Then in came Miss Mary like a cool breeze (or warm sun, depending on the climate where you live) and EVERY KID wants to be in it. And every parent too. Miss Mary keeps the kids moving, singing, and having fun all while teaching actual valuable musical skills like pitch and rhythm. A simple sing-along class this is not. And her communication with parents? So far above and beyond anything I would expect from an after-school/extracurricular teacher (and frankly, it's more than I get from the actual preschool teacher!). She sends videos and hosts performances and tells how we can integrate music lessons from her class into our home life. It's so wonderful to encounter and spend time with a person like Miss Mary who has clearly found their passion and calling.

It's small inside, but jam-packed with a hundred unique musical novelties. Jewelry shaped like instruments, umbrellas with notes on them, bowties with piano keys, wine bottle holders made from actual piano keys, a small selection of vinyl records, books...one on how to tune a piano, CDs, etc... I can't remember it all, and it was quite overwhelming. I do know they didn't have a welcome mat, which is what I really wanted. I was told they'd hopefully have one by the holidays. So I'll be returning...also because it's where I travel for work. But if you're in Staunton, this shop is not to be missed. It's like a musical etsy conglomerate. Respect it.

They come to Staunton from all over the world and It is a great blessing to have them here to share their talent. While here, they are guided by the Institute's staff to better perform and to gain knowledge from complementing study. We have attended two or three performances and being surrounded by 50 or more stringed instruments, performed expertly, is a very special evening. It is a wonderful surprise that they are located in Staunton and not a large metropolitan area!

He let me stand on some of the decks to see what size felt the best to me. Nobody rushed me or pressured me into buying anything and they were really good with the boys buying stuff next to me too. They showed the kids how to put the skateboard together and I cannot emphasize enough how kind and patient they are. A custom build is about $200 but they sell premade complete boards for cheaper and occasionally used ones. Many skate shops are very intimidating so I was so happy to find this. I will definitely be coming back for any and all gear I need :)
