Simply beautiful & HUGE complex of walking trails, sports fields, banquet rooms, the amphitheater and of course their restaurant. Today's visit was for SOBERSTOCK 2019. Joey's band - CLASSYFIED - played right before the featured act. Two other bands played prior. RW provided an incredible sound crew and their staff overall was amazing. We had a private room with their yummy food. The event was decently attended and celebrated and benefited sobriety.

It's the cheapest gym in the area I could find. $300 for a year at time of writing. Cash only…read more It's a black iron gym. A church of iron. Mostly free weights, some resistance machines, and a handful of cardio machines. There are more barbells than there is space. The machines are all dated which isn't necessarily a bad thing. You'll find cable and leg press machines, for example, but no assisted dip or glute press. That said - if you go in the early afternoon, you probably won't have to wait to use any equipment. For a year I've lived just a 5 minute walk away without knowing they existed because their website is broken and they seem to not be interested in web marketing. One can reasonably guess from that, and the casual banter among regular guests and staff, that their business model is based on client retention rather than acquisition. There's certainly a bodybuilder atmosphere - the walls are plastered with 80s bodybuilder magazine clippings, bleached from age, showing off tanned mass monsters and curated headlines-turned-word-art featuring phrases like "MASSIVE" and "JACKED" and "CANNONS." It's hilariously kitsch but charming. Anyway, there's a bit more testosterone in this gym than you'd find in a casual franchise gym, but everyone's cool. I believe personal training is available but I haven't bothered. Only thing missing is 24 hour access. Also, from the street, you climb a tall flight of stairs up to the gym itself. If you're not careful, walking down these steep stairs after leg day may be the end of you.

The gym is always spotless, the equipment feels brand new, and the extra attention to sanitizing makes me feel safe every single visit. But what makes it stand out most are the staff who bring real warmth and care into the space. I'll never forget how Shana took the time to walk me through some of the machines when I first joined she made sure I felt comfortable and confident instead of intimidated. Jasmine is one of the friendliest faces at the front desk, and she never fails to brighten the start of my workout with her positive energy. Then there's Ben, who always keeps things running smoothly and is quick to answer any random question I might have. I appreciate how Triniti pays such close attention to keeping everything clean, seeing her make her rounds gives me peace of mind that I'm in a safe, well cared for space. Rahiem once helped me troubleshoot an issue with the lockers, and he handled it with such patience that it made the whole situation stress free. And of course, Momadou and Mariah both have a way of making the atmosphere light and welcoming just a simple hello from them makes me feel like more than just a member. Each of them has, in their own way, made my experience here truly personal and special. It's rare to find a gym that feels this safe, clean, and full of good energy. For me, Planet Fitness isn't just about working out it's about being part of a community built by some really amazing people.

Huge ups to Mamabou and Triniti who were working there for their kindness, patience, and hospitality. I wouldn't be writing this review if it wasn't for them. As far as gym goes, it's your typical Planet Fitness. Heaviest dumbbell is 75lbs and heaviest weighted EZ bar/straight bar is 65lbs, so doesn't go up very heavy. There are, however, plenty of smith machines and cable machines. Plethora of cardio machines. Everything is spread out with lots of room to work out, so it never felt congested even though there were a decent number of gym goers while we were there. Facility is clean and bathrooms well kept.

Obviously, when the instructor gets there - he goes over it with you too. The first class I attended had a lower body focus, and we did running, step ups, single leg things, squats, running, jumps .... It was no joke, and a good workout. The second class I attended was seriously killer. It was apparently cardio day, and boy did we run. We ran to the penn track area and did a ton of running, sprints, etc. He made it sort of competitive, but in a way that didn't make people feel bad. The "break" between sprinting was running up and down stairs with your hands over your head. (Doesn't sound hard, you say? You try being exhausted from sprinting and then do it. You can get back to me.) I will definitely be going back to early morning classes in the fall and spring (I am a teacher and don't so 6ams in summer. And winter is too cold for me.) They meet rain or shine (or snow?) so be sure to check them out. One thing I wish they had was a better website! But they are on classpass!

*OUTDOOR BOOTCAMP REVIEW* (2400 Walnut under the bridge)…read more Ughhhh Nate, I hate you. But I love you. These classes are legit brutal and you feel like dying the whole time. Because there are no weights, you're using body weight the whole time which is infinitely harder. Each class has a focus (upper body, cardio, lower body) 6am or 7pm. Class size approx 5-10 people , 75/25 women/men. The workouts are different than anything I normally do at the gym/other studios, again because it's all body weight. He varies it up every class and every so often so you're not bored. And most likely you're dying anyways so you can't really be bored while dying right? Be prepared to rough it! You're going to be doing pushups on the gravel so gloves help. You're going to be doing ab work on the muddy grass, so don't come with fancy clothes. And you're sweating the whole time! Nate is tough, but also super nice. I love that he compliments you when deserved so you feel so much better. He does some competition stuff, which also pushes you to want to beat the others in class, but in a friendly way. I took Nate for 2 months in the summer via a Groupon (btw very worth the $) and got a ton of comments from friends on how I looked more tone and stuff! So glad they're on Classpass!

Hello, I have been a member of this gym for over 20 years…read more Many times, I have told people EVERYWHERE that this is the best gym in the world because of it's variety and amount of equipment and space. I have left reviews on the internet to this effect. I would like to continue this sentiment, but I just cannot anymore. I recently took a long break from the gym after renewing my membership (I think in September or November of 2025). The main reason is the music played on the PA system. It is HORRIBLE and WAY TOO LOUD. It is like a bad nightclub with crappy inappropriate music that serves more to distract and drain energy. It is so loud that I can't even bring headphones and enjoy my own music without turning them up so loud I nearly go deaf to drown out the terribly loud crap music in this gym. Not everyone that works out in a gym wants nightclub type "thump thump" or crappy pop music. SOME PEOPLE WANT NO MUSIC AT ALL SO THEY CAN CONCENTRATE AND BE IN THEIR OWN THOUGHTS. It also causes people's conversations to be overly loud and obnoxious. The TYPE of music in this gym is disgusting and in poor taste. The volume is so bad that people wearing headphones complain that it is too loud. I have seen people who graduate from ear buds to noise resistant "can" type headphones in this gym just to drown out the music in this gym. I have voiced my distaste and annoyance about this to the staff and owners many times and I seem to be disregarded, which I find HIGHLY DISRESPECTFUL for someone who has been paying for year-long memberships for over 20 years. I have become so desperate I even offered to pay for the Sirius XM membership if you would just shut it off and you laughed at me WHEN I WAS DEADLY SERIOUS. This is how bad it is. Not a single person there wants to hear this music and especially at this volume. IF I WANTED A NIGHT CLUB, I WOULD GO TO A NIGHT CLUB. IF I WANTED AEROBICS MUSIC FOR A DANCE CLASS I WOULD GO TO AN AEROBICS DANCE CLASS. I COME TO THIS GYM TO LIFT WEIGHTS/WORKOUT, NOT DANCE AROUND LIKE AN IDIOT! It just tells me that you don't care about your customers/members and disregard anything they desire. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, READ THE DAMNED ROOM! EVERYONE IN THAT GYM IS WEARING HEADPHONES. EVEN THE CLEANING CREW WEARS HEADPHONES! READ THE ROOM! TURN OFF THE DAMNED MUSIC! Clearly this is impossible for you to understand and don't care. I live next door to this gym, but I will seriously pay more or walk many blocks to go to a gym that listens to their customers and doesn't force feed them crappy clubby teenage shit-pop music when everyone is wearing headphones trying to avoid it. READ THE DAMNED ROOM!!!

Don't…read moreget me wrong, they've got equipment to spare, but no towels, no soap or shampoo in the showers, no overnight lockers available, one water fountain (serving 4 floors), and they choose to clean the toilet/shower area during business hours without any announcement, just hanging a sign that says closed for cleaning. I walked in, changed my shirt, and I gave my notice to cancel my membership. The woman tramping around cleaning when I wanted to take my shower and dress was the last straw. I will have to rearrange things a bit in my apartment (it will be tight), but I will have a 15 second trip to the "gym", will be able to listen to my choice of music out loud, will have plenty of fresh water right at hand, and will enjoy a leisurely, private shower afterwards. If home exercise doesn't work out, there's a Planet Fitness not far away. I can't imagine it being lower-grade than this place, and it costs half as much to be a member.

Their Facebook is where they make most of their updates: it has their most recent hours and they recently started having classes again. I'd suggest joining when they have a deal going on. It's a really bare-bones, old school workout spot. It has everything that you need to get the job done and that's pretty much it. Downstairs is where most of the free weights and racks are, while upstairs has the cardio and weight machines. Their equipment is pretty worn and by midday, their weights are arbitrarily reracked and scattered. Unfortunately they don't have a ton of lighter dumbbells to workout with. They do have a bunch of weights that are insanely heavy and I've never seen anyone go near them. All in all, the gym has enough equipment for you to get in a full body workout and it meets standard expectations. TLDR: A bare-bones, old school workout spot that has enough for you to get in a workout, but don't expect fancy new equipment or anything flashy.
