand-painted on it. We went to the register to pay, and were very impressed with the care that the store owner took in wrapping up our ornament. He wrapped it in bubble wrap, placed it in a small box, and then wrapped the box in tissue paper and taped it shut. My main concern was how I was going to pack it on the plane ride home without it getting broken, and now I had no reason to worry. We thanked the store owner with a smile, a simple "Grazie mille" and were on our way. If you are looking to purchase beautiful handmade and hand-painted souvenirs from your trip to Rome, look no further than La Bottega di Mi & Chi!

A stop in this store usually results in half a dozen squeals of glee as I always seem to spot tons of quirky stuff that I just HAVE to have! Visiting this gallery feels like stepping into a private world where centuries of beauty have been lovingly preserved. The moment you enter, the atmosphere shifts. The palace itself is a masterpiece--ornate ceilings, shimmering gold accents, and hallways lined with mirrors and marble. Each room carries the quiet grandeur of a family that collected art not for prestige, but out of genuine passion. That intimacy sets it apart from Rome's larger, more crowded museums. The collection is extraordinary. You'll find remarkable works by Caravaggio, Velázquez, Bernini, Raphael, and Titian, each displayed in lavish, beautifully lit rooms that feel more like a lived-in palace than a museum. Caravaggio's "Rest on the Flight into Egypt" and the haunting "Magdalene" are highlights, while Velázquez's portrait of Pope Innocent X is nothing short of astonishing--an encounter that lingers long after you leave. What makes the experience truly special is the ability to wander the gallery at your own pace, taking in masterpieces without the rush or crowds. The audio guide, narrated by a member of the Pamphilj family, adds a personal touch and deepens your appreciation for the collection and its history. Whether you're an art lover or simply someone seeking a quiet, immersive cultural experience, Galleria Doria Pamphilj is a must-visit. It's a rare blend of elegance, intimacy, and artistic brilliance--a place where Rome's noble past comes alive in the most captivating way.
