What a great find. We were in Strahan for three nights and ate here twice. First night we had the salmon curry. It was absolutely beautiful. In our next visit we ordered a selection of starters. All were delicious. The chocolate dessert topped off a lovely dinner. Service was prompt, and staff friendly and attentive. We would absolutely recommend eating here, and wished we had stayed here. Such a beautiful place. read more

Oh so disappointed! We had such high expectations for good seafood at Strahan and the restaurant at Risby Cove looked promising. It smelled fantastic when we walked past in the afternoon to check the menu and when we were turned away at 7 on Monday and told to come back at 8 we thought it must have the goods. The entrées were nothing to write home about (overly creamy lumpy soup and so so spring rolls) but they were edible. The real issue was the seafood platter. The only thing that was truly edible was the overcooked salmon. I could not swallow and of the raw oysters or cooked mussles for fear of getting sick. The fishy smell and taste was overpowering. We don't like to make a fuss however we had to be honest with the lovely waitress when she asked how we were enjoying our platter (not at all). The sad thing was that two other tables also complained about platters (we discovered later) however the kitchen continued to send them out. read more

We had the complete opposite experience to the previous reviewer. we turned up before they'd opened and since it was raining they let us have a glass of wine whilst they continued to set up around us. we too we're there for the seafood, they must have taken heed of the last review because it was flipping superb! Oysters, prawns, a white fish, salmon (grilled, smoked & gravadlax), 2 types of mussels. .. erhm... cant remember everything. The choice of champagne was great too. I urge you to give them ago. read more

Had a lovely stay in a clean and quite comfortable room. Was so nice after the first look at the room we extended our stay by one night! Even with rainy weather it was warm and cosy inside with beautiful views across the cove. read more

We had the Sharing is Caring Price Fixe meal here this week and it was fantastic: great seafood, fresh salad, bread, and decadent chocolate dessert. And the sunset view out the window and across their dock was gorgeous. read more

The previous reviews don't seem to be reviewing the same place as the one I experienced (granted they were a while ago) We had a beautiful calamari starter, and the steak and lamb mains we had were absolutely delicious. The staff were very friendly, and the setting was pretty stunning. Don't hesitate to get yourself a table here, we would be back for sure. read more

Just OK, and quite disappointing compared to the reputation. Food was adequate, pleasant enough but nothing special. Service was indifferent. read more
