The person behind the till was a bit officious though. We'd chosen to sit at two tables outside (there being nine of us). When she asked us which table we were sitting at, we said "those two tables". To which she said, "yes, but which one?". "Both of them". "But which one?" This repeated a few times in kafkaesque fashion, until we chose just one. Still, it provided a holiday anecdote.

We had shopping to do, so were in and out within 35 minutes, which I can imagine will be ideal for those busy weekdays with the people of the nearby businesses and shops popping in on their lunch hour. The rest of the menu seemed standard and what you'd expect from a town centre cafe. The prices were also reasonable. I wouldn't travel across town to go there - but if you're passing by when shopping and fancy a quick lunch, i'd recommend it. It's certainly better than many of the alternatiive eateries in Bury.

I hooked myself up with an black coffee and very must enjoyed it. A great house blend with a nice richness to it, made nice and strong. From my fellow yelper I have heard great things about the hot chocolate as well - so I may have to return for a second tasting.

I had a flat white, which is quickly becoming my go to order for assessing the quality of both the coffee used and the skill of the maker. There is something to be said for small boutique sized flat white which you receive from independent coffee vendors. Passion Fruit's flat white was nigh on exceptional and certainly the best I've had from a coffee stall. When done correctly this is one of the few coffees I don't add sugar to, I'm not sure of the technicalities of how this works but I believe it has to do with the smoothness of the microfoam (a slightly snobbish term for the foamed milk which is more than just warm but has less air pushed into it than a cappuccino). An extremely welcome addition to the Altrincham Market especially if you don't want to go into the food hall and sit down but would rather grab a coffee to go and have a wander around the market. I'm not sure if they intend on being a regular fixture of the market or whether they will be appearing around Manchester. But if you see Passion Fruit Coffee around I do recommend grabbing a flat white and a nice big cookie.

They fortunately had a little blackboard outside saying they were in fact open. On going in it was extremely busy and had a large queue for service. They are quite disorganised and took about 20minites to get through a queue of orders for 12 people not providing drinks that's just taking orders as they hand out numbers to take back to your table. Then another 20 minutes to receive my Flat White, yes just a drink, as they had one staff member making the drinks and then delivering them to the tables after each and every drink was made. Which also took a considerable amount of time as they didn't seem to look for the numbers they themselves had provided opting to ask random people if it was there drink. At least four times our group was brought incorrect drinks in their search for the right home. The coffee itself was quite decent. Glad I didn't order food though although others in my group did order bagels which took another 15 minutes. Sadly a decent cafe let down by very poor organisation.

But music is a little too loud for the morning, with Starbucks you get the choice of extras like special coffee or syrups ( normal or sugar free ) and whipped cream. The barista resisted my negotiations of a discount. The other people in my party got a Triple Hot Chocolate with it being BOGOF with a special offer when you say their hidden phrase "We love Chocolate" They is charging sockets in the store but they isn't many, they is so little that I got a girl wanting to charge her phone at my table, I didn't mind but it would be nice to see a few more spread around the store. This is a large store, with normally a large queue and the numerous seats being close to full. I didn't notice any gluten free cakes or sandwiches yet again in a Starbucks store, it makes me doubt they still do a gluten free wrap and brownie. The barista who served me, appeared to be more serious than friendly and a laugh. This store has free wifi, but as I was sat very far away from the entrance, I could not even pick it up, which adds to a disappointing wifi signal of which is really intermittent in central Wigan. The downstairs is an open sofa area with a board displaying the various luxury milkshakes on offer that day. Whilst they all looked very appetising, I was really in the mood for a decent cuppa so headed up the metal stairway to the kitchen to order. I was then greeted by the smell of cakes and pastries which had literally just come out of the oven. In the end I opted for a tea and a muffin which came to a very reasonable £2.60. The lady behind the bar brought my order over to me, a very nice touch I thought which meant I was able to sit and browse the art for sale on the wall. When my tea came, it also came with a little biscuit on the side, again, not much but a nice touch which shows that this shop really cares about service. Overall, the shop has a really "artsy" yet cosy feel about it. It's the kind of place which I could see myself sitting for hours writing or catching up with pals I haven't seen in a while. The quiet and relaxing atmosphere is further enhanced by the scents wafting over from the scented candle shop a few doors down. This place is a real find and I encourage others in Leek to give it a go too.

Waste of time and energy, waited 40 minutes on Wednesday 6th July got drinks after 20 minutes…read more Asked for wholemeal bap got white asked for white only Stilton got Blue, when complained that no one had advised me of the changes to my request was told that they only took over the business on the previous friday and that they had no other chees and that they had been busy so why was I complaining! With remarks like that from the indifferent lady owner i did indeed ask myself why I was complaining. The service was shocking the attitude of the owner was disgraceful and to top it off my daughter advised me that her pasta dish was cold but that she didn't like to add any more stuff to the complant list!! Steer clear my friends it was appaling. There scores on the doors is 2 stars but of course this is not measured against service only hygiene which isn't very good but if service was included in the ratings they would have got -5.
