A landmark and a nice break from the busy Bury Streets. (AIE)…read more Little frayed around the edges and service started out rough, but it recovered for a calm relaxing afternoon tea. This place had been recommended by the locals as a good first stop on my afternoon tea bucket list. It is just fancy enough to keep you interested, but casual enough to put you at ease. Think i showed up during a rush and an employee break. One person was helping to seat, cleaning and taking orders. He was joined by 3 others about 10 min later. My order was taken out of seating order. Not the worst thing in the world. After he guided away from the children's menu, yes- I confused it for a specials menu, he made polite conversation when he come with the tea. Two teas that interested me were out of stock. Settled for the house blend 2. Enjoyable. Tea tower had a perfectly cooked brownie, macaroon, well toasted scone accompanied by jam and clotted cream, and theme finger sandwiches. The sandwiches were starting to crust, but I suspect they do so much business they are prepped in the morning. Little salt and they were perfect. At £15, affordable and good portion for tea for one. Worth a visit. Note. They try to set all 1-2 tops in the middle tables first. I stayed there, but many locals would move to the wall seats, given half the chance. (American in England)

As far as farm shops go this one was fairly spectacular. Granted it's a bit of a stretch in terms…read moreof reach from Mancy Towers. But if anyone is ever in these neck of woods, I highly recommend you bookmark this place and visit. The Eleveden farm estate has such rich history and as soon as you enter the grounds it really feels like it. There's an air of majesty about it that's evident from the off. The lush green lawns, the surrounding white mansions, the fresh country air and the trees that surround the grounds give it a heavenly vibe. The aristocrats of yesteryear who owned the estate over the centuries certainly made their mark. I was also astonished to find that it was originally owned by A Maharaja Runjeet Singh of Lahore. The farm shop and restaurant have only been around for 8 years but are already an established high class brand in their own right. A gorgeous courtyard is surrounded by the restaurant, farm shop and other which I'm certain is packed during the summer. All in all, this was a magical little visit to a hidden treasure in the glorious East England countryside. If you're ever lucky enough to be in these lush neck of woods, highly recommend it.
