Went here awhile ago with two other friends (around 3 years ago) It was surprisingly empty. The owner came out from the kitchen/employee side and greeted us with a warm smile. He was so helpful with guiding us what to get and suggesting popular dishes The appetizers were delicious! I remember it being a type of bread and red sauce We had lamb as our main dish with other sides which was amazing! The food was so tender and rich in flavor I was shocked by it At the end the owner gave us some Russian chocolate and talked about his business with us. It was a lovely conversation and the chocolates were some of the best chocolate I've ever had I was so shocked to see why the place was so empty, it was clean, well kept, beautiful decorations, and a warm vibe! (Then again it was during Covid times) The outside of the restaurant isn't the best but what can you expect from LA? I still think about this place and the amazing experience I had which was years ago. I've always wanted to write a review and now I am! The whole experience was unpleasant. I came in around 230pm on a Saturday. The restaurant only had two tables. I ordered the beef stroganoff which comes with a soup and choice of 2 sides. I opted for the borcht soup as that's what I see what other reviewers are getting. The side of soup just tasted like boiled beets water with some cabbage and 1 potatoe. I assume there would be meat as well..but mine didn't have any. No flavor. For my sides, of the 3 available choices of rice, potatoes and vegetables. I requested veggies and potatoes and was told they didn't have any and they can do mashed potatoes instead. I said that was fine. 5 mins later the waitress said they don't have any mashed potatoes and if I was ok with double veggies. I wasn't thrilled and I didn't have much other options. I thought that was weird for them to not have 2 of 3 sides available. Not like I came late and they run out... The whole time while waiting I hear some coughing coming from the kitchen and I was a bit worried since no one wore mask and I heard they used the microwave pretty frequently. They had a few people come in to pick up to go orders. That shows me that the food is not fresh because it's just reheated food. After a bit my came out and it looks like hospital cafeteria food. The veggies are boiled with no seasoning. Bland. The beef stroganoff was decent. I sat by the front of the entrance. While eating I was put off by people smoking in front outside. A lot of the staff hangout in front and smoke. Every time the door open I get a whiff of cigarette smoke while eating and I do not like the smell. Halfway eating my meal I notice two dishes came out which looks a lot like the potatoes that I originally wanted. I asked for the check and inquired about the potatoes I saw and she said it was rice not potatoes. I know what I saw. Then another guy tried to show me the menu and i said yes, that's what I wanted. He said, but you ordered vegetables. I said, yeah cause I was told that's all yall had! (I didn't want rice). He said sorry and the girl acknowledged her mistake. I dined with my husband at the restaurant after the Nova Music Festival exhibition in Culver City. We were very pleased with our dining experience there. The environment was nice and decorated with Russian souvenirs. The hostess was friendly (do not take her serious face as a bad service - she will warm up to you and perform a great service) We were given the complimentary salad along with the bread after we did the orders The beer was great - I got Kalik (lager beer). We ordered the entree that comes with soup (we got borscht along with sour cream and black bread). I got Chicken La Kiev and my husband got the beef stroganoff. Mashed potatoes were good. Vegetables were decent. We also got Napoleon Cake (great one!) aliong with espresso. Pretty great food with great service. Okay first of all, who is Robert? Totally not a Russian name. However, as an Eastern European food destination: Robert's Cuisine delivered. I came here to catch up with some friends who live in LA. They know I'm obsessed with khinkali dumplings and we were trying to settle on a place to eat that worked for everyone & considering LA traffic, so this place won out based on convenience. Well, it nailed the experience -- so if you're looking for an affordable, authentic experience to Eastern European food, Robert's Russian Cuisine is a great destination. PARKING: Was able to find a spot at the restaurant, although they can be hard to get. FOOD: Khinkali - delicious appetizer if you like soup dumplings...I'm a total addict. I had a Sturgeon Kabob which was delicious and affordable, served with pomegranate sauce. Definitely recommend! SERVICE: Kind, unassuming and attentive. Everything you would want. My wife and I love visiting this small but superb place on a regular basis to enjoy mouthwatering Russian food. We usually get a variety of things including Grilled Combo and Blinchiki. Really: Blinchiki is a must. I can never get enough of them. At the end of our little ceremony, we always enjoy Russian tea with preserved cherries. What you see on the picture are pelmeni (in the red plate) and blinchiki. A variety of dishes from the former Soviet republics, Armenian, Russian, Ukrainian, Georgian...Grilled sturgeon was excellent, we will be back to try Robert's other seafood options like Branzino and salmon. Delicious! Came in during the day, so only a few tables were occupied. The lunch started off with complimentary bread and pita that came along with slightly spicy sauce with a minor kick. I then ordered something I have always wanted to try ever since I saw that Rugrats episode as a child - borscht! Every spoonful was amazing. The vegetables mixed with a bit of sour cream created a light and delightful combination. By far, this soup was one of my favorite portions of the entire meal. I believe my eyes were extremely hungry and I ended up ordering many items that looked good even though I could not finish everything in that one sitting. Three blintzes (crepes with beef) came next, but I had to take them home with me. I made more room for the chicken shish kabob, the main event. There was so much flavor in this dish. The marinated and skinless chicken skewered and charbroiled was just enough to make this whole experience satisfying. We used to come here all of the time 10 years ago. It was one of our favorite restaurants. This weekend we decided to come back for dinner. We had a HORRIBLE experience. The food, at best, was below mediocre and the service was ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. Both the owner and the waitress were constantly smoking outside, never asked once if we needed anything. The smoking outside is completely unsanitary and ruins the aroma of the food and the air. We were missing one of our food items so when I asked the owner she said "what do you want? For me to bring them raw?" She said this in a completely demeaning attitude. Will never be back, and neither should you. read more

Super affordable spread of Russian + food! We have enjoyed this place for over 20 years and to this day it doesn't disappoint. We ordered a la cart and enjoyed several salads, mushroom Julian, kabobs and chicken Kiev. The staff was accommodating and offered suggestions throughout the evening. Favorite dish was the chicken Kiev and potatoes. The pickled veggies are a personal favorite as well. The only thing I'll say is that the smoking from outside drifts in, but over all great food and venue. read more

Really good beef stroganoff and dumplings! The bread they have is AMAZING with their spicy marinara sauce with it kinda makes an adult lunchable pizza. Excellent pizza and it looks like they have parking. 100% worth a stop! Never had russian food, man was I missing out! read more

You can tell the restaurant is very old school when you walk in. The manager was very friendly and the waitress was helpful on what was on the menu since we weren't really familiar with Russian food. We order two dumplings, soup, eggplant caviar, and greek salad. We could have done with the greek salad. The manage taught us how to eat the dumplings and it was a fun dining experience. read more

I had the borscht, beef Stroganoff and the khinkali. The borscht a.k.a the Russian/Ukrainian beet soup was so bad that I didn't care to finish it and I thought that I had a pretty low bar for borscht. The beef Stroganoff a.k.a. the Russian sautéd beef in sour cream tasted weird too. The gravy was too milky, fattening and thick with that sugary taste from the milk. Yack. But the beef was cooked pretty good. The khinkalis a.k.a Georgian dumplings with minced beef/pork filling and trapped meat juices had really good meat but they were undercooked to the point that I could see flour as I bit into the top, the dough was pretty thick. They were juicy too. Portions were good size. I hope I get better luck next time but now I have no idea when's that next time going to be. read more

Ordered delivery today, came blazing fast and hot in sad styrofoam but I was pleased by the temp ‍ Here's what I got: Golubtsy: These came piping hot, the styrofoam container they were in was mad struggling. The golubtsy were very flavorful and super soft... a little bit *too* soft for my liking. Starting to get borderline soggy, falling apart in a maybe-a-tad-overcooked way but flavor was great. Three pieces per order. Olivier salad: Not the traditional way I have it at home, seems to be missing eggs and the protein was chicken (?) rather than traditional smoked beef sausage. I guess that wasn't specified on their Uber Eats menu. The chicken was very shredded and a bit bland. Potatoes could have been cooked a couple minutes more. Overall the peas were a but overpowering, and the salad in general tasted like they were sitting in a deli tray for a while. I would pass on this next time. Khinkali: Overpowering cilantro flavor, but comforting and soupy nevertheless. Skin was thicker than what I usually prefer. But this is my first time trying this Georgian dish so I don't have much to compare to! On the other hand the thicker skin guaranteed that the filling was deliciously soupy, so +1 for that! Chicken kholodets: This was our favorite! Clean, light, taste, nice balance between chicken and dill. Would definitely get this again. A little under-seasoned compared to the other dishes we got but it was refreshing. The food came with some Arabic bread (store-bought) but I'm not sure which dish it specifically came with. I'm not entirely sure if I would come back again but if I did I think I would try an entirely new set of dishes. While none of the food I got was BAD, it wasn't super impressive either. Maybe it's what I ordered but it didn't taste like fresh homemade food but rather reheated food from a deli counter/prepped the day before and reheated. But they are close, fast, and convenient. Maybe dining in house and trying some of their kabob plates may be better! read more

I am actually impressed with this place. The menu is fairly extensive and it has most Soviet cuisine on it (Russian, Ukranian, Armenian, Georgian). Their meals are BIG, you should not be hungry after even an appetizer with no entrees. I thought the food was delicious, even the dessert was yum, which is often butchered. This restaurant is an experience everyone must try. The food is unique and it's cooked and seasoned so well that I was honestly shocked by how much I fell in love with the food. Plus, the food did not feel heavy at all. I get full really easily but I was able to eat my plate (Beef Lula) , my soup (Kharcho) , my appetizer (bread) , and Pelmeni. Or maybe I just loved it so much that I could not get enough! The service was amazing too, the waiter was really kind and he tended to our needs. Lastly, try out the chocolates! I regret not buying a pack of chocolate because that was the best chocolate I've ever had.
