I came for the rocks but stayed for the views. Rock City was one of my favorite stops in Chattanooga. Dogs are welcome throughout the attraction as long as they're on leash, which made it easy for me to explore with my humans. The trail is well-maintained and mostly paved, making it comfortable for little paws. There are lots of winding paths, rock formations, gardens, and scenic overlooks, with plenty of opportunities to stop for photos along the way. The route felt more like a leisurely walk than a strenuous hike. The views were incredible, and there were so many interesting sights that I barely had time for my usual nap schedule. If you're traveling with a dog and looking for an easy outdoor adventure near Chattanooga, this is definitely worth a visit. Rock City was the highlight of our trip. While admission is a bit pricey at around $42 per person, we felt it was well worth it. We spent about three hours exploring the grounds, which were much larger than they appeared at first glance. It was a hot day, but the experience was still enjoyable thanks to shaded paths, cool underground sections that offered a break from the heat, and a few misting stations--Steve even lifted Luna up so she could enjoy the mist too. We took plenty of breaks, stayed hydrated, and sought out shade whenever possible. Overall, it was a fantastic and memorable experience. We highly recommend bringing your pet-just be sure they're comfortable with the heat and that you take the proper precautions to keep them cool and safe on hot days. read more

This place was absolutely amazing! Visiting my mom from California and came to spend a couple days in Chattanooga. Based on the other reviews, we decided to give it a try. Soooo happy we did. We spent over 4 hours here! We took our time wandering through all the trails and caves. We did spend an hour or so taking a break from the rain and had lunch at Cafe 7. The Chili Bowl was delicious but lukewarm. I had the Mistletoe Mule and my mom had a Spiked Cider. Both were great. Buy tickets online and they're $20 per person cheaper! We absolutely adored our time here! Unfortunately the signs and map really aren't too clear, at least we didn't think so. We relied heavily on asking people who worked there because we didn't want to miss anything! Tons of super cool things to discover and a really fun scavenger hunt for the kids! Their gift shops are each well stocked with a variety of fun souvenirs and drinks. The fudge/candy shop was fun to go into. We could watch people making fudge to really work up the appetite to buy more than you need haha. Parking is ample and be warned this place gets busy quick so the earlier you can arrive the better! :) read more

I am in love with this place; I couldn't rave enough! Vibe: I arrived on a Wednesday after booking my tickets online a week prior. I got there at 10 a.m., right when it opened, and there were barely three other families with us. Since it was winter, the place was cold and windy because of the altitude. The Walk: The tour was self-guided, with arrows, signs, and several small trails leading to the lookout spot. The trail was uniquely interesting, taking us over rocks and past a 100-foot waterfall, through a section called Fat Man's Squeeze between large boulders, across the Swing-A-Long Bridge between trees; we had it all! During the holiday season, speakers along the trail played festive music in the background. The trails weren't very long (just under a mile), but the view and experience were so beautiful that we didn't want to rush and ended up spending about two hours there, taking numerous photos. Overall, the trail wasn't physically demanding, though there were stairs and narrow spots, and many toddlers were along for the walk. The View: Several highlights stood out, as there were multiple viewpoints. One was Lover's Leap, which was very peaceful, especially because hardly anyone was there. It offered a view of "seven states" on a clear day -Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Virginia. Binoculars were also available for rent to get a closer look. It was serene and picturesque. Another favorite was the viewpoint between two rocks, offering an incredible, surreal, and fascinating view. The Flow: Signs guided us throughout the tour, and maps were also available during the tour and at the entrance. While Lover's Leap is a popular spot, it is large enough that crowds tend to disperse quickly. Benches and restrooms were conveniently placed along the trail, ensuring a pleasant walking experience. Extra Sauce: The ticket price was absolutely worth the experience; it's one of those attractions where the value easily matches what you pay. A visit early in the morning is ideal to avoid the crowd. Rock City combines natural beauty with thoughtful human design. There is a romantic, poignant story behind Lover's Leap that adds to the experience. There are cafes and restaurants at the lookout point, along with a gift shop filled with beautiful items. The woman working there was bubbly and friendly, helping us find exactly what we wanted. The Christmas Experience! This is a must young and old. Mobility needs to be considered as lots of stairs. There are also tight spots to fit through, If you need to bring a stroller I recommend you wait on this attraction. The lights and ambiance amazing. We really enjoyed our visit. Our ticket time was for 10:45 am. We walked the whole thing and then did some other things around town. We returned at 7:00 to enjoy the lights. The weather was perfect. OMG!! This is one of my favorite places on earth!!! I'm originally from SW Florida and have only been out of the state a couple of times and when I came here the other day.. WOW, my mind was blown. We came around sunset and the weather was stunning. I had the most magical time walking around with my friends. The views were incredible and the food (we tried cheese curds and tator tots) was so so good. We stayed and explored for hours until almost needing to be kicked out at close! It was fun and having the ability to see all of nature and multiple states at one place and time. Rock City rocks!! Seriously, I was surprised that I would like the place. When I was researching what to see in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area, Rock City caught my attention. Although it is technically in the state of Georgia, it is only about 15 minutes away from downtown Chattanooga. I thought my wife would like the place because while I was browsing I read that Rock City had a botanical garden and she loves flowers and plants. We love nature and Rock City is a nature themed attraction. We arrived at Rock City later in the day (about 5pm) so we could see the sunset, and we left close to 9pm. Well worth the time and the price of admission. There were plenty of other visitors, but it did not feel crowded because this attraction is larger than it looks. Go at your own pace. We did, and we enjoyed every minute of it. It was a nice walk, and photo opps were available everywhere you look. The place I enjoyed the most was the Lover's Leap and Seven States areas. It was a hazy day so I could not see all seven states from that observation area. Would have been awesome if it had been a clear day so we could have seen all of those states. Oh well, it was still an awesome sight. Rock City sits on top of Lookout Mountain, and it is the perfect spot to view everything around. It truly was an Awesome 4 hours spent at Rock City! There is something for everyone and for all ages to enjoy. So glad we decided to check this place out, and I think you will be too. read more

It was worth the money- felt like a cute hike with some fun site of little treasures seeing all over.

Such a fun and beautiful spot! I thought the woods and water would mean tons of mosquitoes, but not a single bite--what a surprise. The suspension bridge was an absolute blast, super thrilling and exciting. The waterfall? Stunning. Honestly, everywhere you turn feels like the perfect photo spot. We also loved the Fairy Tale Garden--it feels like walking into a little cave where each scene from different fairy tales is recreated. Really fun and worth checking out! While visiting a friend in the area, they offered this as an outdoorsy area I might like to check out. Rock City is on a bluff near the state line, that offers some stunning panoramic views of 5+ states depending on where you're standing. The majority of the attraction is accessible to most people, I saw a couple folks in wheel chairs. But there are some places like the canopy bridge (NOT for those who are afraid of heights, the bridge does move!) and the very narrow crevices with names like "Needle's Eye" (I could barely shimmy through) that may not be for everyone. The highlights were the panoramic views of multiple states above ground, and below ground the Fairyland Cavern full of diorama remakes of classic fairytale scenes. There is a small eatery and gift shop with beautiful views on the property as well. This is a fun place to spend an hour or two, with something for all ages. read more

This was a nature themed attraction. It started out with the trail going through a wooded area between massively tall rock formations that had crevices and small canyons on either side. There were some areas that were very tight to get through. There were tunnels and cave walk-throughs that were filled with gnome structures and jeweled like artwork. The main attraction let you through an area where you could take either a Stonebridge or a swinging bridge over to Lover's Leap. At the top of this area, there was a food area, a gift shop, restrooms, and gem mining. The view was spectacular and that you could see seven states. Another great area was Fairytale Caverns which was a a walk through a dark underground tunnel which had cutouts on either side that displayed scenes from different fairytales. There was also a large room with a Mother Goose exhibit that displayed scenes from all of those nursery rhymes. There is another gift shop in Café near the entrance along with the Starbucks across the street. There was a lot to see and do, the place is incredibly beautiful and scenic and a good way to spend a few hours. read more

Rock City is a beautiful attraction on Lookout Mountain. As you walk the marked trail, you wind your way around giant rock formations that lead to Lover's Leap, a giant look out spot that claims it's possible to see seven states from a specific spot. I'm not sure if it is possible or not to see the seven states, but it is an absolutely stunning view for sure. As you walk the trails you can admire beautiful gardens and gnomes and other fairytale characters can be spotted throughout the attraction. We really enjoyed our walk and the beautiful scenery and highly recommend going during the week, as well as purchasing tickets ahead. read more

A very wonderful and PET FRIENDLY experience! Rock City Gardens is a popular outdoor attraction that consists of a 4,100 foot path located on the Georgia side of Lookout Mountain. It's a great place for people of all ages. You basically follow the walking trail through the rocks and take in the scenery. One could consider it to be touristy, but it's absolutely worth it to visit at least once, if not twice. Some highlights are Lover's Leap, seeing seven states at once, crossing over a 180 foot swing-a-long suspension bridge, weaving through Needle's Eye and Fat Man's Squeeze, and enjoying the figurines depicting fairytales and classic children's stories in the Fairyland Caverns and Mother Goose Village. We really love and appreciate how Rock City is proud to be a pet-friendly attraction. Any leashed pets are welcome to walk the Enchanted Trail or to dine in the pet section at Café 7 with you. Be sure to remember your poop bags and respectfully pick up after your pet. Plan accordingly since this is a mostly an outdoor attraction. Depending on the time of year you visit, it's either hot or chilly, so wear appropriate clothes for the weather, comfortable shoes, and bring some water and snacks.
