I had scheduled two photography sessions with this photographer. A maternity session, & a newborn…read moresession. 40 minutes before the maternity session was supposed to take place I received an email from her saying she had to cancel. I did not receive this message right away as I was paying for my hair and makeup to be getting done for the pictures. When we arrived at her studio no one was there. She handle this, in my opinion, in an unprofessional way. I emailed her 3 times, and she did not respond until hours later. When she responded she stated that it would not have mattered if she was there to tell me that she had to cancel the session anyway. I disagree. Also she had required $100 non-refundable deposit for the newborn session. Even though my newborn session was not scheduled for 6 more weeks, she refused to refund it. This was an expensive lesson for me to learn.

For a photographer who works with children, I was surprised to find out she was the least flexible…read morephotographer I have ever dealt with. When booking with Kathryn make sure you read her 'fine' print. I purchased an outdoor spring/summer family session with her for me and my extended family which includes small children. When trying to find a time to do our shoot she refused to budge on her 1 hour before sunset sitting time, which unfortunately is past some of our children's bedtimes. We understood and acknowledged her recommendation that 1 hour before sunset is prime lighting, but at this point in our lives we were just looking to capture some family memories and forgo 'perfect' pictures. After multiple email exchanges she finally told me that 'she did not feel she was a good fit for our family and that if she could resell our package she would issue a refund'. I promptly emailed her back telling her that we would take her up on her offer to resell and issue a refund. I have yet to hear back from her, or see any kind of effort on her behalf to resell our package, so she could issue the refund. Kathryn in my opinion stole from me and my family. She 'broke up' with us as a photographer and has kept my money and refused to correspond with me. I have sent many emails, contacted via Facebook and contacted her through her website, and she has yet to respond. I felt that Kathryn was unprofessional in this situation and I will not work with her again or recommend anyone to her which is a shame because she does beautiful work.

It's hard to know where to even begin a review for Alex. I wish there was an appropriately quick…read moreelevator speech that could sum up our gratitude for his photographic genius, calm demeanor and overall awesomeness throughout our wedding process. There was never a moment we doubted choosing Alex. We would choose him again and again and will reach out to him in the future for anniversary photography. Alex has a beautiful ability to capture all the emotions tucked beneath the surface. This is what we wanted above all else. Photography that went beyond the static and the smiles and the posing and the family portraits. Alex does just that. I know when we look back on our wedding images years from now we will be struck with the tidal wave of emotions we were feeling. The tidal wave of emotions that Alex so perfectly captured.

Alex far surpassed any expectations we had of him as our wedding photographer. We were initially…read moreattracted to his unconventional style, use of lighting and the emotion involved in his work. The vision behind his work was made evident to us when we first met him. His willingness to go the extra mile was displayed in our proposal shoot where he hid and captured the moment when my husband proposed to me. Throughout the course of our engagement, Alex was consistently willing to try new things and take risks when photographing us. During our engagement shoot, Alex walked through three feet of snow with us just to get the perfect shot! In between shoots, Alex wanted to catch up with us over dinner and always asked how we were doing or how he could help us out during the engagement process. He truly cared about us as a couple and wanted to invest in our relationship. From beginning to end, Alex communicated clearly with timelines and delivered earlier than promised. He did not cut any corners and made sure that we got exactly what we wanted and much more. The day of our wedding, Alex was such a calming presence, which was much appreciated amongst the overwhelming nature of that day. He collaborated beautifully with our videographer and day of team to capture every detail of our special day. Alex was light-hearted, optimistic and ready to crack a joke right when we needed it. My husband and I would HIGHLY recommend booking Alex for your proposal, engagement, and wedding. He's fairly priced, over delivers, and his work speaks for itself. We booked him as a photographer, but ended up making a great friend. So grateful for the memories that Alex captured!!
