The adventure capitol of the world has everything from hikes, outlooks, bungee jumping, river speed boating, to mountain biking. Spend some quality time here and enjoy this wonderful city. It's the NZ-themed sweatshirts that pulled me in, but I walked out with three pillowcases, a tea towel and an apron. If you're looking for a gift to bring home, skip the stereotypical Starbucks mug and head here. You'll pay a bit more, but you'll get some beautifully NZ-designed, high quality items. While I normally steer clear of "souvenir shops" as the merchandise is usually just junk, this one was different as they carried a wide range of jade and paua ( the pearlized shells) made into costime jewelery that was of the same caliber as other shops in town, but with a more reasonable price. Service was spot on, too, as the woman helping me went out of her way to find me just the piece I was looking for. She also was helpful to convert my US ring size to the sizing they use here. It may not be for everyone, but I was able to get a couple of things at a reasonable price to take back home with me. And that was exactly what I was looking for!

Though, if you need some normal groceries and water, I highly recommend 4 Squares Supermarket. We also went to Fergburger, Flame Bar & Grill, Aotea Gifts, took the TSS Earnslaw, and Erik's Fish and Chips. Overall, a nice place to roam around, especially with the beautiful Lake Wakatipu as a background. There are excellent restaurants and stores to eat and get souvenirs.
