Rik is a fantastic disc jockey. He gets everyone dancing and his robotic dancing is easily the best in Manchester!

This is for The Dog and Partridge in Lower Tean, would type that in but it wouldnt let me! This was…read moremy old local! This is a slice of history for you, the pubs recently been taken over by a brewery which is cool but it means there is no charity rock concert(night of the dog) anymore which raised 7 grand two years ago fo air abulance lookily the piss up money made almost entirely from alcohol sales of 800 or so people, none of them had to be air lifted to hospital!!!! if people are thinking am going off on a tangent the pub helped put the show together by providing the beer and cider and other intoxicating liquids The pub is a meeting place for locals or at least it used to be, rock night on a friday would cram the place full and bring in people from as far a feild as ashborne and uttoxetor to get a peice of the classic, somtimes heavy metal rock bands, blues acoustic sets! !!! the bands played in the glass house or conservatory which was later sound proofed to stop one set of neighbours being arses, I mean its not the pubs fault they couldnt sell there house as it was next to the pub, ha ha The glass conservatory was also used for functions such as weddings, other organised drinkings, sunday lunches if ramed! Nice beer garden to the rear is unlit so bring your own tea lights/lanterns and its brill, nice and quite and chilled, we used to plug in a cd player into mini speakers and play over the sound of some shockingly bad dad rock bands. good times, I only hope they havent lost the country feel of the pub by opening the interior up . . . I can remeber when the pub had a wedding on saturday so the band was set up in the old building, it was was ramed as hell!!!some drums had to be moved to get to the bar it was that tight!! brillient atmosphere ARE you LOCAL? he he

This review is for the place as it is NOW and not how it used to have bands and a bunch of drunks…read more We've been a few times now and will keep going back because this place is GREAT! The food is very good and all very well priced. You can get a 20 or even a 40 ounce steak or get some full belly ribs that fall off the bone! There is plenty of choice for everyone! Its never too crowded and even if there is a few minutes wait for a table, the service is so good and mega fast! Jim the owner is a great guy and we hope to try their other place in Derby soon too!

If there were minus stars I would happily give it to them. When asking for a refund on the pints…read morebecause they were FLAT the 'manager' calls over the bouncers who of course make the biggest commotion possible attempting to kick us out all because we know what a proper pint is and we're obviously not as drunk as the rest of the people in there. I for one was not drinking and asked to speak to the manager the oversized lady behind the bar stated she was the manager and what's your problem. ERM a manager would not speak to a customer like that? And definitely should not speak to a customer like that. Attitude was disgusting and professionalism had obviously gone out of the window. To top it all off one of the bouncers then pushed my friend down the stairs not at his own will. this bouncer seemed to have a hazy eye (just so you know who he is) they were very rude, arrogant and abusive about the whole situation. If you want a good night out friendly staff and great drinks do NOT go here as it is far from it. Just goes to show as there are more negative reviews than good with this place I wish we'd have checked prior to our visit and not wasted our money. Worst experience of our life's.

So, there's really awesome bits about Mix karaoke, and then there's some not-so-awesome bits. The…read moredeal, and booking, appeared to be easy - but I'll leave that up to Tori W to explain, since she purchased the deal and organised it for us! It was karaoke UYE number two, and we were psyched to get in and have a right sing. Having downed a quick one at the Angel, we trundled up to the top floor, where the private booths are. And somehow ended up with the huge one! There's easily enough room for 25 people or so in the end booth, but it meant we got to spread out. The staff were attentive, sorting the welcome drink, taking orders and things, but perhaps came in a little too often to clear glasses. I realise they were trying to get more drink orders, but it meant many interruptions to the singing - which not everyone would appreciate. Plus, there's a handy bar you can order from in the upstairs, so no need to even leave! Our booth even had an en suite loo, but shy pee-ople can go in the other loos, just near the bar. Now, the real bind. The song choices! Seriously lacking, and the system was not intuitive! Compared to OK Karaoke, I felt like almost all the ones we wanted to sing were available but not here. No Etta James? No Janis Joplin? Come on! Although, they almost made up for it with the WEIRD videos that had been made to songs that they didn't have the original videos for. They provided tons of entertainment. The booth itself, however, is MUCH nicer than OK. Not at all like a scruffy tired sex dungeon, more like a classy quirky kitsch private living room. I love the gorgeous glass tables, low lighting, and comfy leather seating. Plus, a complimentary bubbly is way better than a complimentary shot of green. So, it's difficult to decide which I prefer! Classy but virtually no songs? Or dingy but all the sings you like? You decide :) But I'm up for a third karaoke outing - I'm liking the fun!
