Folks in need of jump start from their crazy busy lives should make a trek to this wonderful paradise by the Philippine Sea. This eco resort aims to leave as little of a carbon footprint as humanly possible. In that regard, Michael and Joanna, co-owners have succeeded. They have provided a haven for the traveler in search of a destination of the beaten track from the same old resorts. Instead of copying the western standards of what purports to be the norm fo resorts, the owners have brought back a simple yet soul restoring sanctuary. They have built multiple bahay kubo homes perched on the ocean which will lull you to the deepest slumber you will ever experience. The sounds of waves and exotic birds will melt away any tension in your mind and body and will restore your equilibrium. Why would anyone ever yearn for an infinity pool when you can go wading into the warm waters of the sea and go for miles before you encounter the breakwaters. The sea grass carpeting the sea floor is teeming with starfish, giant clams, and school of fish jumping up from the waters and chasing each other endlessly. One of the numerous activities offered is to go out with one of the "kuyas" to go searching for your dinner of sea urchins. Joanna, the chef will then prepare it for you for an out of this world carpaccio. All the food served at the Blue Mikey, are organic and uses all the fruits grown in the resort or are locally sourced. As I write this review, I am taken back to my happy place. Thank you again Michael, Joanna and the wonderful staff for one of my most memorable vacations.

I also booked a service boat at check-in for the next day and they prepared lunch for our island hopping @ 9am. We spent the first day strolling on the boardwalk and souvenir shops - compare prices with all vendors for better deals. The next day, a hotel employee escorted me to the boating office to pay for our trip. The front desk packed our meals and assisted us onto the boat - I think the hotel owned it since the hotel name was scribed on the bow of the boat. We had an amazing time island hopping and the boating staff patiently waited for us. Some of the drawbacks were the paper thin blankets and duvet, no partition between toilet and shower area so the toilet area floods when showering, breakfast was great the first day but ran out of choices the second day; plus food was served cold. Despite some of the drawbacks I still highly recommend Island Tropic to all yelpers and visitors. Oh yeah, the new swimming pool was delightful and kept clean.

There are several hotels in Alamitos City to choose from, but I chose Island Tropic Hotel & Restaurant since it's right across from the city's port where you can catch a boat to bring you to the islands! The hotel itself is pretty basic but clean and the staff are so friendly & helpful! They also helped us book our boatman to tour us to the islands. Our overnight stay was worth it here. Since we did our tour the next day and had to check out before, they also offered a room for us to use after our tour to shower/clean up free of charge! Now the restaurant review.... It's located on the second floor and we dined here for dinner. WE ORDERED: - Chop suey - Pancit - Grilled Liempo - Steamed Fish I highly recommend their pancit (their specialty). The chop suey was also delicious and the fish was fresh! Island Tropic is the place to stay when you find yourself in Pangasinan region!

I was in the navy for 14 years, I'm very well traveled, and stayed at countless hotels all over the world. For an equivalent of $100 a night, our room looked like it hasn't touch for a long time....I'm talking about years of neglect. Black mold on the walls and in the bathroom. The a/c didn't work. The window in the bathroom was broke . Bugs in our room. The outdoor patio area was filthy from bird droppings. No lights in the hallways at night. The food was prepared with NO love whatsoever. Speaking on the food...I'm Filipino so dining in the Philippines you would expect nothing less than greatness but the food was very bland. The pool was dirty. To make matters worst, it seemed like ALL the hotel employees were just hanging out in the front entrance! You would think that with all the work this place needs, everyone would be busy as hell getting this place up to standard. DO NOT GO HERE! YOU WILL BE EXTREMELY UPSET. This place makes you not even want to visit the Philippines ever!

The rooms were okay but smelled musty. There was a television but no remote. The swimming pool area wasn't very clean. The food wasn't that great and took forever even if we ordered our dinner early and breakfast the night before. Customer service in the kitchen was poor but all the staff were extremely nice and responsive - the ones handling the front desk, restaurant and the rooms. My mum asked if they had Mang Tomas. They didn't have it but the waiter ran to the store to buy one. Jomar, the hotels concierge/all around guy was really helpful, knowledgeable and nice. He got us a boat tour without the hassle of lining up under the hot summer sun at the Hundred Islands Wharf. We had a less than satisfactory stay at the hotel and for 4,000 pesos overnight, we didn't think it was worth it. We, however, are really appreciative of the welcoming and friendly attendants. They were a great consolation.
