This place was absolutely amazing! Visiting my mom from California and came to spend a couple days in Chattanooga. Based on the other reviews, we decided to give it a try. Soooo happy we did. We spent over 4 hours here! We took our time wandering through all the trails and caves. We did spend an hour or so taking a break from the rain and had lunch at Cafe 7. The Chili Bowl was delicious but lukewarm. I had the Mistletoe Mule and my mom had a Spiked Cider. Both were great. Buy tickets online and they're $20 per person cheaper! For $24 person, I felt like this was a great value since we pretty much spent the whole day here. I LOVE that there was no guided tour and that we could just wander around at our own pace

I am in love with this place; I couldn't rave enough! Vibe: I arrived on a Wednesday after booking my tickets online a week prior. I got there at 10 a.m., right when it opened, and there were barely three other families with us. Since it was winter, the place was cold and windy because of the altitude. The Walk: The tour was self-guided, with arrows, signs, and several small trails leading to the lookout spot. The trail was uniquely interesting, taking us over rocks and past a 100-foot waterfall, through a section called Fat Man's Squeeze between large boulders, across the Swing-A-Long Bridge between trees; we had it all! During the holiday season, speakers along the trail played festive music in the background. The trails weren't very long (just under a mile), but the view and experience were so beautiful that we didn't want to rush and ended up spending about two hours there, taking numerous photos. Overall, the trail wasn't physically demanding, though there were stairs and narrow spots, and many toddlers were along for the walk. The View: Several highlights stood out, as there were multiple viewpoints. One was Lover's Leap, which was very peaceful, especially because hardly anyone was there. It offered a view of "seven states" on a clear day -Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Virginia. Binoculars were also available for rent to get a closer look. It was serene and picturesque. Another favorite was the viewpoint between two rocks, offering an incredible, surreal, and fascinating view. The Flow: Signs guided us throughout the tour, and maps were also available during the tour and at the entrance. While Lover's Leap is a popular spot, it is large enough that crowds tend to disperse quickly. Benches and restrooms were conveniently placed along the trail, ensuring a pleasant walking experience. Extra Sauce: The ticket price was absolutely worth the experience; it's one of those attractions where the value easily matches what you pay. A visit early in the morning is ideal to avoid the crowd. Rock City combines natural beauty with thoughtful human design. There is a romantic, poignant story behind Lover's Leap that adds to the experience. There are cafes and restaurants at the lookout point, along with a gift shop filled with beautiful items. The woman working there was bubbly and friendly, helping us find exactly what we wanted. Free parking is available outside the attraction, with a Starbucks opposite the entrance for coffee.

The Christmas Experience! This is a must young and old. Mobility needs to be considered as lots of stairs. There are also tight spots to fit through, If you need to bring a stroller I recommend you wait on this attraction. The lights and ambiance amazing. I thought I'd be uncomfortable in the evening but every path lit up great.

Two adults, two kids (6 and 8 yrs), and a dog - and everyone loved it! Admission seemed expensive but we enjoyed the grounds for 3 hours. We had lunch at Cafe 7 and admired the vista halfway between. This place can only be described as magical! Everything was so well maintained and unique. We all loved it and my kids are insisting we come back next year too.

This place was my favorite on this trip! I had a lovely time walking through Rock City, seeing the unique things, and feeling like I was in a fairy tail realm. The fairy tale exhibit was adorable and definitely gave me a feeling of nostalgia. Loved it! I also enjoyed the stunning views over Lookout Mountain, being able to see 7 places at once from here, and the whole welcoming vibe of this place. Truly a gem and a must visit for all! If you have the chance, definitely go here; it is beautiful!

If you ever want to step into a fairytale carved from stone, Rock City Gardens is that hidden realm waiting to be explored. I came here on a solo adventure and somehow ended up finding a little bit of magic (and maybe even a little more of myself) along the way. The journey starts with narrow stone corridors that feel like nature's secret passages -- moss-covered, cool, and whispering stories from another time. As I followed the twisting trails, I found waterfalls glowing in neon light, whimsical caves straight out of a dream, and bridges that made me feel like I'd crossed into another world. Every corner was a photo-worthy surprise -- especially Lover's Leap, where the view opens up to a breathtaking panorama said to span seven states! Standing there, wind in my hair, I couldn't help but smile -- not just because the view was unreal, but because the whole experience felt like a reminder to slow down and let wonder in. If you ever find yourself near Chattanooga, don't skip this enchanted garden on the mountain. Whether you come with friends, family, or just your own adventurous heart, Rock City will show you how beautiful it is to get a little lost -- and to see how far you can see.

My favorite thing to do in the Chattanooga area, hands down. So whimsical and fun, outdoors, dog friendly, and just the coolest experience ending with the 7 state overlook. The history is fun to learn about and they keep you engaged the entire experience. Rock city is one of those attractions that you kind of have to see and experience for yourself, it may seem cheesy but you will not regret it! Worth the price, but buy tickets online because they are a little cheaper! Perfect thing to do with kids and dogs.

We really enjoyed our visit. Our ticket time was for 10:45 am. We walked the whole thing and then did some other things around town. We returned at 7:00 to enjoy the lights. The weather was perfect. The views were great! You will encounter some steep steps and some narrow spaces. I think the entrance price is a little excessive.

OMG!! This is one of my favorite places on earth!!! I'm originally from SW Florida and have only been out of the state a couple of times and when I came here the other day.. WOW, my mind was blown. We came around sunset and the weather was stunning. I had the most magical time walking around with my friends. The views were incredible and the food (we tried cheese curds and tator tots) was so so good. We stayed and explored for hours until almost needing to be kicked out at close! Super cute gift shop and amazing/friendly staff members. I will be coming back here on many more trips to come!

Rock City is my favorite place to visit in TN! Beautiful grounds, stunning views. Something for everyone to enjoy.

The view of the 7 states!

It is a beautiful breath taking view and seeing the info on each of the 7 states flag was really neat! The rock formations are cool! Really fairly easy to walk and do the hike!

I feel like Rock City is a southern American landmark at this point! It's worth the stop and really enjoyed the nice walk! My toddler is wild and hands on but I definitely felt safe taking him around even the craziest of obstacles! Can't wait to come back!

Ask the Community - Rock City

Do you HAVE TO have reservations?

Yes, they are still limiting ticket sells so tickets have to be bought online.

What is the length of time spent touring?

We spent 2.5 hours there but it was endlessly amazing. The ticket booth clerk told us people usually take 1.5-2 hours.

Would this place be good to visit in mid December? Or will there be too much snow/ice?

Its beautiful when there is snow or ice though snow is rare. The waterfalls are amazing when frozen. They keep the walkways salted so safety isn't usually an issue. However, being out on that bluff when its cold is very very cold. The Enchanted… Read more

Can we pay up front or do we have to print / but online?

We purchased at gate.. sure you could buy them online as well.. they also have packages for you can see 3 sights for a lower price.

Is the annual pass valid also for ruby falls and incline?

No, it's just for Rock City Gardens

One of the tell-tale signs of URBAN RENEWAL in the United States is the sudden explosion of Street…read moreArt emerging within the local architectural landscape. I have witnessed it in many cities, but I was not fully aware that Chattanooga, TN had joined the game until a recent (and way too brief) visit to the city. I LOVE ART, for so many reasons. I love the power of expression without the need for words. I love the multifaceted ability art has to speak one thing to one person, and something completely different to another and yet both are inspired in powerful ways. In terms of street art, I particularly like the flavor it adds to a community and how it can transform a dilapidated area into a culturally rich environment for growth, acceptance, diversity and revitalization. My love of art does not typically involve abstract art (such as Picasso), but Street Art gives such a high volume of emotion and personal statement that not only can it touch your soul in unexpected ways, but it also gives you a strong glimpse into the mind of the artist. Street Art can often times act as a bridge between opposing sides, many times showing the connective fibers we all share with one another. It is this reason that it disturbs me when I see it being disrespected by property owners that may not value it as much as they should. Take for example the building occupants at the northwest corner of Cowart St. & West Main St. A beautifully designed mural awaits visitors there, but is littered with crates and other rubbish, some blocking or covering the art. While I get that art doesn't move everyone, I still think that it should be respected. There are some property owners that disregard it while others decorate it with planters or add outdoor patios to highlight and proudly feature it! Art is probably one of the most sobering reflections of real life there is... from the subject matter itself to the way each individual responds to it. Some will marvel at its beauty, some are stopped in their tracks as if it audibly called to them, while others pass works of art as if there is nothing special or meaningful about them. However, I get a strong feeling the residents of Chattanooga will embrace art so deeply that eventually the entire city will, in itself, become a gallery. What a glorious gallery it will be in a city that already has so much natural beauty. TO LOCAL CHATTANOOGANS I only had a few hours to visit but created this page not only to celebrate the happenings in your city, but in hopes you will add more photos as you find these hidden gems around town. I would love to be able to revisit this page and see all the wonderful murals I missed on this visit, so please keep an eye out for the beauty of murals and sculptures that blanket your lovely city like wildflowers randomly popping up in a country field. I will look forward to all your photos with eager anticipation! TO CHATTANOOGA STREET ARTISTS I love what you do! Whether you practice only as a local artist or travel to different cities around the globe for your commissioned work, I admire your visionary skills to transform thought into stunning visual effect for all to see. In the military, there are some units designed to go in and prepare areas for the soldiers that will follow. Laying the groundwork and clearing the way for change and progress. YOU ARE THOSE SOLDIERS!!! If you are an artist with an upcoming street mural, please feel free to contact me via Yelp messages and invite me to see your work as you are in the process of transferring it from paper to reality. I WOULD LOVE to witness a street mural from the first paint stroke onto an exterior wall to the last brilliant final touch! It would be my honor to hold a ladder or make a coffee run or anything to be of voluntary use to your cause!!! I will drive 2 hours from my home in Georgia just to be a part of it if you ask! 2018/37
