Our first time here, new to the area. No one really paid attention to use except for the very nice,…read moreolder man with the eye patch. He seemed to be greeting everyone coming in through the back door of the church which drops you to the front, right side of the altar. There was a brief welcome to all visitors from the priest who seemed to be somewhat surprised that there were so many people in the church. There were about 400 or so folks there which was surprising to me since it's winter in Osage Beach. The church is very large, bigger than my church at home and in the summer must be very beautiful. There are a ton of trees and plants on the property and the church itself was warm but not uncomfortably so. My non-Catholic husband was very pleased to find out that mass was only an hour long. It seems to be the only Catholic church in the area besides the bigger, St. Patrick's about an 30 minutes more down the road. There was a "eat and greet cake" little social after the 10 am mass. But like many Catholics, we are not as happy, welcoming, huggy as the Born Again Christians/Baptists/Nazarenes/Lutherans are, so no one really greeted us or looked our way, but it's always been like that with Catholics. The majority of the people there were older, white couples, no Hispanics and only one Asian family that I could see. Still, I am a Catholic, so I will return and just do my own thing. Ps. Monsignor Mak has a beautiful voice and sings through much of the mass if it's appropriate. His voice reminds me of the old school mass we used to attend when I was a little girl and wore a veil :-)

Go with an open mind and heart and don't be afraid to ask questions about the Faith to the Priest! I was a Protestant beforehand and I can relate to how foreign things can feel. The parish is filled with decent folks. I highly recommend you give it a try!
