I was a patient of Riverside Medical for many years with no complaints about care. However, they have started to charge a $400 annual fee, a "membership" fee. I only found out about it when I received a statement saying that I owed this amount. What?! They say this charge is to offset what might not be covered by insurance. This seems like a cash grab to me. Are they trying to be a concierge medical service? $400 on top of out-of-pocket insurance charges? Ridiculous. I can't keep my doctor because I'm unwilling or unable to pay an extra fee? That insurance doesn't cover? Sadly, I have to find a new provider because I can't afford this expensive, useless charge. read more

I still am a patient at Riverside Medical after so many years. My original doctor retired several years ago and referred me to a newer physician in the practice. I'm thrilled with the level of care provided by Riverside Medical and continue to use their practice. My newest primary care doctor is Jason Thalheimer - a very kind and thorough doctor who spends all of the time you need without any complaint or making me feel rushed. He takes time to explain, in layman's terms, anything he needs to relate. I still highly recommend Riverside Medical, and Dr Thalheimer, as a wonderful group of primary care physicians. read more

Spouse and I have been patients for 37 years. Started charging $400 per person to be able to go. Not even concierge service. Haven't seen our new PCP and ran out of Atorvastatin. They would not send in an electronic request for NECESSARY medication. The practice is no longer concerned with your health during the transition if you don't pay. Just drops you like a hot potato. Disgusting. Never thought a medical practice could do that to you. Follow-up: I actually just left a voice mail once again requesting meds and they did send request to pharmacy. Took 3 attempts but got done. Sad to be leaving the practice but can't afford the fee. One last remark; when they announced the changes there was no direction on how to get records sent. Just feel like if we didn't pay we were very tossed aside actually. read more

My wife and I along with many family members are patients at Riverside Medical. My primary care doctor is Dr Flershem who is an amazing doctor. We understand that to keep pace in health care it is necessary for Riverside Medical to charge the $400 membership fee to combat big increases in health care costs for staff along with reduced reimbursements from insurance companies. I face many of the same problems where I work. We would much rather have access to Dr Flershem and remain confident in our medical care for a small price. Dr Flershem has solved many health care problems for me personally and I would feel lost without her medical guidance. We also love the staff who always treat you with kindness and respect. I am glad they have remained independent and not sold out to a big health care company which would change everything. This was an easy decision for us as we value our relationship with Dr Flershem and the staff at Riverside and want to continue to get the best health care. read more

I'm new to the area and I've been here twice so far for an annual physical and then for another issue. Going to the doctor is never fun but they do a good job of making it as painless as possible. Everyone is very friendly and extremely professional. Dr. Propes is very attentive and kind. I'm sure the other Doctors are too but he is who I see and would gladly recommend him to anyone. As we get older, some of our issues get more awkward and he does an excellent job putting his patients at ease and explains things very clearly. I'm also appreciative that they were able to work me in very quickly for my visit. I called when they opened in the morning and they were able to take me that afternoon and resolved my issue quickly. We've been coming to the practice since 1990. We can't say enough good things about them. Some of the original doctors have retired but they've hired the next generation of doctors to continue with our healthcare. The staff is so hardworking. It's a busy practice and there's not one lazy employee in that building. All of our other physicians, the specialists we see, have all sold their practices to the hospital and this practice remained independent. It's not corporate America, like the hospital owned doctors are now. They treat us like family. They know of our children and our grandchildren. As usual, Office staff is not friendly or accommodating at all. DRS are good. The copay they struggle to understand the Insurance aspect and still try to charge you $100 even though I called CIGNA and confirmed prior to walking in the door I had no copay. Been going here for close to 15 years. Riverside has always been great to me. The staff has always been very friendly, knows me by name and says hello when they see me in the hallway. No other doctors office have I ever been to that gets you your results the same day or next day. Most places make you wait weeks or go back in just to hear results. I have been a patient of Riverside Medical (Dr. Flershem) for years. I think Dr. Flershem is a tremendous doctor. But I was extremely disappointed recently when I went for my annual physical, which should be $0 according to my insurance carrier, and Riverside Medical also checked the box for an "office visit" so they could require a copay. They said it was because the doctor talked to me about my existing conditions. It's unclear to me why that would not be included in an annual physical, and my insurance company agreed. I know other family members who have had the same experience. I think that is unethical for them to do that just to get a little extra money, and it makes me think twice about whether I continue to want to go there. read more

I was seeing a female P.A. There for yearly gyne exams. She moved out of state. Their only other female doctor was not taking new patients in 2018 & I was told by the staff that none of the male doctors would do a gyne exam! That made their practice useless to me, so I left. Am giving it an additional star because they have their own rehab/PTs in the office next door, which was very convenient. read more

I started going to Riverside Medical because it was the practice that my wife was using. My experience there has been so much better that how I was treated at my last two practices. For example, recently 3 of my children were diagnosed with strep at their pediatrician and I was able to call and get a strep test by a PA that day. At my previous practice I was told that I could not come in to see the Doctor for that test for 6 days. They also have an excellent physical therapy dept on site which got me past back issues that I had been seeing a chiropractor for over a year. read more

Riverside was recommended to me by a friend. It's close enough to work, it's within my insurance plan, so I gave it a shot. The facilities itself aren't fancy; looks like a repurposed office building. Seems like the main clientele are elderly people, at least that's the crowd I've seen when in the waiting room. I'd recommend the doctor I saw, Dr. Peggy Fruhbauer. She's very professional and straight to the point. She's not the warmest or most empathizing person you'll meet, but this is a doctor giving medical advice and not your buddy so I respect that. If you need a physical or routine checkup, Riverside is good. read more

She is incredibly thorough and a real problem solver. And when she is not immediately available, other members of the team stand at the ready. Riverside is convenient and I trust their medical staff, I've been going for 11 years. I stopped going to Riverside because the billing department is horrible, every single time I had an appointment the billing department would manage to either over charge or not mark my payments as paid so I would be getting over due notices. Not to mention the one time I had an appointment and was told I couldn't see my doctor unless I paid my balance, I was shocked because I didn't recall having a balance, turns out I paid my Dad's balance on his account. I'm not exaggerating when I say every single time I have an appointment I have to correct a billing issue, not to mention no apologies ever from the billing manager which is thee reason I left. I have been going to this practice for a few years now, never had any real issues, Dr Pride is a great person and a good Dr and the staff has been fine. Today however I may be looking for a new practice. This is primarily due to the receptionist, her attitude and uncaring manner (think wicked witch of the west). I was 13 minutes late for an appt. today, yes 13 mins. I can't remember the last time I went to any Dr's office and was seen on time by any Dr., it kind of goes without saying and we all accept this... Well, walking in 13 mins late you would think I was the IRS come to audit. "Sorry, you COMPLETELY missed your appointment, you'll have to reschedule or wait to see a PA at 3:15 (two hours later), sorry, the Dr's are busy you know, etc..etc..." Also, there was NOBODY in the waiting room waiting, no one, zilch, didn't appear to have a currrent flu outbreak that needing attending to like maybe in Jan, this is July. I left work and drove half an hour to get there and this is how I'm treated after using their practice for over 3 yrs? That's not how I treat my clients or I wouldn't have any. I will be looking for friendlier confines. There are plenty of good doctors around and hopefully some with better staff. When you don't feel well the last thing you need is an unfriendly, uncaring face reprimanding you like you did something wrong in 6th grade gym class and you need detention and punishment. read more

I recently needed some international medical forms filled out. I had previously been to see Dr James Pride many months ago (great doc!), and I was hoping I could just have the forms completed, signed, and I'd be on my way. "Kris" at the front desk, along with several of the other gals, were very warm and welcoming. They did a fantastic job of trying to work with me and minimize my inconvenience. They even have a notary on staff. Eventually it turned out I needed some additional blood work performed, but they prioritized me through the system and P.A. Fillmore took the time to carefully review all my forms with me, asked lots of good questions, and promised to have everything ready for me ASAP. 48hrs later, I received a call saying all was well and I could come retrieve my notarized documents at my leisure. I started going here after retirement on recommendation of my brother in law, he has been going for nearly 15 yrs.. One must realize that this is predominantly a geriatric practice.I saw Dr. Pride who was as thorough as any doctor I had had before. I have always been treated with respect and courtesy. I have linked all my other Doctors to his practice and never have to bring any results as they have them when I do. This could not be easier and I always get the appt. time I request and with the on site lab a second trip is unnecessary . Additionally I live several miles away so I cycle there weather permitting. on a side note Dr. Pride son died of childhood cancer and there is a fund set up in his name, so congratulations for that. read more

I was without a primary MD for several years after college and didn't really need one until I started having some G.I. issues. I had never in my life had a profoundly negative experience with any medical professional until Riverside Medical (I'm 30). I found R.M. because it was near to where I worked and had a gastroenterologist, Eric Yegelwel. I also saw Daniel L. Goldstein. I had a total of 5 office visits over a 2.5 month period. The office office communication between doctor and staff isn't always great, but the staff works hard to meet your requests and rectify mistakes. The most troubling experience I had that anyone considering going to this practice must know is that the type of care you will receive is highly impersonal and lacking in two way communication and possibly medical expertise. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease by Yegelwel. When diagnosed, I expected to have a discussion about causative factors and mitigating factors; things like diet, stress, age etc. and what the long term implications of this disease are. I did my homework online, so I had many questions that would help put me on solid ground and understand how I can think about my disease and help myself feel better. There was no such discussion. When I brought up foods as symptom-causing he literally cut me off in mid sentence and said food does not cause IBD -this is contrary to the literature HE gave me. I was made to feel humiliated and condescended to during our interactions. Any anyone who has been poked and prodded by a G.I. specialists understands something about humiliation. I didn't even ask him about stress as a factor, but I am certain this is my number one problem. The only action taken by this office was to prescribe me a drug to take daily for the rest )of my life (at $75/month) and to schedule a follow up in six months. I implore anyone who goes to this practice for more than a routine physical or basic treatment to reconsider. There are a lot of good doctors out there. Look for them elsewhere! read more

I needed the Yellow Fever vaccine so I could travel abroad. Only certain locations give it out I understand that. I checked the CDC's official website of doctor's offices that gave that vaccine, and Riverside was listed as one of them. I called to make an appointment. The receptionist was one of the rudest people I've ever had the privilege of speaking to on the phone. After he had screamed at me that their office did not give out the vaccine, he started to talk very condescendingly to me about how only the hospital gave them out. I explained that the CDC had listed their office on their website, and he told me I was wrong. I'm currently looking at it now, and the Riverside Medical Center is listed clear as day. If the receptionist was that rude to a potential patient, I can not imagine how wonderful the rest of the staff is(not). read more
