I went to Dr. Greenberg when he had just started his practice to have a bump on my face removed. He did a cancer screening and found a mole in the middle of my back that he removed, sent to pathology and it turned out to be a malignant melanoma. I had asked my general practitioner and OB/GYN about it and they said if it didn't bother me, leave it alone. Fortunately the melanoma was still on the surface and hadn't penetrated down to other layers of my skin. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Greenberg for saving my life. read more

This is a review of a recent interaction I had with Andrea Cheeseman front staff. Dr. Greenburg was my doctor in 2017, but I since moved to a new dermatologist. My current dermatologist wanted to put me on doxycycline and explained to me that it technically in the classification of antibiotics. I remembered having an allergic reaction to an antibiotic given to me by Dr. Greenburg but couldn't remember the name. I called their front desk to try to get the information. I explained that doxycycline was not technically an antibiotic as my doctor had told me, to which I kid you not, Andrea barks 'are you a doctor?' Then I was told to get my medical records, I would need to pay $25. I was also told that CVS would not provide any prescription information to such a far back date. I called my local CVS and they gave me the corporate number to which they said they could send me my entire prescription history for free. When I got this list, there was no history of an antibiotic. I called Dr. Greenburg again and asked if there was a possibility that the doctor had just handed me the antibiotic, to which Andrea said no. Andrea sent me the patient records release form and again 'reminded' me there would be a $25 cost. Several days later she called and left a message saying I was correct. Apparently this doctor handed me a trial of Aciculate (aka doxycycline). To review. For someone so fucking anal I was given the following false information: 1. CVS cannot provide you will your prescription records. FALSE 2. The doctor would never just hand you a prescription. FALSE 3. You will need to pay $25 for this information. FALSE. This is all to say, please do your homework and just because someone acts like they know everything, don't believe them and persevere through their negative attitude. I'm not sure if he has the knowledge to be helpful with inflammatory skin conditions such as rosacea but he definitely does not have the patience to do so. I knew from the Yelp reviews that he keeps his appointments short and that would be fine if he provided me with life changing information. I drove an hour to see him and spent less than 7 minutes with him. Prior to my appointment I was really hopeful that he would be familiar with TRP channels and we could discuss potential rosacea triggers. When I started asking him questions he became visibly agitated and implied he didn't want to deal with this right now. Rosacea is a nuanced chronic inflammatory condition and I expected him to treat it is as such rather than just throwing an antibiotic at it and not even remotely attempting to address what is causing that chronic inflammation. It is pretty well accepted by the medical/scientific community that certain foods/lifestyle choices make rosacea worse. Treating rosacea with an antibiotic without even remotely attempting to address the triggers is like trying to use a hose to put out a fire all the whole someone else is continuously pouring gasoline on that fire. read more

I have been going to Dr. Greenberg's Office for years to treat warts and acne. I had one appointment every month for six months while on acutane and NEVER had a good experience. The Livermore office staff and medical assistants are never friendly, and are often downright rude. Even with a prescheduled appointment, I have never been seen by the doctor earlier than 20 minutes after my appointment time. Ms. Tan was kind while treating my acne, but misdiagnosed a growth on my hand that has been growing for years. I told her I was self-conscious about the growth, and she told me that it was a scar and to cover it with makeup until it "went away." My new dermatologist looked at it the growth briefly and immediately diagnosed it as a ring wart that had gotten worse as a result of lack of treatment. Dr. Greenberg's Office also failed to inform me of any follow up treatment or information about how the growths form, so I was left in the dark. I fully recommend finding a different dermatologist, I honestly have never felt so unwelcome and unheard in a doctor's office. read more

I was referred to this office by my primary doctor. I arrived a little early so that I could fill paper work out. Once I arrived, I was given my clipboard of paperwork to fill out. Prior to finishing the paperwork, I was called back to the room. I got to the room and tell the lady I did not have time to finish my paperwork. She said, okay and instructed me to put the paper shirt on as the PA would be right in. The PA was in shortly after that and we discussed my issue. The PA repeatedly said my insurance would not cover the removal of some questionable moles. Eventually, we came to an agreement on partial treatment. A short painful time later, we were done. Keep in mind I had not finished my new patient paperwork. I left the room and tried to hand the clipboard back to the front desk workers but they said the papers needed to be filled out. So, let me get this straight, you are NOW interested in my medical history, AFTER I was treated?! ...They obviously had no interest in viewing this paperwork prior to treating me. The paperwork they so needed was medical history etc...and all of the other BS that should be viewed prior to treatment. This long story ends with me, not being a fan of this mole mill of a facility. I'm not sure why I complied with filling out the paperwork, after the fact as I will not be a returning patient. This felt like a puppy mill facility. I miss my Peninsula dermatologist, he and his staff listened, had a great bedside manner, didn't make me feel rushed or unheard and they took my opinion into account for my treatment. I was a patient of Dr. Greenberg years ago. He is good and I was told he has a dead-pan type of humor, which he does. I can appreciate that. I was also treated by Ms. Tan. She is friendly and professional. Now to current day. My father is currently a patient of Dr. Greenberg. I take my dad to his appointments. I sit in on his follow up appointments and wait outside while he is getting his lightbox treatment. I hear the conversations and see the interactions between all of the staff while I'm waiting for my dad. I have witnessed the condescending tone, almost hostile, by one individual towards the staff. It's very unprofessional. Any staff meeting needs to be taken elsewhere, not in the hallway, were patients cannot hear. I have felt the uneasiness of the staff while this person is in the office. When this person was on vacation for a few weeks, the staff was more at ease and they did their job with a smile. Dr. Greenberg has taken care of my husband and my daughter. He and his staff are extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and right on with their diagnosis. My daughter went to several dermatologists who couldn't figure out her skin disorder. As soon as Dr. Greenberg saw her and focused in on her history, he quickly made the diagnosis and gave her the appropriate treatment. My husband had a cancerous growth by his ear and Dr. Greenberg quickly biopsied it, later excised it, and it subsequently healed with no issues. He's the most respected dermatologist in the Bay Area. MELANOMA MISSED Stay away from this medieval practice. Their technology is light-years behind. My husband saw Greenberg every 3 months for 20 years. He does a quick once-over and sprays you in a few spots. Never records or follows up. My husband decided to try another practice. In the first visit they photographed, measured, and recorded, and did 2 excisions. One of them is MELANOMA which requires special surgery at a procedural dermatologist. He saw Greenberg in November -- this growth appeared before that but he was told it was nothing. I wouldn't even trust this guy with acne. He now works at Golden State Dermatology. read more

Where to begin?? You enter the office for your appointment. Expect to be greeted with feeling like you are imposing upon the office worker. Expect curt, one word answers and general feeling of negativity - actually bordering on resentfulness. After the office staff, I will touch upon how long you will wait for your appointment. Expect a minimum of 25 minute delay and up to 50 minutes...AFTER your scheduled appointment. The medical assistants are cold and uncommunicative and I've overheard them speaking ill about other patients and their own coworkers. Minimal education about what you're being treated for, terrible rudeness and a general feeling that you don't matter one bit. Look elsewhere for a dermatology center; maybe if more people read these reviews and cease utilizing their services they will do something to change their ways!! PS - my dermatologist now is AWESOME!! There are good ones out there... read more

I had psoriasis for years and went to several dermatologists and most of them tells me that it has no cure and I just have to deal with it. They gave me prescription but mostly just to relieve me from the itchiness and pain. It was very frustrating to live my day to day life not being comfortable and embarrassed to have big patches on my skin. I have to wear long sleeves during summer and cannot wear bathing suit. I decided that I can no longer just "deal with it." I started doing research and found several reviews for Dr. Greenberg. Even if my insurance did not cover I just decided I should spend money and try what this clinic can offer. After months of treatment, my skin went 100% clear and I got my life back. I think Dr. Greenberg is running a "dermatology mill!" He has a lot of PA's that cover his offices. I have a friend that had a skin cancer on her head for years. I think he treated it too conservatively. Finally he referred her to have a Mohs procedure where her skin cancer was finally properly treated. read more

I am SO done with this place. They billed me for a pregnancy test, for my son. One of the Physician Assistants was so busy showing my son's dad her laser removal results under her arm pit that she burned the wrong spot off of his face. They push brand name drugs, with rebates, which leads me to believe they are getting some kind of kick back from the RX companies. (I'm in the healthcare business, so don't get me started on this.) They are inflexible with both missed appointments and prescription refills and their staff's phone and office etiquette are as warm as dry, cold toast. I further agree that they are all about The Dollar and not the patient. They may be good at what they do, but that's not a full package. NEVER going back. EVER, NEVER. read more

I posted this same review on his page for the Livermore office because I didn't know there were two profiles for the same doctor. If you want to see more reviews for him, they are there from others as well. I was referred here by my primary care physician for a annual mole check -- but it had been a long while since my last one and so I wanted to make sure they did a thorough review. Plus I had a few other concerns I wanted to speak to him about. Getting the appointment was relatively easy. Upon arrival I was disappointed. The office was rather dingy and the staff barely looked up when talking to you. Everyone seemed rushed and not very friendly. The doctor came in and checked me over for what was about 60 seconds (no exaggeration) and couldn't seem to get out of the room fast enough, even though I attempted to engage him and asked several questions about a couple of suspicious spots I had. It had been years since my last check, I was a new patient and I am very fair skinned and prone to skin cancers by family history. So you'd think he would want to spend more than a hot minute checking me out. I had written about this history on my intact form, which he skimmed for all of 30 seconds. I also had some interest in some cosmetic remedies for my age spots and redness and he was dismissive and likewise uninterested. The last part seemed particularly odd -- that's the stuff they make money on because insurance won't cover vanity procedures. I won't be going back - for annual exams or anything else. I have been a client of Dr. Greenberg and Dr. Tan for over 10 years. I recently had a mountain bike accident, scraping my face fairly massively. On the same day of the accident, I asked to get into see the Doctors rather than go to the nearby emergency room. I made an appointment 3 weeks ago to see Dr. Greenberg, showed up on time for my 11am appointment. 30 minutes into waiting, I was told he was running behind and I would actually have to see his Physicians Assistant. I made the appointment with Dr. Greenberg because I wanted to see a MD not a PA. I was then put into a room for 15 minutes and finally decided to walk out after waiting 45 minutes for nothing... Total disappointment!!! I decided to call the office manager all she could say is she has no excuse and I was 110% correct 20 times. She also pointed out that there were 2 office emergencies and this always happens on Mondays. My advice, don't schedule routine appointments on Mondays if this always happens. 1.5 stars. I must comment on the office lobby in this pretty old and outdated office. The small lobby was an issue for us. During the many visits to see two doctors here, the small lobby was always overflowing with waiting patients. Several times, people had to go outside (even in rain) and stand to wait, us included. Sometimes the waits were extremely long. My daughter saw Dr. Greenberg several years ago for a mild acne issue. I accompanied her on her one visit there to see him. Bedside manner was a solid zero stars. We don't expect any doctor to be all warm, fuzzy and friendly by any means. Yet my daughter and I felt we were inconveniences. He did not introduce himself nor even so much as look my daughter in the eye for the duration of the appointment, which lasted maaaaaaybe two minutes. He glanced at her skin, mumbled a few words and wrote out a prescription for a topical cream. The cream didn't do a thing to resolve the acne and we chose to not return to this office for further acne treatment. An over the counter cream ended up clearing the mild acne. Yay for inexpensive OTC acne products! However, based upon a recommendation from an aquaintance, my daughter returned to this office to see Dr. Tam to have a painful wart on her finger examined. Dr. Tam determined the wart would best be removed by freezing it. She assured us insurance would cover the cost of the wart removal due to it being painful and necessary to have removed so my daughter could use her fingers. Dr. Tam was nice to my daughter and had a great bedside manner. Kudos for that. Yes, just a little bit of kindness goes a long way with us. Unfortunately, the freezing did not remove the wart, even after many visits. The freezing was very painful for my daughter. As a mom, it brokemy heart when she cried from the tremendous pain visit after visit. Yet, as per Dr. Tam's recommendation, we thought this was the only resolve to that painful wart. My daughter plugged through the pain while shedding tears. Of course I shed tears as well...I felt horrible that my girl was enduring so much pain. After several very painful freezing treatments that did not help remove the wart at all, we got a surprise. Dr. Tam told my daughter to simply put a piece of duct tape atop of the wart. She said there is a chemical in the duct tape that dissolves warts. Hey...great suggestion, yet why didn't she tell us that right off the bat?!! She could have saved my daughter a LOT of pain and our family a whole lot of money. ...and saved us a lot of time. Yes, saved us money. Wow- another surprise...nope, insurance did NOT cover the wart freezing as we were told. That huge invoice wasn't a happy surprise. The invoice for all visits was not sent to us until after the last office visit. I honestly wonder if the office had an agenda all along regarding the fees. I am happily sharing our spendy "surprise" information with you: Duct tape did work to dissolve the wart! Don't bother seeing a dermatologist for a wart. Cool- I hope I can save others money and possible frustration. Just doing my Yelp job. This team of doctors also has a San Ramon office with mixed reviews. Personally, my daughter and I would not recommend either doctor... bedside manner or no bedside manner... we were not impressed. read more

Three words, and they are all "quack." As of this writing my ONLY one-star rating (they don't allow for zero). I had the misfortune of seeing "Dr." Greenberg a few years back and the appalling experience stuck with me. Since I just posted about a really good dermatologist who contrastingly reminded me of my Greenberg experience, I felt duty-bound to share it here. First I was led into an exam room and told to remove my shirt. Then I waited. And I waited. Finally a teenage girl who had been misdirected into my exam room came in. She was as surprised as I was! When the good doctor arrived there was barely any acknowledgement of my presence, beyond basic probing and prodding, as he droned on and on to his assistant about his recent trip to Hawaii. I'll never know if he was trying to impress her with all the detail or he was simply full of himself (I have my suspicions). Finally, acknowledging my presence while putting his tropical dissertation on pause (thank god--I mean, I've already done the Road to Hana. I didn't need to re-live it vicariously, thank you), he then tried to sell me on $3K in dermabrasion treatments, which I'm so glad I did not take part in as I have since learned from a real dermatologist that course of treatment would have been disastrous for my situation. Eventually, I was duly scooted out of the room for final processing, which included hard-sells by a staffer on all kinds of bucket-sized containers of fluids to put on my skin at prices that would quickly pay for a vacation to Hawaii. And then they wanted money for the visit! I'm still rolling my eyes. Audacious. read more

For a lot of people, Dr. Greenberg is hit or miss. For our family, he is a total hit. We have all seen him over the years and most recently, I saw him for my annual mole check. My husband saw him for some weird fatty tumors he had on his scalp-Dr. Greenberg removed them and they haven't grown back. My BIL takes apple cider vinegar pills to get rid of his and they always grow back. My daughter sees Dr. Greenberg for her acne and though we are still working on this issue, she respects him and he is great at reinforcing some of the things I tell her. This office is ALWAYS packed busy. Be prepared to wait if you have a later afternoon appointment or an appointment right after lunch. If you can get a first of the morning type of appointment, those IMO are the best and have the least amount of wait time. I am going to get more friendly with Dr. Greenberg this year as my fair skin has made it that he removed 2 moles from my back (both benign), but I am now on the twice yearly mole check list instead of the yearly. Oh, and he is also great at telling me some of the products I ask about are vanity related and not something I "need". Much different than a very popular Danville derm who has more injectables in her own face than I am am sure many of her patients. read more

Dr. Greenberg was my daughter's dermatologist to treat a benign skin condition that is actually known for not having any effective treatments to treat it. Well, Dr. Greenberg stepped outside of the "norm" and tried a few different things and actually successfully treated a condition with amazing results. Because part of the treatment included a topical ointment which wasn't approved for treatment of this condition, our insurance wouldn't cover it. instead of me paying the $200 for a tiny tube, which I would have done, he made sure he provided samples for us to use since he didn't know for sure if it would be effective. Well, it was when combined with other therapy he ordered and the net of it is that she's been successfully treated for a condition that many suffer, and almost no one can get treated. I will say he doesn't come across at first as the warmest doc around, and is actually quite reserve, but I think this is just his personality more so than some belief or attitude that he's somehow superior. He was always very kind to me and my daughter and truly cared about helping her with a condition that could have led to her being treated poorly by other kids. He doesn't seem to have lots of really young patients like my daughter was, but always responded very well to her when she would run up to him to say hello which was nice since he's a pretty reserve guy. I'm not sure about seeing him for regular skin check-ups because we went to see him for a very specific issue. I will say though that if you need a brilliant dermatologist, they don't come any finer than him. read more

Dr Greenberg and his entire staff have always been wonderful to me and my family. We've all been seeing him for about 20 years now and he's become one of my most favorite doctors ever. He actually diagnosed an autoimmune disease I had for over 15 years that no other doctor could. He also did the same for my daughter! He's very knowledgeable about many different types of autoimmune illnesses and helped me to get the right type of doctor. The front office staff went out of their way to help me get reimbursed for a medication they didn't even prescribe! Who does that? Overall, the other reviews are correct. Not a warm environment at all, however, Dr. Greenburg, helped my son with relief from hives. Clearly, he is knowledgeable, yet neither he or his staff made any effort in making patient or parents feel that they were important and that their business was appreciated...not a personable office. Also, be aware, if you miss an appt. for any reason, you WILL be charged. When we made a follow-up appt. at the doctor's request, we were not made aware of said $35 charge nor was a courtesy phone call reminder made as our pediatricians and dentists do for us. Don't expect this courtesy here. You will not be able to make any followup appt. unless that charge is paid. Not my idea of an office who really wants to help their patients. With all the choices we have in dermatologists, I'm not sure why customer service is not at it's best here. We will definitely be looking for another doctor. read more

My son is treated here and I really love Dr. Tan. I think she's outstanding. I think it's terrible that the office bills you for same day rescheduling. My recommendation is if you can find an office that doesn't bill you exorbitant amounts go with them. Things happen and schedules change you don't have to stick it to your patients. read more

Let me start by saying that the only reason I don't like this office is the front office staff. They are rude to patients, catty with each other and have loud inappropriate conversations in front of the waiting room. I have witnessed this on several occassions. The girl with dark hair with a blonde streak (receptionist?) is the major problem, in my opinion. She used excessive profanity (though any profanity in a doctor's office should be excessive) in the few minutes I was waiting for my appt. The doctors and nurses, on the other hand, are extremely professional and good at their jobs. They are current on new treatments. Frankly, the ONLY reason I will continue to go back is because of this. read more

In desperation with only one Dr. In the zip code, he's a distant second from good enough. After 6 visits for the same issue and couple of hundred dollars out of pocket for useless ointments and lotions,,I found a real good doctor and never looked back. Ideally, Dr Greenberg would blow by on his way to the next exam room, preferable without actually walking into the room to see you in person. Kinda like a breeze of hot air passing through the hallway. If internet healthcare with papal ever makes it, he'll do real well. Until he perfects the logistics of doing so, he is obligated to at least make an appearance, even if it's just long enough to say hi bye, see you in 2wks. I've been a patient for a number of years. I'm receiving light and pharos treatments once a week. I am satisfied with the interactions. They are all professionals. It is nice to be around thoughtful, caring, and beautiful professionals. I have psoriasis patches and I recognized I needed external help without drugs. My oncologist had instructed me that I couldn't use biologics. Dr Greenberg spelled out a more natural plan for me without drugs and I've on it for awhile. My psoriasis is in check. I'm happy. Dr. Greenberg is okay, nothing to rave about but he would not be the reason I would not come back. Although I feel staff behavior sometimes comes from the top. Customer service is so important, from front desk to back office. Allow me to explain, I walked in aware that I was early, had no intentions to be seen however when I announced myself to the front desk.
