Yes an incongruous dish for the Scharwartzvalde but so popular in town that it was booked solid for the 7:00 sitting. Graham combines perfect English being from England and German efficiency having lived there many years. Hint do not sit at the table reserved for daily townsfolk. We were invited by Graham inside where we ordered off the regular menu before the big event started. Tired and hungry after driving many hours it was a delight to sit down to good beer and great food. Had the Spargle in season with hollindaise sauce. Get 1/2 smoked ham half not with it. Pancakes are also traditional. Great Schnitzel too! The owner has quite a sense of humour and though very busy graciously spent some time with us. Excellent Apple strudel with ice cream ended the evening. Highly recommended.

The sauces used in both dishes were very good and made me want to make sure I didn't leave any behind. The schnitzel's accompaniment was a plate of fries that was pretty standard and nothing exceptional.

This place was highly delicious!…read more It's a short walk from the town square, and if the weather is pleasant I'd recommend sitting outside. For my entree I ordered the venison and spaetzle. It was the best dish on the table! Ultra flavorful and perfect on top of the noodles. Also, the fries were perfect dipped in the meat's gravy. Service is slower for American standards, but that's nothing new for the more relaxed European vibe.

This was our third visit to Winzerstuble. Wisely I reserved a table upon our arrival to Gengenbach…read morethat morning. When we arrived for dinner at 2000 the restaurant had only one open table -- ours! The food is wonderful. My wife had maronensuppe (chestnut soup) and putensteak uberbacken (gratinated turkey steak with melted cheese); I had kartoffelsuppe (potato soup) and schwein fillet pfanne (grilled pork tenderloin with spaetzle). I also opted to skip the included salad and instead had a side order of bratkartofflen (fried potatoes) which were amazing. Everything was outstanding. My only "complaint" was the Aperol spritz I had. Meh; I make better spritz myself. So I'll skip spritz in the future and drink local Schwarzwald bier instead.
