Roald Dahl's books have inspired young people for generations, but sadly the museum that is dedicated to him does not capture the imagination as much as his stories. The content of the museum is aimed at quite young children, with shadow puppetry and storytelling on offer.
The highlight of the experience though has to be the chocolate decorating, which will entertain parents as well as children. For a mere £3 an incredibly helpful, experienced and friendly team lead workshops on how to personalise chocolate, and then offer their support in helping you create your own tasty masterpiece. At the end of the workshop the staff lovingly wrap up your creation to take home (if you can wait that long).
For families with young children who are looking for an outing then this museum is worth a visit but I would recommend bringing along your own food (the café is small and offers limited choice of snacks). Also, don't allow too much time to explore, a few hours to do everything is more than ample, any longer and you're bound to feel slightly bored and disappointed. read more
