Staff is kind and patient, wine list is well curated with delicious offerings at a variety of price points (the house wine was delicious and inexpensive). The whole dining experience was a delight...the perfect place for a lively meal with friends or an intimate night with someone you love. They get busy, so reservations are suggested. Our waiter spoke zero English and we spoke zero Italian so it felt like a real welcome to the country. Because I could barely understand what the menu said I just picked a random pizza and hoped for the best. The best is exactly what I got. Certainly what us Americans are use to and I was very confused by the lack of time in the oven but this was by far the best pizza I had. It tasted so so fresh, the crust was light, the olive oil was stupendous, the cheese and meat incredible. I couldn't find a pizza anywhere else like in in my travels and I will be going back to Perugia just to stop by here again.

The wine list had a bunch of Umbrian gems. The waiter spoke a decent amount of English and was able to guide us through the wine list and the menu. He was also very patient with us and didn't rush us to finish our meal despite being the last diners there. We started with the prosciutto de norcia. It was heavenly, especially with the excellent local wine. We then shared the penne alla norcina, which was phenomenal. The penne was perfectly chewy, and the sauce was perfectly seasoned and creamy. The pork chop I had was one of the best pork chops I have had in my whole life. My husband had the excellent local sausage. We had such a good experience our first night in Perugia, we returned to Cesarino the next day as well. Both nights were wonderful.

Yes, it was a table inside, but like I said...no reservations. If you want to dine with the Elite on the Piazza, I highly recommend making reservations, even the same day, they will likely accommodate. Okay...to the meal: Leonardo welcomed us into the dining room and gave us the specials of the day. My wife had the special pasta...Umbracelli with sausage and cream sauce with a ridiculous amount of whole black truffles shaved on top. I had the Bavette steak with roast potatoes and we spilt the Antipasta Tricolor...a delicious blend of fresh sautéd tomatoes and fresh basil pesto with the most magnificent pillow of burrata in the middle of this masterpiece!!! Everything was impeccable. Steak was cooked perfectly, pasta was elegant and delicious, the antipasto was next-level great! And did I mention how completely wonderful Leonardo was? The staff is very friendly, nice and helpful. The menu is obviously very often changed and includes a large "daily offer" section so you probably find often something new on the list. Unfortunately we had a little trouble finding some vegetarian alernative to secondi. The interiour needs a little refining - there is probably not much sense in having christmas lights and holly in beginning of March.. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed it very much and the food and service can be highly recommended.
