I was introduced to William Paul Motor Engineering by my dad, who uses the garage too. It is a family run independent garage servicing the Kirkcudbrightshire area. William Paul carries out full garage services including: all makes servicing, vehicle repairs, MOT testing, diagnostics, breakdown recovery and wash & vacuuming. Ok, so it's a little far from my home (108 miles) in the Dumfries and Galloway region, but taking my car there and back is worth it. Yes, I'm probably spending over £40 on mileage to get there and back to Edinburgh, but it is still cheaper than going to an Edinburgh garage, plus I get to visit my folks when down there for the weekend! The garage is officially open Mon - Fri 08:00-18:00, Sat 08:00-12:00 and Sun Closed, but I usually find William and co working on cars well into the night at 8pm and starting 7am. William Paul is a very hard working and trust worthy mechanic. His business is fairly new, but I've heard nothing but good things about him. The constant stream of vehicles in a out of his garage is a fine example of his good work. I use William Paul for my MOTs and servicing and he can usually have it back to me after one morning - assuming there are no major issues. He keeps me up to date on his progress with my car and always forewarns me if there are an major issues or expense, prior to carrying out the work. Some garages just go ahead and fix it regardless of checking you are able to afford the bill! Labour is charged out at £25 per hour, which is very reasonable. I'm glad to see his business doing so well and I will continue to support his venture, even though it's a 2 and a half hour drive there!

I stand by what I had said, that the Garage in St John's Town of Dalry, does not favour any of it's customers, big or small. They are providing a wide range of services, in a rural area, which from a tourist aspect, is one of the hidden jewels in Scotland. The staff are courteous and helpful, the range of services and purchases ample and you can fuel up 24 hours a day. This review is in response to the services available, not an incident or activity which may have caused a passing customer to have to reverse due to the attendance of other customers and feel that this was unacceptable, and to even expect the staff at the garage to intervene. As a local, who live some 2 miles from the Garage and have lived here for over 30 years, I would offer one word of caution to any passing tourist. be mindful that the beauty, tranquillity and openness of the countryside can be misleading although rural, there just might be another customer at the Garage at the same time as you!. There are many reasons to visit Dumfries and Galloway, and just as many to use the services on those businesses within it. All they do is aim to give good customer service, as you will find at Bones Garage. I only give it 4 stars as I have exceptionally high expectations .they don't come out to serve the fuel as they used to.

Needed to fill the new car with petrol…read more The Scot stopped here because it was less expensive at 1.29 pound per litre. He filled the tank and was amazed at how much his new car takes. The pumps were clean and the area was free of debris. There was no malfunction in the machine.
