Requested the Gearbox for my 2007 Vw Golf 1.9 several times through a online website but couldn't find a quote which matched my budget, even though Rochdale Vehicle Breakers was the cheapest. So I finally decided to contact them to make purchase, but before that I asked if there could be any discount given. The original quotation was £635.99 which included next working day delivery. I spoke to the manager and he discounted the price to £600.00. Even though it wasn't a large figure it still made a big difference to me. I ordered the part and it was here in the afternoon the next day. The parts was fitted to my vehicle and it was exactly described. Coming upto 5 months the part is still warranted another month but the gearbox has gone slightly noisy. Spoke to Kevin who I dealt with first and he suggested the Clutch Flywheel was the cause. I took it into dealers and the diagnosed the fault to be the clutch flywheel but they come out with a ridiculous price of £764 + VAT. I rang Kevin once again and he sent me one with low miles for £125. The car now drives a dream with all thanks to Rochdale Vehicle Breakers and especially Kevin. Unfortunately, my experience with this company has been disgusting. They sent me a second hand air con compressor (through 1st choice) which when fitted by my local garage, immediately failed. OK I thought, these things happen. It came with a 3 month warranty, so I called them up and spoke to Mohammed. He said that they would not send me a replacement unless I told them the specific part number on the compressor?! I called my garage and they said that the car would have to come back to the garage, and the part removed in order to read that, and also could not understand why they would need this (especially as they did not need a part number in the first place!) I called back, and with a bit of persuasion, he agreed to send me the replacement. Two weeks lated I called back to see why I hadn't received it, and was told the same thing. No part number, no replacement. A 30 minute argument later, which I decided to record as his attitude was disgusting, he again agreed to send me a replacement. Again, nothing. The 3 month Warranty is worth nothing. My personal advice is do not trust this company, as they could not care less that a part they sent me had failed, and have no intention of sending me another, let alone get a refund. read more

Through 1st choice spares i purchased a fuel pump for £250 with 4week warranty and next day delivery. It arrived a week later, i had it fitted at a cost of £180 and it was the wrong part. I called them and 3 weeks later another arrived, had it fitted at a cost of £180 and it failed. Called them back for a refund and they said no refunds but they'll send me another one. 2 weeks later it arrived and sure enough it failed again. £360 in labour fitting faulty parts. Called them asking for a refund and they said no, they will keep sending pumps until one works. They are rude on the phone once they have your money and will not help you in any way, they told me everyday for 3 weeks they had processed the refund that day and it never came, then got angry with me when i asked to have emailed proof of the refund they had processed It took four months to get a refund and 1st choice spares were no help and claimed they have no reason to stop using them as a supplier. Once i gave the engine into the garage i was told the head of the engine was gone, so it was not functionable. I phoned them up and i was told the engine was in good condition, so they were refusing to refund. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE CROOKS Purchased two seats for my van, the guy on the phone said that they were in perfect condition and complete. When they arrived both seats lokked as if they had been used in a back grease factory, now I do realise that breakers yards are not the cleanest of places but these wrew really filthy. There was also a head restraint missing and the passenger seat back was cracked, hardly perfect and complete. When I emailed them they told me to get the seats valeted and they would pay for this.
