Made reservations about a week in advance because it was Mother's Day weekend, prom season, and grad season. Free parking in the parking lot (though it gets fairly full). I enjoyed the food; however, I think some details were missing or off for the price point. For example, the rib eye was requested for medium temp; however, it was medium rare and very chewy. The broiled ocean platter was kind of skimpy for the price point, and the shrimp & lobster diavolo were pretty good (though lobster wasn't very tender and slightly rubbery). I also wasn't given a pasta spoon- so had slight difficulty eating it. It took quite a while for us to get our food, approx 45 minutes? Our waitress was very kind and checked in- but forgot the lemons I had asked for- for the waters. We had inputted in our reservation request to not be in the center- and we were sat in the middle; though, 80% of the tables were empty. The food is good although not consistent. The hostess is very rude. The shrimp basket here is really good, at least most of the time. I've had it a few times, every now and then the shrimp is undercooked. But the breading is really excellent and I appreciate their using jumbo shrimp. The risotto is not a proper risotto and seafood pasta is too sweet. The calamari and the mussels appetizers are excellent. We came on fourth of july with a reservation, checked in, moved to the side waiting for our table, and watched the hostess (the lead hostess - the one covered in glitter) make fun of the name our reservation was under with one of the bus boys while they thought we werent listening. It was very rude and unpleasant. I understand that this place hires very young adults, but at these prices they need to train better. read more

Crystal is a fantastic server. Portions were HUGE. Had to take a lot of foid home because of the portion size. Enjoyed the vegan burger which seemed like mostly beets and black beans. Didnt mind that it fell apart while i ate it, because that's what homemade vegan burgers usually do. But dont order this messy item on a date. I held the sauce. They let me sub a HUGE side salad for the fries. Enjoyed the vanilla ice cream a lot but not the apple tart. The tart was 90 or 95% cinnamon bun and i could hardly find apples. Fruit tarts are usually more fruit than crust; thats what i expected. Apple cinnamon bun eould be a better description. Beautiful ambience indoors. Had an amazing brunch catching up with friends. The rooftop views are excellent and our server Devin was awesome. She was quick, thorough and checked on us at good frequencies. We only had drinks upstairs but they were lovely. I had the Manifestation and it was simply refreshing. Went downstairs and had A LOT of brunch lol I started off with the shrimp and grits. A group of friends and I ate here last night before going to the T-Pain concert as River and Post has some of the best views and vibes in downtown Jax. Our server Owen was so cute and amazing! She really set the tone with her big smile and personality. I ordered an espresso martini that was strong but so tasty. For my dinner, I got the seared filet mignon medium with mashed potatoes, and asparagus with the bone marrow butter. The steak was cooked perfectly and was very tender. I didn't need steak sauce with this as it just melted in your mouth. The mashed potatoes were seasoned and the Bordelaise sauce that was on top was a nice red wine reduction sauce that was rich and smooth. Everything was so good here last night! Although the weather wasn't the best, we still had to go up to the rooftop and see the view. Love this spot for brunch and day drinking but now, I'll have to add dinner to that now. read more

It's an amazing two-story venue that has the full service restaurant on bottom and a rooftop bar with an abbreviated menu on top. The food and atmosphere are amazing and you definitely feel like you are at one of the most in demand Restaurants in town. During my last visit, I had the shrimp and grits and it was delicious. The thing I loved most is that they didn't skip you on the shrimp! They were large and flavorful. I also added a few biscuits just to try, but to be honest, I wasn't a big fan of those. For America's 250th anniversary we decided to go big and leave home. Unfortunately we went to River and Post. It was our first and probably our last visit. To be fair if you can really cook your expectations are higher. Paying triple price for regular food is not worth the aggravation. But sometimes the fare, atmosphere, event, and the service are epic and price doesn't matter. Had we paid half $150 (two people) it wouldn't have made me come back. I'm not saying the food was bad but it was mediocre. The lone exception was their St. Germaine steamed mussels. I'm talking rob a liquor store to get money $ for more... DELICIOUS! Unfortunately we had eaten half of our appetizer, extracting them from the shell, taking bites of bread dipped in an unctios sauce but drinks were MIA. I even said something to our food runner when he dropped off the appetizer. Our waitress was also MIA. When the woman finally showed up I asked why service was so bad. She said they were really busy. I asked if they had forgotten they had been marketing a special once a year event or rather a once every 250 years event. She was unapologetic when I pointed out they had at least 5 open tables the whole time we had been there but my wife couldn't get a glass of wine! Our second order was seared scallops, beef ribs, and calamari. The sear on the scallops was a little light but they were good. My beef ribs were ok not excellent or memorable. The calamari was not as good as Al's pizza. We shared a bread pudding. It was large but more bread than pudding. It was my first dry bread pudding. We had paid the understandable fee to go on the roof. Of course it was at capacity. The view was good as promised. The fireworks seemed average. I didn't see any clearly patriotic red white and blue bursts. But it was like today, a good day to be an American. I can honestly say our overall experience was much better than the ride home. My wife and I came here on date night and had an amazing experience. We were kind of confused about the whole rooftop part, thinking it was drinks only. So we sat at the bar in the restaurant part and had two very friendly bartenders. It seemed as if all their food was homemade or made in house.. it was so damn delicious! After eating we headed upstairs to check out the rooftop. (you can bring your drinks from the restaurant to the rooftop) Once we got up there the view was amazing! We also found out the rooftop does serve food and it's a different type of menu.. different appetizers and different entrees. I celebrated my 56TH Birthday surprise here! My 23 guests received the worst service of all times! They gave us the wrong or worse food! Either The food came out to us cold with no utensils for serving! The serving size and quality was NOT good! They have fried thighs, they were so hard and burnt and not cooked in the middle!!! Everything we requested on their menu wasn't available! Me the birthday girl ordered the ribs, well... the waitress told me they ran out! SMH Jade was our waitress...she was very honest & truthful to us! They had a pregnant waitress serving us by herself!!! Our drinks didn't get refilled!!!We ordered a hummus platter, they said we ordered the last one! They sat us at two tables advising us once we got there that they would accommodate the large party! When we arrived, they sat us in this VERY small room at two tables! We were early before I reserved time frames! We were very disappointed because they gave us false information!!! The room was a little dusty and dirty! FYI: It is NOT handicapped accessible!!!Everything we ordered the food was wrong and/or spicy, cold overcooked! When I advised her I couldn't eat spicy foods because of the cancer bout I survived!!! The food wasn't worth the money!!! I ONLY enjoyed the FAMILY fun!!! Thankfully! They would NOT seat us together but they charged us VERY high gratuities for each paying guests! This place is NOT spacious and clean! They are NOT very accommodating! And good news, the building has its own parking lot! You can find some street parking, but it was very easy to park in the lot behind the building. At a first glance though, it feels like you're parking at an apartment. I visited with my mom and younger sister. We opted for the rooftop bar which is first come, first serve. As a mother-daughter group, we were pleased to see a diverse group of age ranges among the other guests. It makes it clear, all are welcome. The views were gorgeous. This would be a great place to bring friends as they had large booths. We sat at a 4-top that was perfect for us. And who can resist the aesthetic charm of a plant wall with a neon sign? The rooftop menu is different than the ground-level restaurant, but there was plenty to choose from. We ordered the pulled pork nachos which were tasty. We had never had cucumber on nachos, but we thought it added a fresh crunch! We also got a pizza which smelled so amazing that we dug right in and I forgot to take a photo... it was around a $20 pizza and between the 3 of us, we were able to take home leftovers. Our favorite was definitely the Nuts and Berries which may have been a seasonal drink. It was a dessert cocktail and it was deliciously sweet. Literally off of River and Post in Riverside, this restaurant is not only great for a rooftop view (and pre-dinner cocktail) but has a broad dinner menu that will appeal to everyone. I always, yes always, start out at the rooftop lounge/bar. While the drinks are fantastic, I'd stay away from the appetizers (cheese plate was not impressive to us). After you've enjoyed the view and when you're ready for food, head downstairs to grab a table in the restaurant. Both inside and outside offer plenty of tables, and those of us who are cold bodied do not need to worry... there are heat lamps! This visit I went very basic with the R&P burger with fries. I'm sure most everyone in the Scoop has tried plenty of burger, but when I tell you this was the best cooked medium burger I have EVER had served to me, I am not lying. We were shocked as how perfect it came out. Cooked to a perfect medium and complimented with the best style of salted fries (house fries). My only regret is that I did not take a photo of the burger patty for you all to see. Our service was just OK as our waitress had a hard time with her timing and someone else had to get (20 minutes) our first cocktails. The food was good but not great and I felt a little pricey. I visited this restaurant to celebrate my grandpa's 92nd birthday with my Virgo cousin. The service was excellent, and the food was cooked perfectly. I ordered the Crispy Salmon with honey-miso glaze, rice, edamame, and a ginger-carrot sauce, and it was delicious. Only opportunity here is the price point. You are paying for that atmosphere and service and it's not outrageous by any means but some brunch dishes are better than others. It was horrible. We sat at a high top table and ordered drinks. Got told me could not receive them so we just ordered food. My food came out cold and mushy. And no one came to check to see how our meals were. I had to get up and ask for to go boxes and the check. The host had to ask the bartender to run the card, my server was never to be seen after taking our orders. This was poor and absolutely shit service and I will never eat at this restaurant again. We came here for brunch on a Saturday and arrived just around opening. It's a beautiful restaurant and had a nice relaxed atmosphere. The menu had a lot of dishes I would have loved to try, so I am looking forward to coming back. My sister and I both wanted to try the lemon ricotta pancakes and the lobster Benedict, so we ordered them both and shared. We also added bacon, and Gouda grits as sides. It was more than enough food for us both! There were 3 large fluffy lemon ricotta pancakes, and they were incredible. The bacon is very thick cut and somehow still perfectly crispy. The Gouda grits were great and cooked to a nice, thick consistency. I did feel a bit underwhelmed by the lobster Benedict. It wasn't bad, but to me it seemed lacking in flavor. The tomato actually stood out most in flavor to me. It was a bit ironic that my friend ordered it as well but got no tomato or avocado and she enjoyed her Benedict. I think I may have enjoyed it more with a different pairing flavor or without the tomato. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and our server Emily was super sweet.
