Ugh! What a steal! Burritos are huge! Tacos are so big. But soooo delicious. I wish there were more access to toppings but it was so worth it. The service is always on point. The cashier is such a vibe and loves to talk. He's so funny! I highly recommend the surf & turf burrito. Totally worth it. A must visit.

I enjoy Robertos always have. But they let me down this evening. My carne asada chimichanga wasn't made properly & didn't fry long enough. The tortilla was chewy?? They did attempt to make it as requested no lettuce salsa on the side didn't want it to be soggy by the time I got home. I asked for I extra guacamole that didn't occur. It looked as though it was spread over the cheese under it but wasn't the same as extra. Needless to say I couldn't eat half of it. My daughters got fish taco, shrimp bowl with rice beans, new item and is plenty no need for more. Well glcooked & flavorful. The Fish Taco the fish was good a bit overcooked. And my other daughter got her usual bean cheese & there weren't any complaints from her on that. Hoping the next time we decide to travel across town to our usual spot it will be worth it.

If the "Do better." was a dish, this would be it. They call this an enchilada?

I should have gotten the hint the first time when they got my order wrong. This time they gave me an enchilada that wasn't even cooked! Just a tortilla with sauce on it. The only way this place is in business is because of drunk and/or stoned people. If you're neither of those and just want some decent Mexican fast food, go elsewhere. There plenty of other options! This is not an enchilada as advertised. The accompanying photo is a an uncooked tortilla, room temperature cheese and enchilada sauce on it. Believe me when I say that the best thing you can get from here...is a refund. You work too damn hard for your money to get ripped off.

Original carne asada burrito for dine in

Robertos Taco Shop in Hillcrest is serving up some great tasting Mexican food and tasty Carne asada burritos! I was in the area and was looking to smash something that would be quick and fast, and in the corner of my eye was Robertos. They are located in Hillcrest in a parking strip area with a small parking lot for easy access to the Taco shop. Their menu offers many different varietys of food such as breakfast burritos, tacos, and enchiladas platters. I had my eye on the Carne asada burrito with Pico de gallo. The order was ready in no time and was looking fantastic. The burrito was huge and stuffed nicely. The tortilla had a nice char on it as to it was cooked on the grill, giving it great texture as when you eat it. The Carne asada meat was seasoned to perfection and was very tender. The onions and tomatoes with fresh cuts of cilantro and lime really added a second layer of flavor and paired very nice with the burrito. The house made salsa complimented the dish very well, and the green salsa was my personal favorite. This was a great Taco shop to eat at, and the food and customer service were on point. The burrito wasn't greasy or wet but packed with flavor. The house salsas were tasty and had a nice kick to them. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying something else they have to offer here at Robertos.

Breakfast California add Guac

This is my go-to spot for a quick burrito. I always get the breakfast California burrito with added guac--probably my favorite burrito in all of San Diego County. The parking can be a bit tough, and getting out of the lot isn't easy, but the burrito is totally worth it. Roberto's is one of those chains that's always solid and consistent. If I'm craving Mexican food and don't know the area, I know I can count on Roberto's for a good experience, whether I'm in Hillcrest or National City. Pro tip: Get the breakfast California burrito and add guac!

It's as clear as day.

It's been 2 years since I ordered from them. The no hot sauce in the bag is a deal breaker for me. Gave them another chance this morning. $53 dollars later & yet again NO hot sauce in the bag. Not a single one. Never freaking again. What taco shop sends Mexican food without even 1 hot sauce for effs sake. Done with you forever.

Great little taco shop. The beans are really good. Service is quick and friendly. There is limited parking in the lot in front.

My coworker and I got the elote and the chicken tinga cheese crisp to share. The elote was okay. The chorizo wasn't like Roberto's so there was no grease dripping down my hands. That usually means either too much eggs or better quality meat. I think it was the latter. It tasted like restaurant chorizo. We sat down and enjoyed our stay. The flow of customers was consistent for a Saturday morning. Our favorite was the vibe. We are so lucky to get Mex at any corner. So something really has to stand out. It felt like a family taco shop. The "Dad" was the best! He called the orders like he was asking if we did our chores and called the kids coming in mijo. He made sure that we had what we needed - reminding us to "eat all" of our food then danced behind the counter. It was a fun breakfast.

We left right away to pick up the food and sure enough it was ready waiting for our arrival. One quick drive back home to dig in and the aroma was so enticing. California Burritos is very apt for their name, my bf rates it a 10/10. As a California Burrito connoisseur, he liked the addition of sour cream in it and said the flavors were delicious. He topped it with their green salsa for a little bit of a freshness to cut through the richness and fattiness of the meat and fries in the burrito. He didn't care for the fish taco that much and rated it a 4/10 but said the restaurant overall was a 10/10, as he thought there was too much lettuce and tomato throwing off the ratio of the taco. I, on the other hand, am a huge fan of veggies and liked the ample amount they provided. ---- There's a couple benches outside in front of the shop and seating at booth tables inside as well. It's a bit smaller to sit inside, I recommend sitting outside to enjoy the fresh air and the sunset is beautiful. ---- Overall: if you're in the mood for California Burritos come to the place rightly named California Burritos!

The tenders were more like chicken breasts but cut into tenders. However they were still very good!! I tried the sichuan seasoning on the side and I really liked it. It reminded me of shichimi seasoning and had a mild spice. I believe you can order it spicier if you wish. As for sides, my kids got the fries and the fries were excellent. Someone in our party got the mashed potato and that was excellent also. My favorite side however was the hainan rice!!! It was so flavorful and fluffy, my daughter loved it as well.
