To become a member of Rileys its costs you the princely sum of £5 for a year. You can sign in guests, but at the price, there is little point in not becoming a member. There's usually a deal on where can pay a little bit more and get a cue thrown in as part of the membership. A well stocked bar, with a good range of beers and spirits at very reasonable prices makes a good backdrop to the snooker hall. They also serve food, which is very cheap - standard stuff like burgers, chips and nachos, but perfect for the surroundings. Rileys have about 15 full sized snooker tables, 8 American pool tables and 7 English pool tables. I normally plump for American Pool, which gives a good challenge and the games are fairly quick, although because of their larger size can introduce a level of tactical play. I am awful at Snooker, I think it must be my failing eyesight, the tables seem huge! Rileys have friendly and helpful staff, and the place is well maintained and tidy. Most tables are rebaized and recushioned every few months. Since the smoking ban, the atmosphere inside is a lot more pleasant too, although if you want to smoke there is small balcony avialable. This is a good place to have a couple of pints before going clubbing or to a noisier bar. The rest of the week, there are chances to grab pretty good and cheap meals. There's the always-available beer and burger deals (£5 for the standard combo or £6.50 for the gourmet version which adds onion rings and bacon). On Sundays, there's a roast dinner option and Tuesdays and Thursdays are steak night and curry night respectively. All the deals include a drink and any of the real ales can be chosen, which is good if you're into your beer!
