Western North Carolina is such a beautiful area... and the Sparta/Piney Creek portion is just breath-taking. The RCE community of luxury mountain cabins has captured some of the best views of the New River and the Blue Ridge Mountains, from the incredible sunrises to the east and the burnished reds, golds and rust of the sunsets to the west. The RCE community of luxury cabins run from the part-time rentals to the full-time occupancy. The approaches to the cabins are tucked behind hills and pine trees, and each building has its own personality. There's a large amount of riverfront that is common area for the community, and it's wonderful to see the families take advantage of it with picnics, kayaking, or tubing in the New River. The river is shallow enough (2-6', depending on where you are) that we never worry about the younger kids (~4+) playing in it, and cool enough that the adults love sitting in the inner tubes with a beverage to refresh themselves in the heat of summer. It's about 25 minutes from the nearest town, which is just about manageable assuming you're a good meal planner. If not, your nearest choices are two general stores about 3 miles from the front gate. Unfortunately the club house isn't open for membership at the moment, but there are plans for it to be open for memberships in the future. read more
