I'm really glad I gave this place a chance Gun store employees are often jerks, but my experience was the opposite -- attentive, knowledgeable, nice and welcoming. Theo was quick and very helpful. Probably the most well stocked diverse selection of arms you'll find in NorCal. Super helpful, very friendly, and very supportive of citizens who care about 2A. The fact that the place was packed as soon as they opened too really says a lot about them too. When I bought a rifle, I told the salesman that I wanted a scope mounted as well. I was told I would need to purchase the rail and rings and it would be a couple days for them to mount it. I agreed and left my gun with them to install. A couple days later, I came in to pick up after installation was done. I took my gun home and noticed there was already a rail in the gun case. After buying one for $35, I thought it would be an easy return for them to take the rail I bought separately, off and put the one I had in the case on. When I called them I was denied a return because the rail had already been installed so they refused to refund. I still have the tools and box the rail came in. If I would have known there was already a rail in the case, I wouldn't have spent more money. read more

No Barrett 416 ammo or magazines but they had .30 Luger which was crazy!; needless to say I bought it all, but it's so great they bring in the hard to find stuff because when someone is looking for it, they'll take all of it. The receipt states return items for store credit decided to go a different route and was denied stating the item was used and installed if it was I would own it but the fact it wasn't showed me they can give two f..is about their customers . read more

Recently Purchased a Springfield XD, it was supposed to come with 4 mags as a special and never received the 2 extra mags , I called the store and talked to the manger Mike. He said he totally forgot to put them in and told me to come back and get them, when I came back he gave them to me with a free Springfield hat as an inconvenience for coming back . Definitely Gonna buy more guns from them. On the same day I left this review, I was contacted by a management level person who refunded me for my purchase and allowed me to keep the item. He apologized and explained to me his side of the event, which revealed that he knew nothing about me picking up my firearm I bought from them same day and that I never left the store after purchase. I really do wish I had been treated like this when this was actually going on, but I am also understanding that during certain times management is in a pinch and can't come and rectify issues between customers and employees. Unfortunately, due to my interaction with this employee not being completely clear with his manager and the fix on the damage on my pistol would be a colossal hassle to deal with and to which I declined, I cannot give a five star rating, but I will give the store four stars after getting contacting me. Hopefully the employees and you reading this learn from my experience and you yourself have a good, if not great, experience at this store. I still will not go to this store, and if asked about it, I will repeat my story to others, including how this manager went out of his way AFTER HOURS to make amends with me. God bless. read more

Called over the weekend with some questions. I wasn't thrilled with the tone or the way the associate responded to my inquiries. Maybe she was having a rough afternoon? I know that all the firearm dealers in CA are completely overwhelmed with calls and customers these days, and dreadfully underwhelmed with shipment and inventory. At any rate, good customer service can go a long way (new business, repeat business, referrals, etc.). Perhaps this store could consider dedicating a personable representative to answer questions and perform "traffic control" for customers on the weekends? If you want to wait in line for 1 + hours every time go here! If you want to overpay for your guns, ammo, and accessories, go here! If you want to shop at a place where your patronage is not valued, go here! My experience at River City Gun Exchanged will be summarized by the 3 major issues: 1. Long lines and wait times: I came in on a Wednesday evening knowing exactly which firearm I wanted to look at. They have you pick a number upon entering and wait until you are called. My wait was 1 hour before I was called up. Same thing when I picked my firearm up on a Saturday, 1 + hour wait. There are tons of people just waiting around in a small claustrophobic store. 2. Half way through the 10 day background check, I noticed the same firearm for $100 less on their website. On pick up day I mentioned this to the clerk (Andrew) and asked if I could get an adjustment. He blatantly disregarded me and proceeded to retrieve the gun from the back of the store. When he came out , I showed him a photo of the ad and he told me there was nothing they could do. I asked if I could cancel the transaction and be re-rung for the same gun and they said there would be a restocking fee to do this. Mind you, I didn't even take the gun home yet. He brought over the manager who made up some BS story of how the background check would also need to be canceled on top of their restocking fee, even if I repurchased the same gun with the discount. A simple adjustment would have been easy for them to do. 3. Their prices are high , even for a brick and mortar store. This goes for guns, ammo, and accessories. Best to purchase all of the above from online and have them shipped to your local FFL . Save yourself money and time. Long story short, I will never set foot in this establishment again. The clerk and manager were condescending and rude. I didn't get the name of the so called manager. Of all my years dealing with firearms salespersons, this place was the absolute worst. Good thing there are review platforms available because people need to know these things before wasting their time and money. I'd rather support a big box store than this shady business. I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile, but there's always a line of people outside! Thought I would check it out today on the way home from work, and surprise!, no line! Walked right in, and was greeted, and helped right away by staff. Plenty of ammo on hand, and I was finally able to buy a couple boxes of .45 acp rounds. I had some questions about a couple of guns I was interested in, and the employees happily answered my questions without being rude or talking down to me like some other places I've been to. After getting the phone slammed on me, I decided to go to the shop because I really wanted to get that ad promo they have on a gun I like. Well, everything actually went better than expected. The first guy I spoke with was soft spoken and easy to deal with and spent maybe 20-30 mins paying for my gun. The second one was cheerful and informative and spent maybe an hour for the paperwork (I had to wait 5 days after I paid for the gun to do the paperwork because my 30 days is not yet up from the last time I bought a gun before this). Then the 3rd guy I dealt with when I finally picked up my gun was efficient and quick (not much talking) and took me just maybe 15-20 mins. Of course, I was just talking about the transaction time, the waiting is not counted... But maybe about 20 minutes for each visit for them to finally call my number. Not bad. Ill be watching out for their ads from now on. read more

Poor customer service, to be specific the old fat Asian guy, he was rude and didn't want to show me the sigs nor tell me what models of sigs they just because I didn't have badge. I had told him prior that my nephew is a sheriff and wanted me to let him know what models they have since I was there. Some salesman don't mark the number served so they had to catch up with missed customers. We went from 3rd in line to like 8th. Unlike other customers that want to tell them their life story and how great their knowledge of guns are; I asked to see that and to start the paperwork on it. After the 10 day waiting period, we went to pick up the gun and the store was magically not busy. The salesman took the time to actually teach my daughters the fundamentals of shooting. Thanks. I can't say enough about the service and integrity of RCGE. I have bought many firearms there throughout the years and always had positive experiences. Two months ago, I bought a used sig sauer on consignment. 2 days after I picked it up, I took it to the range and unfortunately it had many failures and was obviously not reliable. When I explained what happened to the staff at RCGE and asked about my options, they immediately took the pistol back, contacted sig for me and sent it back for repair. They went above and beyond any obligation they had. I just picked the pistol up today and, went out to shoot it, and it performed flawlessly, like brand new. Sig replaced many of the parts and did not charge a dime. The warranty is technically for the original owner but sig still honored it. I'm so grateful to sig and the staff at RCGE. I used to love this place and have purchased several new firearms and done countless PPT transactions over the years. NOT ANYMORE The other day, my friend, my 3yo daughter and I went as soon as the damn store opened at 10am. We waited in line until close to 11:30 and still get in. There were two dozen people waiting in three separate lines just standing in the cold. After having waited almost an hour and a half, I had my friend hold our place in line and approached the heavy set "security" guy letting people in and out. He had disappeared for almost 20min around the corner shooting the breeze with some folks in line, not paying any attention to monitoring the door. He begrudgingly walked back to the door and looked inside. This fool JUST THEN tells all of us who had been waiting since the store opened (and those that had piled up after we arrived) that even after waiting 1.5/2 hrs in line it would still be another HOUR before you got helped INSIDE THE STORE! Screw that, I'm sure they will make plenty of money without my business but I wouldn't recommend anyone patronizing this shop until they pull their heads out their asses and find a better way to manage the demand to get inside. read more

Just took my FSC test and purchased my first firearm in the same day the service was excellent despite being quite busy.

Nice little shop but very slow lines and service. Guys inside spending all kinds of time chatting with customers which is good, but not when you have only 3 guys working with only one cashier station and a line of people waiting 2 hours just to get inside the store... Outrageous prices, double that of normal msrp.... Will not go again, do your research. read more

Just wanted to say coming here the first time I failed my background check and wasn't able to own a gun due to my felony offense but after months and months of court hearings I was able to resolve my case and was eligible to to own a gun. These guys helped me even after I was denied twice they told me what to do and who to call. After my 2nd try I was able to get my first glock 17 with 2 clips, that's was the deal they had when I came in to purchase the firearm. Loved it and wouldn't trade that for anything. Horrible customer service especially from the rude younger Asian guy there As I browsed the selection of holsters to see which size would fit my side arm, he calls out that they have a policy of not touching and I would have to buy what I touched. So I replied that I have to flip them over to see what the sizing charts were. Also that they have no posting of that policy. Then again he rudely, condescendingly announced it. Two things - how can u have a business and not let customers touch items - go to any grocery store or even sporting goods store and u can touch any item even in this pandemic Also how much more rude can u be?! My buddy and I had a similar experience as Adreon F with the heavy set African American. Per another friend's suggestion my friend went to River City Gun Exchange to purchase his first gun. I went with him to help him out and didn't know he didn't have a Real ID. When the gentleman outside asked to see his ID he told my friend to read the sign and get back in line without any further direction. When my friend had additional questions the employee told him to read the sign again and spoke to him very rudely. REALLY DUDE?? What's the point of you being a customer service representative if you can't even properly talk to customers? I told him that we should leave and take our money elsewhere. Sacramento Black Rifle and Sacramento Gun Club would NEVER treat their customers like this especially a first timer. I've only bought guns from both of those stores so I suggested to my friend to go there. We walked into Sac Black Rifle and was in and out and my friend was treated SO MUCH BETTER.
