I visited rite aid recently and was shocked to find empty shelves throughout the majority of the store. I'm not sure if this is due to an inventory issue, theft or something else but the store seems doomed to close. People were picking up prescriptions at the pharmacy but other than that the store is a dead zone. read more

Floor person tells u which aisle but the shelves are empty. The pharmacy says to check with the front desk the lady in the front says she doesn't have any and no point in asking about back stock. Final straw was when my purchase was $13.49...I gave Josephine $13.50. She hands me my receipt. I asked her for my change... she says, "You gave me $13.50." "Yes, I know, it was $13.49" She then pulls a penny from a tray and hands it to me. I don't think I'd return to that awful store. read more

I wish I could give negative stars. We were trying to track down a cough syrup with Codeine that I have a prescription for and had our insurance company call the pharmacist. Our insurance representative said they reached a nice lady and then all of a sudden a VERY RUDE man got on the phone and told her not to call them. We couldn't believe it so I called back -- this was on March 6 at 1:27pm and got the same person at the pharmacy. He was just as completely rude to me and said don't call back about a cough syrup with codeine and hung up. That is completely unacceptable. I was not rude to him - in fact, I barely got to say anything before he gave me attitude. I think I heard they are going out of business and if this is who they hired, I can understand why. Do yourself a favor and transfer your prescriptions out of this pharmacy. Both Redwood City locations are horrible for pharmacists and I'm a registered nurse. I have never had a pharmacy make it so hard to pick up insulin and the syringes that I need for my diabetic cat. This is the closest Rite Aid to my house. The prescription is normally sent to the San Mateo location for this reason, however this morning I ran out of syringes and needed more for my cats insulin injection. Anytime I try to go to this location or the woodside road location they make it almost impossible to buy addition syringes for my cats diabetic administration, when a prescription is not needed for syringes. They will sell syringes to people with drug addictions but they will not give me more syringes for my cat?! I of course know more than the average person regarding prescriptions due to my career in the health field and I have never met such incompetent pharmacists as I have at both Redwood City Rite Aid locations. read more

I dropped by to purchase a blood pressure monitor that was listed on Rite Aid's website at ~$36. The price in store on the shelf was nearly double at $62. When I asked the man at checkout if he would honor the $36 price, he rather rudely said that no, they don't honor their own website's prices. He also asked if I had a coupon to justify paying $36 for an item listed for $62 lol Then I asked if I could make an order online and pickup in an hour per the website's "Free pickup at store in 1 hour" option. The employee informed me that there was no shot in hell I could pick it up within an hour or even today and that if I wanted, I could place an order between now and tomorrow morning and it would be ready tomorrow evening. This is for an item that I am literally holding in my hands and saw multiples of on the shelf in store. I left the store and will never return to this Rite Aid and maybe all Rite Aids in general. I actually have since checked Rite Aid's "Online Shopping Disclaimer" which states: "Our local stores do not honor Riteaid.com pricing or competitor advertisements from outside of a store's local trade territory." Not really sure who Rite Aid thinks they are to maintain a policy like this these days? I only came because it's somewhat of a "local" business that I'd like to support, but I took my business to Target instead to get the exact same item for a lower price and better customer service. We switched to this Rite Aid a few years ago, from the (not great) 24 hr Walgreens in San Carlos. I am surprised by the low ratings in other reviews, as I have had nothing but good experiences with this Rite Aid (Roosevelt) pharmacy. I've had multiple vaccinations there over the years, it was easy to get an appt and they kept to the scheduled time. When we have had little system glitches occasionally with insurance (for example, tonight), the folks in the pharmacy have been very helpful sorting it out. It appears that the senior pharmacist tries very hard to help everyone out, even when it's busy. Anyway, I haven't had anything but good experiences here, and have encountered only very friendly and helpful people, both in the pharmacy, in the overall store, and in the drive-thru line. read more

This review is for the pharmacy. The speed and service are light years ahead of Walgreens in San Carlos. I spend a matter of a few minutes picking up medications at Rite Aid which can take upwards of 40 minutes to an hour at Walgreens. While this Rite Aid isn't open 24/7, I am far happier here than having to wait and ignored at Walgreens. read more

The Pharmacy does a pretty good job, but the store shelves are nearly empty, so don't plan to pick up anything else while you're here. Evidently there was a bankruptcy or takeover, so restocking will take some time. They still do a pretty good job with vaccinations, once you get to talk to someone. There's a sign directing people to another door if you have an appointment, but there's no window there; they finally added a sign saying to knock, but service is still pretty slow. Once you're called in to get the shot, they do a good job, but bring a good because you're going to be waiting for awhile. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to check prescription drug prices on line, and pharmacists are so busy that I hesitate to call. Walgreens has a link to coupons, but make sure that in addition to the coupon numbers that you write down the phone numbers associated with the coupons and insist that they call. Otherwise they will deny that the coupon is good and charge full price. read more

The store has your basics, but very minimum and always out of the 2nd item when it's buy one get one free or on discount advertised. The pharmacy is especially bad, not filling prescriptions on time-even when called in by my doctor. If you need to rely on medications for life support (urgent need or need), this is a terrible Rite Aid. Very sad because they used to be very dependable. Must be management and poor pay. 24HR is great. And this location is bigger than the average in NYC area, a bit more spacious and I like that. However, I never find employees here helpful. They are either not willing to talk or are lazy to help with their legs. People at cashier is always unpleasant. Today's young lady at cashier was way too rude. She was alone there at 5pm so probably had too much to handle(?), busy and stressed (?). Anyways I won't go there again. To me personally, rudeness matters more than bigger aisle. read more

I would be surprised if this location met even the minimal requirements to be a Rite Aid pharmacy. Today, at 1:45pm, the pharmacy was closed, all the gates closed. I asked an employee what was going on and he asked if there was a sign. There wasn't. He went back and after 10 minutes said they were probably at lunch, but he did not know and did not know when they would be back. If they are closed every day for lunch, they should indicate that on the website. The website says they are open 9am to 9pm. Clearly not. On my last visit, I needed to have a mail order prescription switched to the local pharmacy. I gave them the pharmacist hotline for my insurance company, so they could call to override the fill early limitation. When I came back, they had not filled the prescription because they said I was not yet due for a refill. Yes, that is why I gave them the pharmacist hotline number. Then had to wait 30 more minutes. Avoid this location and go somewhere else where customer service is a priority. read more

The response from the owner (Pam F) at Rite Aid is disingenuous at best. Her response is a canned response to all negative reviews, suggesting more time be spent conveying concerns to a generic 800 phone number and/or an email. OK, so I tried calling the 800 number and the automated systems says to press 5 to speak to someone, but then says it is invalid. So no way to speak with a human. And then I sent an email to customer.service@riteaid.com as she suggested but got an email bounce back saying it is not received (see below what I got back). Obviously there is no sincere desire to improve operations. Moreover, the problems with the pharmacy are consistent and clear across multiple yelp reviews. Avoid! Wow. Previous yelpers are really down on this Rite Aid. They've obviously never been to the CVS in Sequioa station, which may be the worst drug store on the peninsula. Good selection of products; They have everything, and the staff on the floor is helpful. I've never used the pharmacy here. With that said...It is true what others have mentioned: The lines for the cashier can be ridiculous sometimes, but it's a roll of the dice. That's their main weakness. read more

My girlfriend just had eye surgery and we researched eye patches, finding a good price online at Rite Aid. I went there and found that it was twice the price in store as online, so I brought up the website price on my phone when I went to pay. The clerk was very condescending and refused to honor the price because the website was not the store. He then said, "Do you still want it?" I bought it, rather than go searching again. I told him it sounded screwy to me and he immediately replied, "Yep," in that same condescending manner. I said, "And so do you." I call that fraud: Advertising one price and charging twice as much. You need meds and the other pharmacies are farther away and only slightly faster and less annoying. The people who work here aren't bad people and their service isn't bad either but going here is like experiencing a Kafka novel in VR. The store is understaffed and so is the pharmacy. The check out process requires 10 min per person. During seasonal holidays (Halloween, Easter, etc) the lines can mimic a refugee crisis. If you have a question, you better ask Siri or Alexa because finding someone to help you in this store is like winning a lottery. And if you do win that lottery, never let that store worker leave to "go check" because they likely won't come back that day. I used the drive thru service once and immediately after had to buy gas and radiator fluid. Honestly, I don't know which is worse, the in-store or drive-thru. I could time it but then again I could also record how long it would take my toe nails to grow...which is probably faster than getting service here. read more

The employee Elizabeth is extremely rude and threatened to call the police on me after I didn't want to physically hand her my id, I showed it to her pulled out from my wallet and scanned it through the POS as required then proceeded with the sale. People don't need to physically hold my id to read it when its right in front of them, especially with the pandemic. Ridiculous. Just do your job. read more

This review is just for the pharmacy: I have found the people who work at the pharmacy incredibly kind and helpful (in spite of some very rude customers I have witnessed ) over the 10 years I have been a customer. However, they are very, very understaffed. It seems like every other time I visit to pick up a prescription (2 refills per month) they are on a staff lunch or have closed early for some unspecified reason. OF COURSE the staff needs their lunch! However, there need to be enough staff to cover the time when the pharmacy is listed as "open". I would hate working here. And I am grateful for those at the store who help me kindly. read more

I'm very surprised that management has not addressed the very poor service of their pharmacy (at least not successfully). This has been going on for several months and they still don't have their act together after trying to absorb the new customers coming from another pharmacy. Management must be operating on the cheap. If you haven't come here to have your prescriptions filled...don't. Have your prescription filled elsewhere, even to a different Rite-Aid location. I don't like being this harsh, but if you heed this warning you will avoid a lot of grief and wasted time. One year later and still a very poor pharmacy. They can't process a refill called in at 9am by 4pm. They are not on the ball and haven't been for a couple of years. When will Management do something about it? The crazy shit I have to deal with... This review is for the paranoid supervisor, whose name I learned is Jim. Jim is a graying, out of shape middle-aged man...as per usual. I came straight in, waited in line and returned a couple of items (sans receipt) and was given a gift card by my cashier, Matt. Keep in mind that Jim is on the register next to me. I go out on the floor (can you tell I've done retail before?), pick up a couple of nail polishes, and am being rung up by Kathy(?). For whatever reason the gift card isn't scanning, which isn't anything new for Rite Aid. At this point the line behind me is ridiculously backed up and Kathy calls for Jim on the loudspeaker and starts ringing customers on the next register. So after about a minute here comes Jim. Doesn't even look at me and flippantly asks Kathy what's going on. She fills Jim in and Jim tries to scan it, nothing happens, she goes back to ringing her other customer and Jim...Jim decides that he's going to FLING THE CARD BACK AT ME. You read that right. A shift supervisor just flung a gift card at me, but it gets better! Then this is where it gets crazy...on his end. So now he's mumbling (can't even be bothered to enunciate his words or string together a coherent sentence) that the card is the "same card as the people before", he "saw me talking to them outside" and that there's "no money on the card - he can't/won't do anything about it." THEN HE WALKS AWAY FROM THE REGISTER TO GO OUTSIDE TO FIND SAID "PEOPLE". For one, I'm alone. Two, if I just walked into the store straight from my car and he's ringing up customers as I walk in, how is he seeing outside? Have paranoid, old, retail nut-bags grown eyes on the back of their heads capable of seeing through walls now? Let's not even mention the fact that you can't confuse me with anyone considering I haven't seen anyone else with orange hair and an extensive list of body modifications at this particular Rite Aid...ever. So he really can't pull the 'Oh-I-must-have-confused-you-with-someone-else' card. Anyway, Kathy asks me what's going on and we both have a "WTF" moment together. He finally returns from his hunt for "THEM" and now I've had it with his crackpot accusations (in front of a line of people no less) and tell him "what's what." He was standing there as the original return was happening no more than 10 minutes ago, was even informed about the transaction, I have the receipt from said transaction that has the last four digits on the gift card in question. So now he's getting nervous and calls Matt. (I'd like to point out that he got huffy and claims he remembered the original transaction but both Kathy and I had to tell him that it wasn't her that rang me up in the first place.) Matt comes over, corroborates "my story" (how asinine is this?!) and now Jim, Jim is in a world of shit. Instead of trying to complete the transaction on another register or even asking to see the receipt that I was given with the gift card, this lunatic decides that he's going to accuse me of conspiring with people I've never met, nor seen so I can buy 2 bottles of nail polish on a gift card... Really? Is this even real life? Everything was finally sorted out but he tried to pull the aforementioned "thought you were someone else" card with an awkward smile and then gave me one of the (cheaper) bottles of polish for free. I'm a patient person, I understand retail, but this...this ladies and gentlemen of Yelp...was bullshit. TL;DR? Tried to buy items with a gift card I acquired not 10 minutes earlier. Supervisor is called over, flings the gift card back at me, accuses me of being in some gift card conspiracy, leaves me to go outside and find "the people" only to come back in and embarrass himself because SURPRISE I have the receipt that goes with the gift card. ...and now I'm going to call 1-800-RITE-AID and complain because the only thing this guy should supervise is his bottle of psychiatric medication. read more

I don't know why I stayed w/ this pharmacy for so long. Okay, truth be told, I liked that it had a drive through and it is just around the corner from my house. That's it!!! More than once, they gave me someone else's prescription, the wait is awful and they lose refills scripts that require more calls to the doc's office. They do not check their fax or VM regularly. This means a long wait while they try to catch up w/ scripts called in HOURS earlier. I moved to Jefferson Pharmacy just down the street. They know my name, fill a script in minutes and my doc's love them too. read more

EPIC #FAIL: I am upgrading one star for the really nice male cashiers & being close to my house. Having said that, I JUST had one of the most unpleasant, leech-sucking, "get it off me!" moments in my life with their pharmacist. Don't know his name, but older Asian guy with white hair. I have allergies & take occasional used-to-be OTC antihistamine several times a year. Went 2 RiteAid on 2150 Roosevelt Avenue, to purchase. Gave pharmacist my license, signed the screen, paid my money. Pharmacist withheld my merchandise. Was treated to a close to five minute grilling on my medical history and lecture on my supposed "bad habits" by pharmacist. What, I'm supposed to move when the plants start pollenating? Bad habits my fanny. My sainted maternal grandather, a master pharmacist is rolling in his grave as I type. I stopped the guy when I realized it was going way beyond "prove she doesn't cook meth with this stuff" and veering into Practicing Medicine Without A License. He was asking questions about lifestyle and family that were NONE OF HIS BUSINESS & damned intrusive. Cashier guy goes: "yeah, nobody likes him much, customers complain a lot". Duh. When dropping off my prescription I was told I would be called when my prescription was ready but of course that didn't happen. I finally called an hour later and they said "yes, it's been ready for a while". We head to the store and decided to do drive thru pickup (which was a huge mistake). We sat in line at the drive thru for 25 minutes because the car in front of us had a "complicated situation". They should have had that individual come inside to sort out their issue vs. making the entire line wait. Needless to say, i will be sticking with CVS, even though it is further. read more

I wish there was an option for ZERO stars! The Rite Aid pharmacy at this location is a joke. They couldn't get my family's insurance updated correctly in their system for about a month. When I called to try and update our insurance for the THIRD time, the man on the phone said he "promised" he would update it. He didn't. Most recently, my son had a prescription we needed filled. They told us that they had to special order the med and to come back tomorrow. Three days later I came back and they didn't have it AND they said I needed to contact my son's doctor to have the order clarified! I contacted the doctor and she said she would call Rite Aid to clarify. The doctor called three times and NO ANSWER! They won't even pick up their phone! I have tried to call three times today as well- nothing. All of my family's prescriptions are being transferred out to another pharmacy. I am done. Oh and I even filed a complaint with the "corporate" Rite Aid office and got no response. Never fill a prescription at this pharmacy- they will waste all of your time. Nightmare. Jefferson Plaza closed and sold to this location. They put you on hold and don't answer when I call to get prescription filled. Waited half an hour. Came to the store and line for 15 minutes. Woman in front of me is angry because was sold something she doesn't want and pharmacist is super rude. Now they are making me wait to have him scan my prescription that I paid for because it looks in their system like it is new for me (renewal). read more

The non-pharmacy part is fine. Actually quite good, as it goes. But the pharmacy. Good heavens, the pharmacy. If the pharmacy were closed permanently, it would at least be predictable, and waste less of your time. I haven't actually had them be out of anything myself, but gods help you if you need refills or insurance authorization or any other communication with your doctor. The pharmacists themselves are smart and kind, but for the rest of the staff, you will randomly get the Slow-Moving One Who Doesn't Listen, or the attentive 20somethings who don't know how to do things, or the older assistant who clearly spends her days tightening the lugnuts on the tires so the wheels don't fall off the car. Rite-Aid is less than a mile from my house, but I drive to a further pharmacy because I got tired of the issues. I used this pharmacy for about a year and a half and they could never get it right. EVERY single time I went to pick up my prescription the quantity was incorrect. I figure I'm not the only one who is getting incorrect amount in my prescriptions, and for me it's not a big deal because I have pretty good insurance. But for someone who has to pay full price for their drugs, they could be getting ripped off. Or worse, if they have such a lack of attention to detail, someone could get hurt. Just want to appreciate Paul and Anna who work in the pharmacy at this Rite Aid. I've been filling prescriptions for several family members here for a couple of years, with the usual pharmacy headaches such as insurance squabbles and medication shortages. Both Paul and Anna go out of their way to try and help, often working to resolve problems that someone else created. And, Paul's sense of humor is an added bonus! read more

The store has a good selection and is much more appealing than the CVS, however ever since the other local pharmacy was busted by the feds, this place has been a zoo. They are always very busy and VERY understaffed. You can't get anyone to answer the phone there and at the store pharmacy you will wait forever- at just about any time of day, at least that's been my experience. They are very close to my home and I enjoyed going there, but given the very poor management, I now get my prescriptions by mail. The retail / non- pharmacy side is better. Not too bad of a wait and cashiers are generally pleasant. read more
