We recently had the opportunity to accompany Marion PROUTEAU on a tour of the Paris Marais, with the arts and patisseries of the Marais as the focus of the tour. We were lucky with the weather in Paris, less cold and moist than normal, despite a small drizzle towards the end of the tour when we were having a coffee and a wonderful éclair from a shop Marion has turned us on to. Marion is a perfectly bi-lingual guide ( although we gave her a break and most of the tour was conducted in French for us to improve OUR language skills ! ). We were treated to what was basically an intense behind the scenes tour of the Marais, a fascinating part of Paris not normally on all guide routes. I have been there before, but this tour opened up many aspects and hidden delicacies not discovered by us before now. The tour is conducted entirely on foot so a good pair of walking shoes is recommended. Just when tired old feet started to lag from visiting fascinating private art galleries, lo and behold the best " profiterole" shop in Paris and maybe the world appeared. After a delicious break, more discoveries and Marais history followed, until the best eclairs in the world appeared on the itinerary. Who knew these treasures were tucked away on the side streets ? Not us !
Marion is a very good guide, mixing history, art, food and politics in a jam packed tour. We were very satisfied with the value of this tour and if anyone has these same interests as we, you could not do better than to sign up with her. read more
