We were grateful they didn't turn us away as we didn't have a reservation. They really were too busy to accept our business, but they seated us anyway. Our server was one of only two guys waiting tables for the entire restaurant. It took quite awhile for him to notice us, but once he did, he hustled! Everything we needed, he came through on delivering quickly. I honestly don't know how he did it, the poor guy was overworked! Our food was excellent and came out fairly quickly. The restaurant has an inviting, rustic, charm and diners seemed to stay long and linger for hours. This was one of the better restaurants we enjoyed during our two weeks in Munich and South Tyrol.

A drive into the country took us to a charming village and to the restaurant itself. The owner (Erik?) took care of us and explained the menu in both German and English. The menu is changed quite frequently and is never printed, just chalked up on a board for reference. When asked for recommendations, Erik told me that he works closely with the chef on the menu and that there's nothing on there that they don't both love. After a full dinner there, it's not hard to believe that statement. I started with a sweet potato and lemon soup; while I'm not normally a fan of sweet potatoes, this soup was well balanced between the fullness of the tuber and the sharpness of the lemon, with just a bit of spice (paprika, perhaps?) cutting through it. Pasta served with fresh, white truffles followed the soup and the dish really highlighted the truffles and the wonderfully fresh pasta. A chocolate torte with fresh cream finished the meal. Erik's bar is also excellent. I had a glass of Prosecco blended with white peaches as an apertif, followed by a glass of white wine that the owner recommended, and an excellent espresso.

The salad greens were very fresh, crisp, and flavorful and the dressing was the perfect balance between a slight sweetness and a tangy vinaigrette. The fish was very delicate and lightly grilled; I am not sure what kind of fish this was but it was a light white fish with fresh lemon which provided the perfect balance of flavor and nutrition while not being a heavy meal and as I was very jet lagged but needing to eat, I could not have found anything more perfect than this. The owner offered to fillet the fish for me which was an added bonus as I have been awake for over 36 hours and just wanted a healthy light meal without much effort. We would definitely come here again.
