Wayne came to my house, Wrote down the information on my equipment so he would in his words "know…read moreexactly what it is"
I told him it was a heat pump and the system was four ton. In the evening, he emailed me that he was going to replace my system with a three ton unit. I thought it was odd since I watched him write down the information on my equipment.
I reminded him that it was a four ton unit, and he wanted to argue with me about that, but in the end he showed up the next day with a four ton unit, so I assumed we were good to go.
For instillation, Wayne did not do the work, he hired a Honduran man and his helpers to do this. They were not careful,
When it came time to turn the unit on, I found out that the unit Wayne brought to my house was not a heat pump.
I brought this to his attention immediately, and Wayne was combative and insisted that I was to blame for the mix up. He said that he had an email where I agreed to what he installed and that would be enough in court.
He would not take the condenser back, and I was made to purchase a heat pump out of pocket.
When Wayne hooked up the heat pump, only heat would come out of the vents.
He started to blame me again saying that I must have broken my low voltage wires when I put sheetrock in my house (four years ago).
We have been here four years and never had a problem with our previous heat pump.
It was obvious that he did not know how to hook up the equipment, or use the thermostat that came with the equipment.
I know this because he he told me that he didn't know and was asking me to google how to fix it myself. He also wanted me to call Lennox, pretend that I was an Installer and get them to tell me how to fix it.
After cutting wires inside my new heat pump and moving them around trial and error, the ac finally came on, but now there is no heat.
I'm out of pocket $10,000
We are left a new heat pump and air handler that has no heat.
Since he would not take back the four ton condenser, I have to try and sell it on Facebook marketplace.
The question I am getting asked is, did he pump it down and close the valves?
Since I am not an ac person and Wayne wont return texts, I have no idea what that even means, or if he did it.
It's possible the unit is worthless and I (an artist) am out $2500 due to Waynes negligence.
I asked him for a receipt so that We can get the rebate on our taxes but unfortunately he is ghosting us.
I have the checks written out to his name and the warranty info, hopefully that will be enough.
Before ghosting us, he mentioned something about coming back to fix it when it got cold and we needed heat. I wont hold my breath.
Doing Buisness with Wayne Carter ac has been a learning experience.
They say education is expensive, With Wayne it was $10,000 plus the cost of hiring someone who knows what they are doing to make it right.
Update, I hired an ac guy to come see what was wrong and how to fix it, he informed me that several screws on the side of my air handler in the attic are stripped, that the hole on my last air handler was a 10" but the Lennox is a 13". Instead of replacing this one part of the duct system they just put tape on it, resulting in pumping cold air into the attic, also the Freon level was low and we had to pay to bring the level up.
I would take a hard pass on doing buisness with this person.
Whatever your project, its going to be expensive. Hire a company with several employees, ask for a copy of the buisness license and buisness insurance before you let them step on your property.
Side note about Lennox, when trying to contact them as a consumer, when I finally did get to talk to a person, they were absolutely unhelpful.
Wayne said that it was "Mr Lennox" idea for the customer (me) to sell the condenser I didn't ask for on facebook marketplace.
Stay far away.
