Horrible pizza frozen would have tasted better it was like eating cardboard with melted cheese don't waste your money

My Husband and I have been going to Roaring Rapids for years. I LOVE their pizza. The crust is just right. Most pizza places they bake the pizza to long and the crust gets stiff and crunchy and is awful to chew, Roaring Rapids is somewhere between chewy and crusty, just right! The sitting areas are great, you can sit up front or in back and watch the river go by. The Carousel has been around for a long time. I used to put my kids on it and now I put my grandkids on it. Couldn't wait to throw my plate in the sink and wash my mouth out. I don't think I've ever been so inclined to write a review about a food place than now. I paid 35 dollars for a medium pepperoni and olive pizza and I can't think of any other time that I've wasted more money. Cardboard like, prefrozen crust with way too much crud on the bottom to keep it from sticking. And the cheese is terrible quality. Looks and tastes waxy and plastic-like. Good for families. You can dine outside in order to listen to the roaring rapids, if you wish. You can go next door to play miniature golf. They share a big parking lot. The water features are really nice, since Oregon has plenty of water. And the pizza was good. read more

I like this place and I like the pizza. That being said, I rarely go and this is a good example of why: Last night on a Tuesday at 6pm, my cousin, myself and my 86 year-old aunt went for pizza. It was a glorious summer afternoon, and the outside patio area is so beautiful with the peaceful River, the breeze and the sun that I brought my aunt to the table outside. I noticed some band equipment and asked her if she wanted to go inside, but her mobility is a little complicated (and she's pretty deaf) so she indicated that she was fine where she was. Well, the pizza came and the band began, and it was so ear-shatteringly loud that we could not communicate at all! We were sitting 3 feet apart! Why shatter a beautiful evening with this?? The music was okay, but after we left I was having hearing problems for hours! My cousin and I resorted to TEXTING to visit.....we couldn't wait to get away, and looking around, much of the patio was emptied during this concert! Other times I have been there I have experienced big parties too close to the patio to avoid the chaos. I don't go there very often, this is why! If you want to lose your hearing and experience a "young vibe" then brave the patio. I wish I had fled this concert and dragged my aunt with me....but one reason to go there is the patio!! These guys serve a crisp crust pizza. They are the crispiest I have been able to find in the Eugene area. It quickly become obvious that customer service is important to this company. The staff was on point and the food was excellent. I really appreciated the salad bar too... Fresh... Chilled....And giant salad plates! Overall a great dining experience. I've been to Roaring Rapids about 5 times this summer, after years of assuming the games etc meant it would be a Chuck-E-Cheez type place. I'd always imagined it would have thick, pasty pizza for hyped up kids. I was wrong. I have to admit that it is some of the Eugene area's best pizza, and the best tasting pizza close to the UO campus. I very much like the crackery crust, though it might not be to everyone's taste. The cheese and toppings are fresh and delicious. It is pricey. It's not something just to get on a whim, at least not on my budget (I've been lucky to get some free pizza coupons this summer). They do have a good deal on lunch buffet that gets you all-you-can-eat salad bar and pizza bar. The salad bar is a mixed bag--the hardboiled eggs had been frozen and were pretty gross--but they really do keep a variety of fresh hot pizzas keep coming out to the hot bar. The ambiance indoors isn't great, but it's good for events and when the weather's nice you can always get a more intimate table out overlooking the river. Service is limited since you order at the counter, and it's a bit odd to order pizza and drinks at separate counters, but the staff are very friendly. Have cash for tips, it's awkward to add a tip to their credit receipts and you will want to tip these fine people. read more

This is like eating pizza in a country that has never heard of pizza. Absolute garbage. You would think that toppings would be a basic knowledge type situation, but, I swear this is true, they used canned mushrooms (I didnt even know you could do that??) and they just straight up, I swear this is true, cut a whole green pepper in three slices and straight put that in the dead center of my pizza. Really? Their pizza is absolute garbage and they should not be allowed to call it pizza. Staff was fine, you just serve a disgusting product. read more

This isn't the best pizza in Eugene/Springfield but we had a terrific birthday party for our 5 year old with 25 people here-these guys bent over backwards for us....I forgot EVERYTHING and they had it all and were so great about helping.Honestly amazing.....these guys were terrific read more

If you don't love roaring rapids then you need to be seen by a specialist because it's, by far, the best pizza. There, of course, are other styles of pizza in the world and many are almost as good, but to not at least recognize this as top tier in its category is absurd! Giant pizzas with a thin, crunchy cornmeal crust, lightly sauced and a medium amount of cheese. Always fresh, always giving on toppings and always consistent! All the employees are kind and very clean cut! I feel like I'm in some small town when I'm there. The best forever. read more

The atmosphere is great here for family and kids and tables outside..but there pizza was not good. They had a decent salad bar and staff was friendly. To bad there pizza wasn't as good as everything else there. read more

Sad to see a Star Fall, I used to love this place, hosted a couple of parties here, But the owners have evidently retired. turning it over to less perfectionist. The salad bar offers Onions diced so coarsely, They'd work for onion rings. Everything else is out of a can. read more

I visited Roaring Rapids Pizza on 8/7/19. The establishment looked clean and orderly--which is amazing for a pizza parlour to maintain, given all the kiddies running around. All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. I ordered the Columbia Combo (large), and two large soft drinks. The order came to right around $40.00. Perhaps I'm living in the past, but $40.00 seems like a lot for a pizza and a couple of drinks. The pizza arrived in a timely manner, and was hot. The crust was average (good), sauce was good. What struck me was the lack of toppings. There was a lot of plain cheese showing. I have no idea how many times I've gone to RRP in the past, but it's been many, many times (since it was Pietro's). I don't remember ever getting such a weakly topped pizza. What really saved the day was they had a live jazz band. I know...a jazz band in a pizza joint? As a musician, I can tell you--it was one tight band. I really was impressed, amazed, actually. So, I'll give the band a 5+, and RRP a 2. And this saddens me, as RRP has always been a solid 4 or 5 in the past. read more

I've ordered here before like regular pizzas and just loved it 5 stars, great crust and flavor! But this time I came for the lunch time buffet for the very first time and it was terrible, and that was an understatement. They would bring out 1 pizza at a time for 15-20 waiting people to grab it at once and wouldn't even have the basics for children to enjoy or even myself. What happened to just a cheese, a pepperoni or sausage? Instead it was ham pep onions peppers, taco pizza or vegetarian style. Almost no pizza was available on the small Buffett table until another was brought 15 mins later. Hard to figure how a business can advertise and sell a pizza buffet and have no pizza readily available or any common sense pizza selections that kids like. Also they don't offer or have a clean plate for a return to the buffet table. Watching people make a second or third trip on the same plate was unsanitary and unacceptable to dine at. Save your money and order a pizza to your table and enjoy it, don't waste your time and patience and ruin your lunch by doing a buffet here. read more

I am really disappointed. I ordered a delivery half veggie half pepperoni. I live literally 2 blocks away. It took 54 minutes to get here. There was sausage all over the veggie side. I have vegetarian living here. Nor did order sausage at all. The cheese was cold and someone threw on half ass sliced tomatoes like it was a last thought. The outside patio is quite lovely on the river-jazz night (7/19). The (pricy and very mediocre) pizza-50 minutes in the making was terrible. It was their BLT version-with more Lettuce (chopped iceberg) than anything else...warmish pizza with no sauce-I let the server know we had been waiting 45 ++ minutes (it was not a busy night) and she did give us free breadsticks to tide us over (mediocre-warm, again, not hot), and apologized for the mixup. (The staff is very nice.) Don't go here for the food, go for the ambiance of the river/patio setting! read more

I can't think how a pizza place can get much better. The pizza is not haute cuisine, but it meets the standard of good crust (I ate all of it), lots of topping, and a veggie with broccoli that actually works. The salad bar is reasonable with fresh ingredients. Salad plates are refrigerated. Sure, you can buy either of two sizes one time through, but it also comes with a few pizza samples (I think). If people need more than the large plate piled many inches high, then this is not the place. I got a small plate and plenty of salad (with one slice from a pizza we ordered). Totally enough to eat. Izzy's it is not. But it's got a great view. I think it is one of just three restaurants on the river. You can see the river roll over a lot of rocks. I go there when school is in session so as to avoid the kids, but they do have a good time there. The prices are a little higher than usual for a pizza place, but the price of pizza is pushed low with cheap and poorly made pizzas that are just filler for youth who look at quantity for a cheap price. read more

OK pizza but TERRIBLE service. We had our casual rehearsal dinner there and they ruined it for me by not properly staffing despite 7-8 months of advance notice. I was sitting there ordering sodas, clearing tables of empty pitchers and pizza pans. On top of that, they never told me they cannot serve beer outside so I was left making shuttle runs every 10 minutes. Terrible terrible management. We ate the lunch buffet (all you can eat pizza). Staff was very friendly and helpful. The salad bar was great and everything was fresh, the problem was the pizza. The pizza looked like it had been sitting out for a long time. Even when they brought out new pizza it looked like it had been sitting around. Rapids is by far our favorite pizza and also have a really awesome salad bar. Not a place you want to go to avoid kids or crowds though. But it has a decent beer and wine bar and in the summer you can sit right on the river (hard to believe its surrounded by industrial crap and RV parks). Great for big groups and often has musical groups perform. Downside is the increase in "social media craze" advertisements all over the place. Just seems odd for a family place. LOTS of parking. Pizza was between good and average, but it was pretty over priced. Service was good for groups especially. There is a full arcade and carousel in the back room so it's likely good for birthday parties, but as a team on a trip, it was overall average. read more

This has been my favorite pizza place since I was a kid (I had all my bday parties there as a kid) and now, it's my kids' favorite. The pizza is amazing! And recently, I was told by one of their employees (when I called to order a pizza to be delivered) that my home is out of their delivery zone but they still delivered, as they had done it in the past. I even called back and spoke to the manager on duty to thank him for breaking the rules for me. Our favorite pizza is the Santiam.... delish! I highly recommend Roaring Rapids! read more

My adult daughter, sister, and I have had your lunch special several times - individual pizza and salad bar. Both pizza and salad bar are good. The salad bar ingredients have been fresh and well-maintained on all of our visits. The wait time for our pizza was minimal. We enjoy sitting on the deck by the river in the summer. I agree with the atmosphere,It has a wonderful location! The inside is nice and comfortable looking. With a name of Roaring River PIZZA Company you would think the pizza would be a priority, This is where they fail horribly! The crust was the worst I have ever seen,It fell apart when you tried to pick a piece up to eat it and was mostly bubbles (which we all know is done to make you think the pizza is bigger). The toppings were minimal and the supposed "Wisconsin" pizza was a disgrace to the dairy state,I doubt the cheese was from Wisconsin,More like garlic flavoring added to cheap California cheese. To top it all off the place was like a PIGPEN,There was crushed food,vegetables,and napkins all over the floor and tables. It was quite gross! The employees were more concerned with the larger group of people with children in the rear and making deliveries or talking on phone. $35.00 large pizza,1 small drink,1 bottomless drink and a salad. read more

This place has been here for several years, and I have frequented it many times, however, my last time will indeed be my LAST time. We forked over $30 a pizza and they had nothing on them. Even the pizza that had 6 diff. ingredients listed was bare. I think the only reason this place stays in business is the view (and they serve Ninkasi). The staff is nice (except for the manager/owner, whatever he is, seems rather snobby, and not very outgoing). Sad that one of the best located restaurants rests on that, and does not try to deliver a better product...shame on them! read more

Food is not great and not cheap BUT the space is amazing for kids and the staff is wonderfully helpful. We have had last minute birthday parties here (rained out of the park) and they were so accommodating. They also host fundraisers that help local schools and charities, which is so important to our community. I'll definitely keep supporting them, regardless of how the pizza tastes. read more
