Before the procedure, I filled out a waiver that explained what dermaplaning was and possible side effects, and I appreciated that they were honest about what the procedure entailed. The procedure itself took about 20 minutes (estimate) and just felt like someone scratching my skin a bit. It's hard to explain, but it was never uncomfortable. First your skin is cleansed and a hot towel is applied to soften skin before the procedure. After, I had the choice of a Vitamin C, collagen, or moisturizing sheet mask (I went with collagen), which was left on for about another 20 minutes. Finally, serums and creams were applied. I had brought my own sunscreen, but if you don't have any they will also apply that for you. Overall my experience was great and I would definitely re-book for another dermaplaning appointment!

Costs vary on the area that you are going to have lasered. If you compare prices and get consultations at other laser spas, I think you will find Lorraine's prices very reasonable. After my Groupon ran out, she continued to honor the price that I paid for additional sessions. The treatments are working slowly but surely, and not everyone has the same results. I only took off a star because the procedure isn't always comfortable, but Lorraine does a great job with making it a seamless experience. I also have to say that I am happy with how easy going of a person Lorraine is. I was sick and didn't want to irritate the skin under my nose with the lasers, because it was already dried out. She was really great about being understanding and rescheduling me for a later date. All of my appointments have run on time, and normally only last 15 minutes.

Beyond that, the setting was nice and clean. Staff were friendly and my technician remembered me and what was happening in my life even when I was only coming in once every two months or so! The stylist, for one, was miserable, like my request was a burden to her, and two, she didn't use any product. Not a single one. I had to take the braids out within an hour because they looked so bad. I ended up paying a random person on the street $10 to re-braid my hair with love light and product, and it was gorgeous.

Finding the right building can be a bit confusing, but they are labeled so that made it easier. The rooms were heated nicely, which was very pleasant given it is so cold out! The massage itself was fabulous. The tables were plush with warm blankets. They started the massage with hot steam and a sugar scrub, which is rare for massages and we definitely appreciated the additional skincare. They then went into a long stroke massage with oil and put a lot of attention to tense areas. Another great part of the massage was the use of hot stones and towels - very relaxing! A feature that I find very unique about Royal Zen's massages is their music choice. The first time my sister and I went it was classic R&B and this time it was smooth jazz. Shanice and Sheniel are experienced enough to massage to the beat of the music, which made the experience very memorable! Overall, Royal Zen is a fantastic place to get a massage!
