My Wife booked a couples massage here and it was, by far, the best experience we have ever had with a couples massage. We were greeted warmly by the receptionist who, since there were no other gentleman booked in at the same time, offered the men locker room to us exclusively. The room itself has a sauna, shower, and all the other things one ought to have when getting a massage. Our therapists, Patty and Emili, guided us to the couples massage room and made sure we were comfortable, a menu was provided with added treatments (next time I will take my reading glasses with me). The 90 minutes passed by in a flash and I apparently fell asleep at some point. Great experience, we are going to be back in the area for Christmas and I suspect we will return. read more

I have been a weekly multi-service customer at River's Edge since 2019. It was a nice place to be then. The spa has lost some wonderful people over the years, and we all know, the people providing the service are the ones who make a business special. Kelsey was so welcoming at the front desk and cheerful, kind and sincere. Audrey was probably one of the most skilled massage therapist I have ever received services from. Krystina was amazing giving the most relaxing pedicure. Allie had the most creative eye and style with brow shaping. Jamie was so cheerful and patient with our daughter for her pedicures, we were thrilled to meet her. Those are the staff I/we had services with, NOW THEY ARE ALL GONE! I don't think the owner could possibly realize what a valuable team was there. Why did they leave? I am quite sure, not all were retiring. One could speculate management pushed them away somehow. My second disappointment in this spa is concerning the products. I would purchase a skin cream, lip stick, or shampoo, absolutely love it, only to go back when I was running low, to find it discontinued. What kind of successful marketing could that be? I stopped buying products there and purchased them directly from the vendors . The icing on the cake...... the prices just sky rocketed almost 20%!!! A pedicure was $55.00, now it is $65.00. Why? Cost of Living raises are genuinely 3%. Something has changed over the years, perhaps the owner is more concerned with the profit margin and less concerned about the clients. Either way, tomorrow will end my services there, and I will be looking for something more customer oriented, and less money in the owners pocket. read more

The spa canceled my June AND July appointments and would not provide me with an appointment when I could come in. I didn't have time to get my do trimmed up before my Maine vacation- so I decided to try a salon near our holiday spot. I called up Rivers Edge on Sunday and they booked me in promptly for Tuesday morning. Such a gorgeous little spot - very cozy and welcoming. Emma gave me a stellar textured short cut based on a photo that I had found online. It's absolutely perfect, simple to style, and I've been getting compliments all week long. Their prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of service and the staff could not have been more delightful. Next time I come to Maine, I'll be sure wait until I've arrived before I get a new cut. What a great surprise! read more

This Spa has limited estheticians willing to actually do their jobs. Do not mind the hours of operations because they do not apply to the estheticians. I set an appointment 3 weeks out for my twin sisters birthday, one of which is actually pregnant. It took multiple attempts for my sisters to rearrange their schedules to be able to have this sister date together. The spa did accommodate them by having another esthetician stay 30 mins past the time she was suppose to leave. However, when my sisters called saying they were running 10 mins late they told them they could no longer accommodate them and had to cancel the appointment. My sisters are mothers! This was their birthday present that they had been looking forward to. The spa knew all of this and still dismissed them. These facials were going to be $115 a pop and being an esthetician myself in my past would of tipped these ladies very well. Some advise, you wont make it long in this industry with attitudes like this. Its a service industry and if you cant do that then what are you even doing?!? read more

I've been going to this salon for more than 2 years, and have had the same hairstylist since then, Becca. She's taken care of me with balayages, and haircuts ranging from big changes to upkeep trims. I trust her 100% with my hair, and it's always a joy catching up with her. My mom is also a happy customer of Becca's. While I can't speak about the spa services, the salon is well maintained, with a comfortable waiting area. There's an option for wine, tea, and water. The friendly receptionists are good about calling you a few days before to confirm your appointment as well. read more

I regularly use their services for hair, nails and waxing. This place is absolutely amazing! It is by far the best spa I've ever been to. I like it so much that I feel compelled to write this review. You immediately are shown to the "Divas" locker room. You pick out a locker where you can store your belongings. You get to put on a bath robe and slippers. This spa is good for gentlemen as well. The massage was sooooo relaxing and I walked away feeling like jello. Afterwards, I used the steam room and the private shower. You get to use the shampoos, conditioners, soaps that smell sooo good. It was like I was in my own bathroom, but even better. There was no rush and I could've stayed in the locker room all day if I wanted to. Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend this spa if you're ever in that area. My boyfriend and I got the massage through our bed and breakfast - Maine Stay Inn which is another amazing place. read more

My friend and I both booked manicures and pedicures here and had a fabulous experience. It is a true day spa with a pretty waiting area, fireplace, selection of beverages, etc. Then, we sat in their two massaging pedicure chairs for a long relaxing pedicure while enjoying the most amazing view of the river below. Our manicures were wonderful as well. They were friendly and knowledgeable. And, the use a durable nontoxic higher end polish called Zoya. We can't wait to go back! read more

I was so excited to go and get a mani and pedi, it seemed like a nice relaxful place, boy was I wrong!! My nail tech and I were the only ones in the place, and she talked every min of the hour an a half that I was there, and about herself the whole time! My pedicure was ok, but the manicure was the worst I've ever had! all it consisted if was my nails being filed and citified pushed back...that's all! then I got the shellac manicure which should last about two weeks. mine lasted two days! and I back the next day to get a few redone. I emailed the owner and she offered another manicure, the 1st one was annnoying enough! I would never go back or recommend this place to anyone!!! read more

Went in this morning for a mani/pedi as a repeat customer of many years to find that my appointment had been cancelled earlier this week. I obviously had not cancelled this appointment, and had confirmed the appointment by both text and email prior to coming in. The woman at the front desk pulled over the employee who had cancelled the appointment and it became apparent that someone with a similar (not even the same) first name had taken my appointment. This employee feigned ignorance and made no attempt to apologize. No solutions were offered other than starting from scratch and rebooking with a discount. Seeing as the salon already books out by about 3 weeks, I think I'll find a new permanent solution. read more

My wife and I splurged on 75-min deep tissue massages this past weekend while on a mini vacation to Kennebunkport. The spa is beautiful, very relaxing, with full locker rooms, showers, and a steam room. The massage was perfect, enough pressure to really work out some of my knots and tight hamstrings (and leave me sore for a few days!), but relaxing enough that I almost fell asleep! The service was excellent and everything ran on time, but there was zero pressure to get up and leave once the massage ended. Overall, it is a very well run little spa and I would definitely return. read more

I called this morning for a hair appointment and they said to come in at 3. When I got there, they said I didn't have an appointment and didn't seem to care that there was a problem. When I asked if there was any way to accommodate me, they asked me to wait. So I did. For 20 minutes. They finally said they couldn't fit me in and didn't offer to make another appointment. I've never been to a place that cared less about clients. I only wish I could give them less than 1 star. What a miserable experience. read more

I've now had two massages from River's Edge... My first massage was I went in for an "emergency" massage because at that point I had 1.2g (yes, GRAMS) of ibuprofen in me and the killer neck ache I had had since the morning hadn't dulled even one bit. The massage was delivered by Alex, who knew how to properly fix an ailing neck, unlike apparently any other massage therapist I had ever visited. She was able to stretch out the problematic tendons until the tension actually released with a relieving twinge. Again, something no other therapist had EVER done for me. The second time I went was many months later. This time to save my ailing back after I had nearly thrown it out during a particularly intense recording session: It spasmed and I was worried that, if left unattended, I was going to throw it out and be nearly unable to move (as has happened in the past). Alex to the rescue again: she was able to feel exactly where the tension was located and neutralize it before it led to me being unable to work. Again, as someone who has gone for massages in the past that ultimately didn't rectify the neck/back issues, I can't stress enough just how much of a gem this place is! In addition to having experts like Alex on staff, the spa also has a full changing room with lockers for personal belongings, robes for you to wear as you wait in the lounge area (which also has some complimentary beverages), and a steam room. I'm not a frequent "spa-goer", but I've definitely seen spas without any of the aforementioned amenities so they're definitely a nice touch. They can also give you a document verifying your massage for insurance purposes, if you need to submit it to your insurance company later. Some other massage places may be a bit cheaper, but I've learned the hard way that you NEED to trust your musculature's well-being to a TRUE professional. I have had several services done at the Spa and they have all been "Meh". I have only had to use gift cards and after my last visit I have concluded that I would not go back if it were my money I was spending. I have had two massages there and unfortunately I did not like my therapist. I tried a second time hoping I would get someone different but I got the same person and she is just not that great. I've done a couple of waxings there. Face and bikini. They did an okay job. The nail place in shoppers village does as good if not a better job on the face for a fraction of the price. The last time I went I got a haircut at their salon and a pedicure and it was awful. The haircut was a basic trim nothing to really mess up but my hair was not styled nicely. I needed to go home and fix it which is so disappointing after paying to be styled. She even said I just can't seem to get your hair right which I thought meant she would keep working but she just stopped and left my hair a little weird. My pedicure was really bad. The person doing it obviously did not want to do it. It was really short, the massage lasted maybe 90 seconds on each leg. My heels were not scrubbed. The paint was sloppy and chipped within 48 hours. The pedicure was so bad I was kind of in shock. The atmosphere is nice and the people are nice it just is not worth the price. read more

This place is a gem! I only wish I lived closer. I was staying in a B&B near Kennebunk and decided to check out the town. My hair was in a disasterous state (between hair cuts and I just couldnt' style it) and I wanted it to look great for Ney years Eve. I called a few salons and no one was willing or had the time to take a walk in. I only wanted a wash and blow dry and it was Saturday. I called The Spa at Rivers Edge and was extremely lucky to get Monica. I walked in to a warm, classy and destressing environment. I swear monica gave me a new head of hair. I can't remember the last time I had a wash, blowdry and style that made my hair look as great. She also spoke to me about the drying technique she was using. If I weren't 4 hours away I'd be there ever week. Next time I am in the area I will be visiting the spa for hair and a facial. I cannot say enough great things about Monica and the Spa. read more
