    Pork Mofongo

My sister told me that they open this place recently. And we were pretty hungry so we decided to give this place a try. We placed an order on the phone and within 20 minutes the food was ready. I had the chicharrón de pollo with right rice and a side of yuca fries. My sister got mofono con pernil and her gf got baked chicken with rice and beans. I was really surprised how good the chicken was and the rice. The yuca fries were good as well but I wish they had a garlic sauce to go with it. My sister really liked her food, she also liked the fact that it came with a side of sauce for the mofongo. The baked chicken lacked favor even though it looked really good. Overall this place was great. And it's close! I will definitely order here again.

I been down this road before and never paid attention to this place. It's small and never noticed it. It is very clean and the staff/manager was so nice and accommodating. I believe they make their food fresh because it did take a while, so order ahead. I ordered takeout and ate when I got home. The snapper was cooked well but it had a lot of scales that I had to spit out, the shrimp was so good and the rice and beans were tasty. The beans had no meat in it for my vegetarian friends. Thanks Yelp for this find.

I don't find myself in Linden, NJ very often. But when I find myself in cities and towns that I do not normally go to, usually for work purposes or other reasons outside of my own choices, I still try to use the trip to satisfy some of my foodie cravings. I didn't know what I was craving exactly, but I knew that I was going to try a place that had already received some rave reviews from others. And I love Hispanic food, too. So I decided to try Rinconcito Latino Restaurante. Last night I ordered the chicharron with rice and beans. I also eyed some tres leche cake in the fridge while I was waiting for my food to be cooked and decided to get that and some of their drinks. I've always been familiar with these food items, but the apple soda and the chocolate egg cream drink stood out to me as new things to try that sounded really good. I did get an Inca Cola soda as well, which I've had many times before. I could not wait to try the food. By the way, the total was around $20 for the dinner plate, the slice of cake, and three drinks. Not a bad price at all, in my opinion. Unfortunately, the drive home was over an hour and the wonderful aroma of the fresh, authentic food was filling up my car. I was worried that it wouldn't be that good by the time I got home. But when I tried the food, all of my worries disappeared. The food was BURSTING with fresh, well-seasoned, authentic flavor. I have to say that I am used to chicharron being more meat than fat. Yes, they did give me a lot of straight up fat, but all of the pork, whether meat or fat was so delicious and flavorful. The rice and beans were cooked to perfection. And the little bit of pico de gallo they had on the side was truly the perfect addition to the meal. Whenever I am having something that is beans, rice, and meat, I always crave a little salad of some sort to provide a constrasting taste and texture to the meal. The pico did that just perfectly. Don't get me started on the tres leche cake. Tres leche is one of my favorite desserts in the entire world. One problem I have had with tres leche at a lot of places is that it is far too sweet, or doesn't come with enough of the milky liquid on the bottom to really soak each bite of cake. Neither of these things were issues with Rinconcito's tres leche. The cake was close to perfect. It was the tiniest bit sweeter than I would have liked, but that was almost unnoticeable. Just the tiniest bit. But, the flavor, moisture, and texture were all incredible and on point. If this place wasn't located so far away from me, I would absolutely come back. If I ever do find myself in Linden, NJ again, I will make sure to stop in. I was also intrigued by their assortment of drinks, some of which appear to be made by the restaurant itself. The chocolate egg cream drink is one of those, but I have not tried that yet. I enjoyed a crisp and refreshing Inca Cola with my meal this time. Overall, a solid place for some authentic Hispanic food. And the lady at the front counter taking my order was super sweet and helpful - that is always a plus.

We ordered a bunch of food, and everything was just okay. Same for the drinks decent, nothing special. I was actually going to rate it higher... until I saw roaches. That instantly changed everything and made me question the entire sanitation of the restaurant. I've been nauseous just thinking about it. Once you see one roach, you already know there are more and if you bring even one into your home, it becomes a nightmare to get rid of. Because of that, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Cleanliness is the bare minimum, and this totally ruined the experience.

A beautiful entrance with artificial flowers covering the walls, a heart of red flowers. Inside a collection of pottery resembling relics of pre-Columbian times. The menu was limited. I swayed between steaks, and decided on Puerquito, a dish for two. Slow roasted pork, rice & peas, onion escabeche, maduros. Delicious. I had left-overs for two more meals. An iced cold Presidente beer accompanied the meal. Service was pleasant and prompt by a young woman, Dayria. Music played in the background, not too loud, maybe because I was sitting at the front of the restaurant. An espresso to cap the meal was needed to End a good dinner. I left happy and full.

Recently, we discovered that there's a much larger part of the restaurant in the back, accessible through the alley off the main street via the rear parking lot. The space is decorated with Peruvian art and vibrant colors. To start, we ordered anticuchos (grilled beef heart skewers). The marinade is packed with delicious. I honestly thought I was eating steak. I ordered the chupe de camarones (shrimp chowder soup). I cannot stress enough how big this bowl of soup is. They do not skimp on the shrimp! It's probably one of the best chupes I've ever had. I ended up taking a large container of it home. Likewise, my partner ordered the chaufa mixto (Peruvian fried rice with chicken, steak, and shrimp). Always ask for the green sauce, absolutely delicious! Just like with my soup, he also had plenty of leftovers. To wash it all down, we ordered chicha (a purple corn drink), which was so good. This place is known for its rotisserie chicken, so we ordered a half chicken to go for the following day. I understand why it's everyone's go-to here, juicy and flavorful. We don't live nearby, but the food, friendly service, and generous portions of delicious dishes make it well worth the trip.

The ambience is cool and appealing, the music was a little loud, especially during the DJ party. The furnishing is warm. The place has been redone by new ownership (2026). The service was inconsistent at best. Be prepared, they don't serve tap water, just expensive fancy bottled water. The food came out to us with deffering amonts of delay, and they entirely forgot about one of the people's order twice, even after reminding them. On the 3rd time the waiter completely washed their hands of it and claimed ignorance about the placed order, then informed us they did not have the ordered item. When we wanted to replace the order they told us the kitchen was now closed. The person remained hungry since they couldn't eat any of the other foods people ordered. Normally I would give a place the benefit of the doubt, and write it of to being busy, but this was not good!

We sat at the bar. Service was friendly & attentive, food wait times were respectable. Metered street parking on a street that can be tricky to get parking. We had the Cubano Cuban, Beef empanadas, & Coconut shrimp. I also had the 'Renegade' drink. The renegade was really good, I enjoyed the empanadas and their sauce. I wasn't a fan of the coconut shrimps sauce, it was too runny, not solid consistency at all. The shrimp itself didn't contribute much, so the sauce was what needed to bring it home. The Cuban was flavorful, but we both agreed that the pork was dry. I'd give them another shot if invited, but I wouldn't go back on my own.
