Rivergate Mall, a barely functioning relic of the past. What once was the heartbeat of the Rivergate area in Goodlettsville is now a reminder of what once was, but sadly is no more. The mall has certainly seen better days and at this point is just waiting for the impending closure and redevelopment that is due anytime now. In current state, the mall only has 20 active retail stores and two eateries. Majority of the stores are locally owned and branded, however there are still a few nationally recognized stores such as JC Penney, Dillard's, Foot Locker, CITI Trends, Guitar Center and Finish Line. The mall is in rough shape and is honestly a sad place to be at this point. No refresh is coming, but they do keep it fairly clean, even the restrooms were tidy and well stocked. My recent visits, and most over the years, have been to Dillard's or JC Penney. I pop into the shoe stores on occasion, but my trips here are usually very purposeful. Overall, Rivergate mall can still come in clutch when needed. It will be a sad day when it finally says goodbye, but it has done its thing well for the area for close to 60 years now. read more

Rivergate Mall, located in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, is a super-regional shopping mall that opened in 1971. We always come here with B's cousins. We usually visit during black friday to window shop, it's a tradition with B and his cousins. Eventhough it wasn't black friday during our most recent visit, we all decided to walk around Rivergate and get some steps in. If you enjoy different kinds of sweet tea, definitely drop by Oooh Wee Sweet Tea. They use quality ingredients and their teas are super flavorful. Wish we had this place in VA. It's spacious in here and the mall is well maintained for the most part. Employees at the stores are friendly and very helpful. The food court has a nice variety. Restrooms are clean enough. We've never had trouble finding parking. read more

This mall could use a good deep clean. Everything about this mall screams, "failing!" The food court is run down, bathrooms were dirty, kids play area needs to be replaced because it is worn down. I brought my kids here to play and go to a couple stores. We did not get that far because Of the condition and questionable people that were there. One lady kept watching me and my kids at the play area. She did not have kids and kept Getting on and off of her phone. Made me feel really uncomfortable so we left. This mall is your standard mall in just about every way. It doesn't offer the higher-end boutiques of Green Hills. It doesn't boast the size of Cool Springs. It does, however, cover all the basics in a decent way. I don't imagine every saying to myself "Oh, yay! We're going to Rivergate Mall!" but I also don't imagine myself saying "Damn, isn't there anywhere else?" My main distaste for it is that it just doesn't offer anything special in content or decor. If all you want is a no-frills shopping trip for the basics, however, Rivergate Mall is a great place for you. read more

Hello again yelpers! When I was a teenager, Rivergate Mall in my area was THE place to hang out, and that was in the early 2000s and it's a shame to see the state Rivergate mall crumbled into. I think my largest concern with this mall is the sheer lack of quality stores and it usually has vague places that are privately owned as opposed to Opry Mills mall which has an incredible array of stores. I think that the cause of the mall's decline is because of Opry Mills and when they came around, Rivergate Mall should've been torn down to clear all that space for stand-alone stores. But enough history and comparison, I can't really recommend this mall to anyone anymore because their store and food court selection is really bad, nowadays the only good thing about it is (for those that play Pokémon GO players) is there is a double pokéstop and a gym in the mall albeit on separate sides. As silly as this may sound, Rivergate is the shopper's mall. Unlike Green HIlls, it isn't geared toward trendy bluebloods--it's there for people who need a Christmas present for Mom, a birthday present for Dad or a puppy, t-shirt or CD for him- or herself. Hendersonville is currently building a massive shopping complex in order to give the upper middle class a spot to slip away from the riffraff that hangs around Rivergate. And while there admittedly are sometimes a few punk kids hanging around the mall (and occasional criminal activity), it really isn't so bad. Rivergate has a Macy's, a Dillard's, a Sear's, a music store, a pet store, several kiosks with hats and sunglasses, coffee places, a Journey's, novelty gift shops, a bookstore and countless other places to pick up just what you need. So while Rivergate isn't the type of place I'd like to hang around or work at (though I did both in high school), it's the perfect place to get some serious shopping done if need be. It sometimes gets a bit swarmed around holidays and weekends, but weekdays are pretty clear. There is plenty of parking all over the place, and it's only one story, so it isn't exactly difficult to get around. Once the shopping center in Hendersonville opens, this mall will probably lose a bit of business, but I doubt it will ever go under. It's a pretty brief drive from East Nashville (15 minutes or so), and it's certainly a bit easier on the pocketbook than Green Hills. read more

Rivergate is a nice shopping location on the North side of town. I was impressed and well-served here recently during what could have been a nightmare shopping experience. My family and I flew from Houston to Nashville to spend Christmas with family. Because I had limited space in my travel bags, I chose to wait until I got to Nashville to shop for a few items. Hence, on Monday, the day before Christmas in 2007, I drove over to Rivergate from the Hermitage area (I purposely avoided Opry Mills and all its hustle and bustle). The traffic around the mall at midday was light and I had no problem finding a parking space near the entrance to Dillards. The crowds in the mall were not sparse, but they were far from overwhelming and crazy. It felt to me like a normal shopping day, not the day before Christmas. I was looking for lingerie, perfume and a few other items. I was easily able to go to three of the four anchor stores in the mall - Dillard's, Macy's and JC Penny and get 1/2 price specials on some items and excellent help at several perfume counters. I was in and out in less than 1-1/2 hours - a fantastic result for a guy who shops purposely, not just for the sake of shopping. read more

A nice enough mall, and parking never seems to be a problem. It's also a very civil place to shop. I've been in several malls where packs of young thugs took over the mall on weekend evenings. Rivergate has posted standards of behavior that includes adult supervision of children and teenagers. I like that. read more

Rivergate is your typical suburban mall located in your typical suburb of Goodlettsville. Its about 15 minutes up I-65 from Nashville which easily makes it the closest regular mall to downtown. There's nothing particularly outstanding about this mall but there's also really not too many negatives either. Probably the worst thing about it is that its old and very plain. You're not going to find any fancy stores in here but they've got all your basics covered. Its also pretty small compared to other malls in the area but this again is due to its age. There are quite a lot of stores and restaurants that surround the mall area so its easy to make the Rivergate Mall a one stop kinda place. If you're looking for an efficient no-frills shopping experience thats free of gimmicks and touristy distractions this is the place to go. This to me embodies the whole get in get out concept of shopping, if you're looking for someplace to lolly gag you might want to go somewhere else. read more

There was a car that kept driving by during my walk into the parking lot. I felt threatened. When I walked in, it was dirty and not a great representation of the store. This is probably one of my least favorite malls in the Nashville area. It has most of the typical mall stuff but would be the lower end mall stuff. Beyond that the inside is just really bland and the lay out is just awkward. I think the crowd has gotten pretty rough as well. I think i am making a compelling case for why I find this mall to be merely OK. They do have a fun little kids area near the food court that comes in handy in the winter. Love Hollister but this is the second time going in and have immediate bad service. First time we were stared at like if we didnt belong, and just today I went in to pick up an order. I immediately hand over my ID and im still asked for my name so I tell the cashier my name and she walks away. Few minutes later she returns with my package, does what she needs to do and then tosses it to me! I was in shock. I looked at her and said, are we done? Can i go? I've never liked this mall. It's so difficult to navigate. Unless a store has it's own entrance at the parking lot, I will never find it. The small twists and turns and splits off. There is no organization to it. I've gotten lost here more than once. They've got the major department stores as well as all the specialty shops. Their food court is actually pretty impressive too. I'm personally a fan of the Chick-Fil-A in the parking lot. read more

This mall is somewhat sad. For the booming Rivergate area, there needs to be a better mall. There are more people turning in here for the chick fil a close by than the mall. It's a shame because the space is so big and open, could be a wonderful place to do some shopping. Revamp this mall and get it going again! Nashville could use it. read more

Although i have lived in Middle Tennessee for almost 9 years, yesterday i ventured into the Rivergate Mall. Of course Dillard's and Macy's, along with JC Penny are their anchors. However, the mall itself was an embarrassment. Many stores were closed in the middle of the day and many storefronts were vacant. The place almost seemed like a ghost town. I can't begin to tell you haw far this mall has gone down hill. When I was younger I can remember just going down and hanging out on Saturday nights and walking through Sears and crossing over to the movie theater and catching the new action or comedy film that was out. There is no way I would drop my kids off at this place now. Heck every time I walk in the place I feel like a need to strap on a pistol and a bullet proof vest. The mall always seems dirty and depressing. The food court is ok and all the kids stuff is the only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1. Where to begin. A number of years ago, this used to be the place to go and shop. There was good variety, the stores were current and nice and the atmosphere was nice. You could shop, walk across the street and catch a movie and then grab some dinner. That was then. Now, the mall is getting filled with stores that are gritty and like something you'd find in chain shopping center in a rough part of town. The lights in the stores are going off an on and the carpets are wrinkled. The food court is slowly dying and they have removed the carousel that has been there forever and replaced it with caution tape and bolts sticking up where it was. This mall has fell hard and it's only beginning. Once a chain store pulls out, then that'll be the final block needed to finally bring it crashing down. Like the Titanic, this used to be the crown jewel of malls in the area and like the Titanic, it has struck an iceberg and is taking on water quick as it slowly sinks to it's retail grave. read more

Collectively, this mall is certainly not thrilling. In my opinion the best part is Pyramid Cafe in the food court. Jacob serves up a mean baklava! But the compulsive shopper beware, there are no Urban Outfitters, Ann Taylor, Forever 21, H&M, or even Banana Republic. There's simply not a wide variety. Sorry dudes. read more

The mall does not have wheelchairs or electric scooters for handicap accessibility, they don't even have an information desk to help shoppers.
