The decor has been refreshed and now sports a more modern and friendly feel. The staff are friendly and helpful. In fact, I was remembered from a previous visit. It's always nice to feel as if you're part of the family. The restaurant serves steakhouse/American style food. On my visit I had a starter of beef ribs. They were fall off the bone tender and absolutely delicious. My main was a slow cooked beef scotch. The steak was a little over cooked for my tastes, but it was tender enough to be eaten. The flavour though! The char and savoury deliciousness that is beef shone through to excess. Any disappointment in the doneness of my steak was washed away by the taste. Even the fat was awesomely tender and flavour full. Over all the experience was very good. The meal wasn't cheap, but it was highly enjoyable in the re-vamped John Pirie dining room. --------------------- UPDATE --------------------- I went back again and had the steak. No problems this time! Perfectly cooked and flowing with moistness. Yum!

Okay, it is located on the main road, and it does have some class about it, despite it being a pub in Port Pirie. One of the things that I did like about this pub was that they had some nice beers on tap, something that I found rather surprising in a somewhat working class part of the state. It also had an outdoor area, but I probably wouldn't call it a beer garden since it was mainly for the smokers.

The roasts were great and the gravy was amazing. Roast veggies were cooked really nicely, just like a home cooked roast. Inside is nice enough, wooden tables and chairs and the dining area is well spaced out.

This is basically one of those classic pubs, but on top of it being a classic pub, it also has some…read morenice beers on tap, which is something that I definitely didn't expect to discover in Port Pirie. Actually, it doesn't look too flash on the outside, but inside it is actually rather charming, especially some of the stained glass windows. They also have an outdoor dining area in the parking spaces, which is also pretty cool, though it doesn't quite have the charm of some places I've been to.
