The newer place is very busy, and caters to playing more than exercising, so going to Crestwood you pretty much have the place to yourself. Typical community centre fitness centre, meaning clean, well maintained, with something for everyone rather than being a specialty place catering to one thing or another. Nice pool geared towards lane swimming as opposed to playing around, and additionally they have a co-ed sauna. Admission includes both the fitness centre and pool as well as racquet courts. Prices are affordable, and the lockers are big enough to hide a body. Dock one star for crummy hours, though it is kinda understandable considering they have to be losing money, since hardly anyone goes there. Dock additional half star because the sauna is not at all hot enough, which is too bad because it's quite a nice sauna. I took a few pictures because I'm not feeling incredibly descriptive.

Located on the far end of town opposite the other community centre (Crestwood) which I also reviewed, this would be the fancy one of the two. The building is fifteen years old, but is midway through a huge, multi million, two year reno. For the time being they offer beautiful pool, complete with kids wave pool area, water slide, diving area, steam room, hot tub, general swim area, and plenty of lanes. This means you're not likely to be bumped out of doing your thing to accommodate lessons or kids playing or some competition. Really great pool, maybe the best I've visited. There's also an ice rink. I'm not much of an ice skate guy, but it looks nice enough, and the Kinsmen, who help fund the whole thing, offer free skating regularly. Really cool. The expansion, slated to finish next year, will add a running track, gymnasium, and 17,000 square foot fitness centre. Can't wait to see it. Prices are fair considering the facility, and staff really friendly. Only knock is shockingly overpriced vending machines, so don't forget your bottle of water from home. And really, that's not much of a criticism, but that's all I can do. Enjoy!

They will help you achieve your fitness and nutrition goals and will help you with your form and  modify if you had a previous injury. I love all the classes they provide as they are never the same and they all push you to be better. Back Alley provides a great mixture of classes with weights and cardio, and with so many classes being provided throughout the week, you are bound get a great balance. All the coaches are great, Colin, Ally, Loriann, Carrie, Mary... They know their stuff. Before joining Back Alley, I went to the gym because I had to, but since joining BAF, I WANT to go and it's something I look forward to. The atmosphere is wonderful and everyone in these classes are motivating and it's nice to feel like you belong and work as a team :)

Other gym members are friendly and most of us have formed quite a little social group (lots of kidding around) with friendly chats. Other gym members are very helpful and encouraging, as are the fitness trainers. One thing I really like is the front desk reception staff. Taenia is always there greeting people as they come in, knows peoples names and as members leave she wishes us a "good rest of the day". She is very friendly, helpful and understanding to chat with.
