The Pier hotel serves a good variety of tap beers at a fair price, along with the regular range for spirits and pre mixed drinks. And for those who always ask, yes! They will serve you a jäger bomb on a Sunday afternoon. Architecture. This pub is among one of the many beautiful south Australian country pubs. Although unlike many on prominent street corners around the state, it doesn't have a corner entrance door, but rather a main door on the lake side main street. The bar is J shaped which always makes for good atmosphere and makes the most of the natural light. A verandah and raised footpath/balcony wraps the street frontage of the pub, with tables and chairs on the lake side to take in the view. The View. This is one thing many SA pubs struggle with, as it relies on natural features in a state known for how largely flat and featureless it is. The early planners of Milang got this one right. Having the pub situated on a rise on the esplanade overlooking Lake Alexandrina was a decision that continues to pay off today. To be able to sit and enjoy the company of friends while taking in the largest body of fresh water in the state is one of the nicest ways to spend an afternoon on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Our cabin was clean and very adequate for the stay. It was well looked after and we had privacy even though we were around a lot of other people. Oh, and there's no radiation of course, although the resident Clydesdale horse did have it's eye removed from cancer...hmm. Tailem Town Pioneer Village is a 100 year old town, some of the buildings are originally from the site while others are replicas, I not sure that it is entirely historically correct though, especially when some of the 'old' newspapers are from last year... There are twelve streets and about 103 stores, houses and random collection houses to browse. Most of these are blocked by flimsy fencing when you walk in, so you can view the room but not actually experience it. I suggest jumping over and having a browse, you're not supposed to but if you aren't exceptionally uncoordinated or a thief then I say barriers are meant to be stepped over. When I came here as a kid I found Tailem Town quite eerie, which had something to do with the mannequins. My partner and I found this place a little creepy for different reasons when we took my nice and her friend to visit Tailem today. It's run by a couple who live there, we did wonder what it is they get up to at night.. You can go on "Paranormal Night Walks" no idea how much they cost. I can tell you it's $50 for a family pass, where this money goes I'm not sure because the place isn't exactly maintained well. I think the couple sat there counting their penny's for the last 10 years just so they could buy the old Adelaide Tram, which is now chilling out the front.

The whole trip from Adelaide to Old Tailem Town is about 95km. You'll have to drive past the exit of Murray Bridge before you can reach the place(A right turn drive in is needed when you reach..). Now, to explain first and foremost, I'm a sucker for museum or stuff like that. So places like this will be of interest to me because I'll be able to see the 'history' of a culture/place etc. Also, I like photography, amateurish skills though. Never mind, let's proceed on.. Entry cost $22 per adult. I can't remember the price for kids though. Cash. No eftpos available. Once you pay the fees, you will be given a map of the entire place. I read that there's 100 plus buildings there, I'm not so sure myself, but it's definitely near that figure. I'm not gonna run thru what old buildings are there, but you'll be able to find some familiar brands and names in the old town. Pros: -The town is really unique in SA. -Ghost tours are available but you havr to check out the website on how to book for it. (Advise you to book it if you dig ghost tours, coz the stupid mannequins scares the shit out of me even in broad daylight) -Opportunities to take pictures of buildings not found anywhere else. -See collections of goods from yesteryear. Cons: -Must be the lack of funding, but the place isn't all that well maintained. But hey, it's 'old' town, so... -Although there's some signboards explaining the history here and there, you will still find that the information provided can be done alot alot better for a place of this size. -Mannequins .
