I've been dealing with the people that did the install for years and finally just got tired of the…read morelousy job Wa... (maybe I shouldn't say their name). Instead I'll just say that this was the first time in years that system had worked right. Maybe the first time, period. It's been ten years and Wagner (oops!) did the install which is why I put up with years of incompetent maintenance. One small thing that makes that clear was when Skip's dude asked me why I wasn't using the rain sensor and I told him it was my understanding that they didn't work, he simply said, "well yeah, if you don't change the batteries." Being told that they just don't work led me to assume that the sensor used a solar cell similar to those found on path lights. I should have assumed that since Wagner is incompetent at everything else in their spring tune up that they were also too lazy to get on a step ladder and climb 3 feet to look at the sensor. It really was the first time in years that turning the system on didn't make me want to grind my teeth!

Before I hired Skip's Sprinklers, my lawn looked great. Yes, I had a few sprinkler heads that…read moreneeded replacing and I thought, maybe I should hire someone to do that. Somehow, they found 19 sprinkler heads that needed replacement (that's half of all the sprinkler heads that I have), then they quoted me $500 - $600. I agreed and provided them with some brand new heads that I had. They said all of my sprinkler heads, purchased from Home Depot, were faulty so they had to use their own. I offered to pay when the work was done, and they said "no, they will send you an invoice". When the invoice arrived, it was for nearly $1,000, nowhere near the quote I had received before the work began (can yiuy say rip off?). Here's the worst part, the sprinkler heads weren't aimed properly and I had 3 areas of grass that died. Guess what happened next, I refused to pay the invoice unless they fixed the problems and instead of fixing the issues, they sued me. Do business with Skip's at your own peril, or take their advice from the name of their website, just "Skipit".

Tell me, why is my house being skipped? And why the hell has this gone on for YEARS - and keeps happening? Come on humor me with your lame ass excuses.. I'm waiting!!! Plus my driveway was also damaged - YOU WILL BE FIXING THIS! And yes your pathetic poor excuse of a service did it! Mind telling me why I'm being discriminated against? What's the issue there? As an association you have fair housing laws and regulations that MUST be followed. Clearly that is not the case with Charter Oaks!

Still got an invoice for $350. I argued with them that I don't think it's fair to be charged $350 for an inspection. They reduced the bill to $300. Again, that was $300 for an inspection of the lawn. There was no evidence of dethatching. I had to cancel aeration, because I didn't trust the company to actually perform the duties I was paying for. I almost felt like I was duped. Would never recommend to anyone.

Imagine ordering a pizza for delivery. The ordering process is great. You're feeling good about your order, and look forward to the pizza. But: the delivery guy doesn't show up when he's supposed to, the pizza is missing toppings, the extra order of cheesy bread is still back at the restaurant, etc. The point of my story is, I felt good with my initial contact with NorthTech. But when things went wrong, we felt like no one really cared about the problems we were experiencing. "These things happen" is a phrase we heard often. I opted not to pay my final invoice, feeling we deserved more explanation and even a discount. But instead, we got a letter saying our account is being turned over to collection agencies. If you hire NorthTech, be sure you are on-site when the work is being done. I wasn't, and boy o boy was that a mistake.​
