Today was my first time coming here and I came and got a strip steak. I asked for medium rare and it was completely well over done. There's nothing worse than getting ruined steak. I used to love roadhouse and for the past year it has been the WORSE SERVICE in all of BASTROP county! It's impossible to call in an order and if you manage to you'll be told 15 minutes been an hour later when you've been in the parking lot for 45 minutes will be told you yours not ready. What a great little mom and pop in Bastrop! I had the mushroom swiss burger cooked medium rare. It was cooked to perfection and hand patted with some great fresh beef! It was so juicy that I used a pile of napkins to keep the juice from running down my shirt sleeves! The onion bun was deliciously fresh also. My son and i stopped to try their burgers and we were very disappointed! I took 3 bites and waitress came to our table and asked us if we wanted it to go, even though they served it on a plate. We then noticed we were the only Hispanics in the place. I don't know if the was the reason,but all i know we were rushed out. We were not making loud noise, we didn't bother anyone. The burgers and nachos were very good. The service was even pretty good. My only complaint is some of the waitstaff were wearing their face mask under their noses while taking orders,etc..... I know restaurants have struggled since Covid hit, but I feel that Roadhouse has raised their prices a little too much. Salads range from $9.95 to $11.95 and to add any type of meat to your salad (steak, grilled or fried chicken breast or even portobello mushrooms) costs an additional $5.95 to $6.50. So, a salad ends up costing from $15.90 to $18.45. That seems too pricey. read more

Chips, salsa, & queso is a huge starter but the fried pickle spears are amazing as well. Sweet tea is an obviously great choice in Texas. Service tends to lean towards the regulars but still decent. I ordered a regular burger with a whole wheat bun. The buns were excellent with a slightly sweet taste. This was a nice counter to the bitter taste of the meat.
