Summary Review. Rock 30 Games may come across as a bit of a schizophrenic store due to the variety of products (disc golf, DVDs, video games) but it is anything but. Being the only way, outside of pawn shops, that an individual can track down a classic movie, video game or system. A friendly staff and locally owned makes this place even more desirable. Long Review. Way back in 2003, Rock 30 Games (Rock 30 from here on out) took Bismarck by storm. While the location was a bit tricky to get to, and you could easily pass by the place if you didn't look for it, Rock 30 offered something that Bismarck wasn't familiar with. A video game store that carried a wide variety of both consoles and video games dating all the way to Atari. Further more, the store was casually run by a gentleman named Andrew along with some other great individuals that helped out. There was a charm to the whole place, despite the original store being made out of a previous home, that gave it a memorable experience. Combined with friendly service and fair pricing, Rock 30 was the place to go to either buy, trade in or sell. Flash forward, and Rock 30 has grown into a company with several stores spanning several cities in North Dakota alongside an ever-evolving concept. Aside from this history lesson, and the reason I continue to shop at Rock 30, is how friendly the place is. Rock 30 isn't interested in trying to get you to reserve a product, or subscribe to something. They're all about you finding what you're looking for, and seeing what they can do to help you along that way. While still being a business, they're more about bringing back a casual-yet-professional experience that seems to be lost in the sea of corporations. I actually go out of my way to mail products from my home in Arizona back to Bismarck whenever I plan on going into Rock 30 because they offer by far some of the best prices for trading in products. What may be a trade in? It's the act of taking a product that they'll accept, and trading it in either towards cash (if it is an option) or towards something else in the store. Since selling things online is time consuming, I like the option of being able to still rely on Rock 30 to offer me a fair price and in return collect anything I may need in their incredible library of product. Which leads me to probably the best point of Rock 30. The depth of product. Rock 30 may not have a very large store, but the amount of material they have in their database or that they can get it (at the time or this review they could still order in products for customers) is astonishing. While it generally is more of a gamble if you'll get a complete product or not, they guarantee it to be working and will do whatever necessary should any complications arise. Add in a repair station for video game consoles, a disc buffering station to repair any minor damage your video games/CDs/DVDs/Blurays may suffer and Rock 30 seems to do absolutely everything. This place is a total rip off, I bought a Sony Playstation 1 here brought it home and it wouldn't any of my games. When I brought it back to the store they rudely told me the system was working before I bought it and it was my fault it was broken. Very bad experience! Two thumbs down! read more

Terrible service, with no accountability. Employees treat job as a place to hangout, instead of place of employment. While also offering a rewards program that contacts you at 12:30A.M.-_-. In my own experience, Game stop or ordering online is not only more pleasant, but usually ends up being cheaper as well, with service that holds accountability for not only their items, but themselves and their employees. Never have I ever received such poor service got treated worse than when I started working there the manager is ignorant doesn't listen to customers treats his employees like shit and only cares about himself will never go back and I have been going there for over 7 years loved the store but now I can't stand it because of the store managers doesn't care about the customers refuses to acknowledge some customers and steals money from employees and blames everyone else for his mistakes would be a better place without him Rock 30 will never be back to what it used to be until they fire him they are losing a lot of business having him run the store and he doesn't even know how to do his job and pushes everything on the employees and then tales them into the back and yells at them and when he feels like an employee is more knowledgeable then him he finds a way to get him fired or makes everyone else feel uncomfortable about working there or being there when he is he doesn't know what he is talking and constantly has to ask for help or call another store for help and when your manager doesn't know what he is doing how can the employee he trains know what they are doing so as long as don't work don't show up or kiss his ass then you are fine but if you actually work he is threatened because then you make him look bad he also bad mouths customers after they leave the store if they know more than he does about something he ruined my favorite store and he is the worst person I have ever worked with Tim is the worst thing that ever happened to that place so if you want to be ignored not helped and be told the wrong information about your games or consoles keep going there but if you want a good experience go online read more

I used to work at GameStop and I can honestly say I have always preferred Rock30. They don't have pushy customer service, the guys that work there do not judge you (I am a girl I can't go into a gaming store usually and have conversations about upcoming releases without being looked at like I am stupid) and they have a wide variety of games. l also love that they have classic games and consoles. I have bought over a dozen Nintendo 64 games and find it so much easier to buy them in store rather than online. Also they have a standard return policy, if they don't work. I had bought a game there once and the sticker was incorrect, I thought I was buying a six dollar game instead of a twelve dollar game. I went back in and the guy gave me a refund. I know they do this at other places too, but it was fast and an extremely simple process. I almost like the whole open customer service environment. Not too friendly, but not rude.
