They filed bankruptcy a few years ago and evidently they are still having problems.

They do have a range at the course if you want to try and fine tune your swing - keep in mind there's a fair amount of water on the course that comes into play. It was probably the best kept golf course I'd ever seen and I've seen plenty. So much attention to detail. We almost had the place to ourselves and never felt rushed. We were going to stop for lunch between the front and back 9s but they told us just to select what we wanted and they would bring it to us. My jaw dropped. But it got even better. As we were finishing the 12th hole they arrived with our lunch. They spread out a white table cloth on the green! Then they set down our order and told us to enjoy! They came back afterward to round up everything we'd left behind. Could you imagine that? Certainly the most special treatment I'd ever experienced in a golf course anywhere in the world and I've played many hundreds of different courses all over the world. This was definitely one of the most special highlights of our vacation. On the 12th, 13th and 14th holes which they call the Devil's Triangle as it huts out into the sea, they give you a T shirt if you don't double bogey (or worse) any of the 3 holes. Ha. I made par on the 12th but then it was all over but the crying. Ha! I didn't get a T shirt. But we both had a wonderful afternoon. A big tip here...if you do go to St. Thomas it is just as inexpensive to take "taxi's" instead of renting a car. And safer too. The roads are somewhat suspect in places and they drive on the left side of the road. I've had plenty of experience with that as I drove in Japan for about 6 years off and on. But it's still a mental challenge. While you're there I'd highly recommend a snorkeling "cruise". It's an all day affair and I came nose to nose with a nice barracuda. Nice? He didn't try to eat me. And this one was about 4 feet long (he gets longer every year ). Enjoy St. Thomas if you do go. It's hard not to. And make sure you get a tee time at Mahogany Run. It'll make memories for a long time to come.

So here goes!…read more For kids There is an animal shelter with dogs and cats and specialist who will educate you about the animals. There is a small farm with goats to feed. My young kids were delighted with this. There is a boathouse area with free kayaking, standup paddle boarding and inflatable playground. This boathouse also offers more high-tech water sports equipment for rent. For families There are adult bikes and children's bikes on the resort that are complementary. There are golf carts that take you from one area to another as everything is pretty spread out. For example, from the main gate to the hotel is a little less than a mile. Only two free breakfast are included with Marriott status. So if you are traveling with kids, you have to pay $22 plus tip for their breakfast every morning. They have a few sand toys to share out on the beach. The large pool area does have Shallow parts for children. For adults The beach here is gorgeous though setback many yards from the hotel. The pool does not have an adult only area that I know of. There is a nice but small hot tub. You have access to all of the spa amenities every day as a guest here. There is a small gym next to the spa and a larger gym called the wellness center which is about Half a mile from the main area. Food issues The main issue here as many other of viewers have stated is the lack of decent food selection. Sea grapes is decent but only open until 5 PM. Paro gets terrible reviews and is excessively overpriced Mediterranean food. However, an Uber from the hotel to Rio Grande is not expensive around $10 and they are good restaurants, but you must do your own research. I recommend Los kioskos de luquillo Which have many food options and it is basically a beach party scene better for adult adults than kids. Service and butler service overall were spotty. We were given incorrect information multiple times. Don't forget to take a ton of cash to tip-wish they would include this in the final bill. Loved the ocean view, comfy beds, and spacious bathroom. Overall a nice stay and would consider coming back if the food options improved a bit!
