This is a great place to bring the kids / the dog!…read more There is a picnic pavilion that can be used by two small parties at the same time. I have rented it once before for a family reunion. Talk to the Saline Rec Center if you wish to rent the pavilion. There is a kiddie playground. The sign says "no dogs" but we decided that the rule was because someone didn't clean up after their dog. While nobody else was there, we used the playground equipment for a little informal agility training. Don't tell anyone! There is a dog park with a fence. This is the only place in the park where you are allowed to have your dog off a leash. One side of the park is the Saline River, so if your dog is a major swimmer, s/he might escape the fence by swimming into the river. This is a really huge park. Lots of room to walk and run. The annual Celtic festival is held here.

There's a park that backs up to the fish pond at Saline Fisheries Research Station, and I find it…read moreamusing that it's called Wilderness Park, being that it's on the southern edge of downtown Saline. It's two acres of wilderness right on the edge of suburbia. You'll see a strip of mowed lawn along Willis Road, where it dead ends into Saline Milan Road. That's the northern edge of the park, which goes all the way back to the pond. Park on the street, or else in the gravel parking lot at Willis and Saline/Milan, opposite Fifth Corner. There are two paths into the wilderness. There is a faded map to help you chart your course. The trees are tall, so it's a good place to walk the dog on a chilly, windy day. If you go all the way to the shore of the pond, there are some benches, in case you want to sit and meditate on nature for a while. The pond sees a lot of action: mallard ducks, Canada geese, kingfishers, egrets, herons, etc. Most years, I have seen a pair of swans raise babies.

The parking lots are in good condition, however, compared to the size of the park they are rather small. The neighborhood is quiet where the park is located. There is a mix of play equipment. Some classical slides and 'merry-go-round'. One slide is super tall. There is also a more modern play area. There is plenty of walking space. The ball field is in good condition for baseball and softball. When dry the fields should be fine for volley ball.

The park is within walking distance of the library and also has a small basketball court and a baseball diamond (with bleachers and a drinking fountain). I love that it's so removed from the road--I can let the kids run up and down the hills without worrying about traffic. We spent time here as much as possible.

This does have trails along Paint Creek, but the main focus is on sports at this park. It has softball and baseball diamonds and tennis courts and is used for cross-country skiing and school nature activities. There's also a large playground in it. The park has nice, big, shady pavilions and picnic tables in more sunny areas as well. It's very close to the local Meijer and Target, so if you run out of supplies, you don't even have to get in your car to get some extra paper plates or potato salad.

Pittsfield township also often has fun activities in the park, like Halloween or St Patrick's Day themed walks/"scavenger hunts". Cute little touch.

I took time to walk along the path from the parking lot, past the soccer fields toward Turtle Pond. You'll need to walk about 0.5 miles to see the pond, but it's a lovely respite and seems dog-friendly. One downside is the proximity of I-94 which means that you'll hear the background noise of cars and trucks in the distance. It's not super-loud, but noticeable if you had expected a serene walk. Another downside is that the trail does not have clear signs or color stripes - but you can figure out the main route by using the pond as your guide. Would recommend folks staying in the hotels on the south side of Ann Arbor to give this park a try - it was really nice for jogging or a long walk.

I've been here before simply to walk the paths and sit at a picnic table writing in my journal. I've also been here with a large group that rented a pavilion for a picnic. There are soccer and baseball fields, a playground, drinking fountains and restrooms in addition to the picnic areas. There are big open green spaces where friends have played spontaneous games of bocce ball as well. This particular part of Ann Arbor is rich with parks. Within half a mile are the Swift Run Dog Park and beautiful Lillie Park. Southeast Area Park isn't all that spectacular in terms of natural setting, but it is really nice for recreation and for large outdoor group events. I think it'd be perfect for company picnics or family reunions.

The little ones enjoy the beach entrance and the older ones love the diving boards and swim lanes. There are so many other things to love about GTCC, but the other day I rented the clubhouse for a baby shower and that is my main reason for writing a review. This was a PERFECT rental facility for our event! It is really pretty and clean inside with use of a mini-kitchen, a bar area, a ton of tables, chairs, some couches and also a lot of space. The managers are excellent communicators. They were flexible with our set-up plan and the price was fantastic for what you get! If you are considering this venue you should look no further!
