Between the tailgate being down and boxes on the sidewalk it was already a narrow passage. And with the guy standing and unloading impossible to get by.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So far so good. The guy's working; I'm in no rush . I don't say anything and just patiently wait. Finally he notices me. The polite thing to do would be to say, "Excuse me," and let me pass. But he doesn't do that. The minimum thing to do would be to step aside and let me pass. No need to say anything. But he doesn't do that either. Instead he takes a long look at me, as if sizing me up. Then steps aside and starts talking in Spanish. I don't speak much Spanish but know a sarcastic tone when I hear one. I understand "orale." When I'm a good 20 feet past I hear the word "Madre" as his final utterance. I doubt he was wishing my mother good health. So I'm just not going to go here any more. Really good burritos for a great price. Was in San Diego for the weekend, needed a good breakfast and Roberto's does it right. The California surf and turf burrito was only $14 for a very generous size. Their red salsa was a stand out to me and the shrimp in the burrito was quite good as well. I enjoy Robertos always have. But they let me down this evening. My carne asada chimichanga wasn't made properly & didn't fry long enough. The tortilla was chewy?? They did attempt to make it as requested no lettuce salsa on the side didn't want it to be soggy by the time I got home. I asked for I extra guacamole that didn't occur. It looked as though it was spread over the cheese under it but wasn't the same as extra. Needless to say I couldn't eat half of it. My daughters got fish taco, shrimp bowl with rice beans, new item and is plenty no need for more. Well glcooked & flavorful. The Fish Taco the fish was good a bit overcooked. I should have gotten the hint the first time when they got my order wrong. This time they gave me an enchilada that wasn't even cooked! Just a tortilla with sauce on it. The only way this place is in business is because of drunk and/or stoned people. If you're neither of those and just want some decent Mexican fast food, go elsewhere. There plenty of other options! Wanted 2 fish tacos à la cart They are 6$ each or get 2 in a combo with rice and beans for 11$. Pricing makes no sense. Ordered combo and planned to throw away the sides. Robertos Taco Shop in Hillcrest is serving up some great tasting Mexican food and tasty Carne asada burritos! I was in the area and was looking to smash something that would be quick and fast, and in the corner of my eye was Robertos. They are located in Hillcrest in a parking strip area with a small parking lot for easy access to the Taco shop. Their menu offers many different varietys of food such as breakfast burritos, tacos, and enchiladas platters. I had my eye on the Carne asada burrito with Pico de gallo. The order was ready in no time and was looking fantastic. The burrito was huge and stuffed nicely. The tortilla had a nice char on it as to it was cooked on the grill, giving it great texture as when you eat it. The Carne asada meat was seasoned to perfection and was very tender. The onions and tomatoes with fresh cuts of cilantro and lime really added a second layer of flavor and paired very nice with the burrito. The house made salsa complimented the dish very well, and the green salsa was my personal favorite. This was a great Taco shop to eat at, and the food and customer service were on point. The burrito wasn't greasy or wet but packed with flavor. The house salsas were tasty and had a nice kick to them. This is my go-to spot for a quick burrito. I always get the breakfast California burrito with added guac--probably my favorite burrito in all of San Diego County. The parking can be a bit tough, and getting out of the lot isn't easy, but the burrito is totally worth it. Roberto's is one of those chains that's always solid and consistent. If I'm craving Mexican food and don't know the area, I know I can count on Roberto's for a good experience, whether I'm in Hillcrest or National City. Parked my car at the Rite aid, and I smell a tasty smelling of a cooked aroma floated in the air. Well that sure triggered my tummy... I got to the intersection of 5th Ave and Robinson and lift my nose to the air trying to pinpoint where that sweet aroma came from. First I thought it was the Japanese restaurant, but when I got there. That aroma wasn't from it, so I reverted toward the other side and sniffed it once again. I find it's on the other side. So I walked to this place. My nose knows lol. Anyways inside this place, it's one of those papa mama joints. Small places but packed lots of delicious and plentiful dishes. A YouTuber by his channel of JulioSd1970, recommended the fish taco. He wasn't joking. The size of the fish taco is massive!!! You can feed a small family with it!! This was our first time here and we were pretty disappointed. Stopped by the dry cleaners across the street, saw this taco shop, and instantly craved some burritos. My husband and I ordered two California burritos and added gauc and sour cream to both. We unfortunately ordered it to go and did not eat the burritos until we came home. To my disappointment, my burrito did not have the guac and sour cream we added on!
