Finally went back to my nail guy today. It was nice to see all the safety measures they put into place. Every operator station is equipped with a sneeze guard as is the front desk. Everybody wears a mask and you cannot enter without one on your face. There is hand sanitizer at every station and the front desk. I felt safe!!! read more

I think for now I will rate Rock Star with 3 stars because of my past 3 experiences. I've done Dip manicures in all the visits. Visit #1 The first time actually wasn't bad. I just had a hard time with my tech because she wasn't too familiar with an "almond" shape nail. I did show her pictures and she did do a good job with it. I forgot what the other issue was but I came back to the shop and David fixed it up. No biggie. Visit #2 The second tech I had was Joe. He's very gentle and respected my decision not wanting to use the drill so much. But the only cons were that I got charged extra for a nail shaping and I didnt think it resembled the shape I wanted. Again, almond shape was not something he was used to. Also, the nail surfaces were uneven and cuticles were not cleanly done. But maybe that was because I requested hand filing. Visit #3 Lastly, my visit yesterday left me feeling 50/50 about this place. I loved the tech who did my pedicure. She's very considerate and pays a great deal to details. I loved how she wanted to make sure I wasn't hurting anywhere. Her massages were also so relaxing. Almost put me to sleep! Ask for Katelyn, seriously I will be requesting her all the time. My dip manicure was done by Ny. She's friendly and good at what she does. I love my nail shape and color. But, she's too rough with the drill. This is the first time EVER that I walked away with 5 cuts in my cuticles that were also bleeding. These cuts may not seem like a big deal to others but think about having paper cuts in your cuticles! Just water touching my nails stings so bad. If it's one cut I can understand. But 5??! I asked her to be more gentle next time and she responded that these things happen. Maybe one cut I'll understand but not both my hands feeling cut up. I think I might try her out one more time but until then, I just feel like it's 3 stars for me. I love Dip manicures but having trouble finding a tech that can leave me satisfied with the nail shape and clean cuticles without cuts. Trust the reviews. There is no need to waste your time or money here. The salon's location in holy suburbia, its extravagant decor, and huge staff are just smoke and mirrors. Despite the negative reviews, my mother and I got our no-chip done here. Mom's nails bubbled twice..they refused to acknowledge the flaws at first but realized I wasn't going to let my mama walk out with over-priced and ugly nails. While my tech was kind, she was not as meticulous as I would expect from a tech. I would have to ask her to clean the sides or even out the nails...etc. I realized most of their customers could be teens who may be easier to please...because the techs and managers seemed to just bullshit their way around business. Today was my first time in this salon. I decided that my nails need to be cut down and filled as it has been a month. I stated I had gel nails, and was advised to pick out a color. I picked out a color and from my understanding the gel color was not an additional charge. I did notice the mood changing nail polish was $5 extra. My 8 year old wanted to get her nails painted as well. I made her pick out the color she wanted and we were both seated. I had a gentleman named Andrew and my daughter had a lady named Kim. I advised Andrew that I wanted my nails cut down as they were too long. He mentioned that I should try the dip polish. I stated I just wanted my gel nail polish. He did what I asked for. While he was using the drill on my nails, I felt a burning/painful issue on my finger. I let it go as I have had issue with being cut/burn in other salons as well. My daughter had her manicure finished and mentioned something about a design on her nail. Which in every other salon she has received if requested. She stated to me that Andrew said it wasn't on the paper so she was unable to have it. She did hit her two thumbs and messed them up twice while we were there. They did fix them without a problem. I went up to the counter to pay for my nails and the fee was $48. I am still in shock over this as I wanted a gel fill, and a manicure for my daughter. When you say you want a gel fill, I am under the assumption gel fill with gel polish not another $10 fee. I am assuming the owner checked us out as he stated I waived $5 off your bill due to the flare. I didn't know there was an additional charge for a certain color polish or I would not have picked it. I was advised to pick a color from the left side of the cash register. There wasn't a sign that stated this is going to cost you more money if you picked it. I ended up paying $63 for our nails which included a $15 tip. As of this moment, I am unsure I will be returning as my nails do not look like I just had them professionally done and surely are not worth $38. Numerous nails have bubbles in the paint, no paint next the cuticle bed and, you are able to see the brush stroke on each finger. My daughters nails are not worth $10 either I could have done a better job at home! They did not even fill paint her entire nail either. I was really hoping I would enjoy this place especially with all of the positive reviews. read more

Pros outweigh cons, because I really have only a couple complaints. I did not want to say anything because the rest of my services went so well! One star for customer service. I was a new client - never been, and was amazed by the options at this place. I was not greeted right away, but instead, introduced myself as having an appointment. The guy presented me with a menu after he located me in the large book. I've never seen a menu for you to check off at a nail salon before - but how cool! I was able to check off the services I wanted, and any complimentary beverage I fancied. Coffee. I then picked out my colors (Almost too many to choose - know what color you're going for) and he put the color codes on my menu. I wish I knew his name - Not David, the owner, but the other man walking around making sure everything and everyone is okay. One star for Kaitlyn. My pedicure - Milk and Honey scent - was longer than expected, but wow, Kaitlyn (I think her name was) was fantastic! I loved her, and hope to receive service from her again! She cares about you and the work she does. I WILL NOT be paying for the most expensive pedicure next time ($55) - but boy, it was pampering. I was then brought over to the manicure station (you are told to sit wherever you want) and K brought over my menu and gave it to Hannah. Well, then everything went weird. Hannah seemed really confused - kept talking in her language (rude-cause you know they're talking about you) and K hadn't done that around me until that point. Like, there was a power struggle. Hannah didn't want to take me for my SNS DIP. And could NOT be bothered. She used the drill on my nails over and over - I DON'T HAVE ACRYLICS OR GLUE ON MY NAILS. Then, when I proceeded to tell her she missed sanding one - she laughed and mocked me. She neglected and completely SKIPPED OVER doing my cuticles. Never soaked my hands. She was tired, unprofessional, and lazy. ($39 - I expect better) One star for Tina, who I ended my two hour night with. Luckily, she did a fabulous job on my eyebrows. She was warm and friendly, and took her work seriously. ($17) Will I be back? (Grand total of $111 without tip? $133 with. Average for what I experienced) Get rid of Hannah. PHOTOS TAKEN RIGHT AFTER NAILS WERE DONE!!! (PLS LOOK AT PHOTOS) All i asked for was a simple french manicure. There was multiple red flags that I should have noticed but as I am like any other passive young adult, i allowed them to go on unspoken. The first flag was when i was told that the wait would be 15 minutes & it ended up being 55 minutes, then the tech forgot to do the massage during the manicure, & when I asked the tech to keep my nails long and almond shaped, all he did was cut the tip and not even try to shape it until i had to ask him 2x to fix it. Another red flag was when my tech kept looking to the other tech for help and it was clear that he did not know what he was doing. My newly done manicure had gaping holes, looked very gooey-like & a thick consistency of disgust all over it when it was finished. Although I should have told the employee to redo it, there was already so many mistakes done despite me telling him otherwise & it would be redundant to have him redo his mistake with another failed attempt. After I still paid them for their poor services, I showed the employee at the cash register & i could see her embarrassment of my ratchet nails. I thought the employee gave me a proper discount(was only $7 off) & told me to come back another time for a free manicure. When i came back later, that same employee told me that all she was going to do was give me a different tech while still paying full price. Although the nail tech did not provide the service that i paid for, i am more upset with the actual nail salon and the employee at the register for not properly reimbursing me or providing me with a new manicure for another time. Although I once used to recommend the salon to all my coworkers, friends, & family members, this salon has now lost ALL of those potential customers and more merely because they could not do a simply french manicure nor properly own up to their mistakes. read more

This WAS my go to nail salon every month since they've Been opened I would go get my nails done last week I was there a Asian Man with glasses did my nails for the first time.. my nails and skin were on FIRE burning and little tiny paper cuts on each fingers! I was treated in a dismissive manner, told I would get a complimentary bottle of water, and someone would take payment prior to manicure. Nail color/ombré looks great but I took this picture the day after getting my full set and it looks like I already need a fill.. not sure why they don't do the whole nail, it was for a wedding and $70+ tip.. my nails only just days later needed to be redone/filled at a different salon. Came back to Rock Star because they offer the dip manicure and I wanted to try it. My experience this time was exquisite! I started with a tropical paradise pedicure which included my choice of either paraffin wax treatment or hot stone massage. I chose the hot stone because the technician said the bottoms of my feet weren't too bad, and I agreed. Had my feet been super dry, she would've suggested the paraffin. The pedicure included a lot of attention to details. The exfoliating leg and foot scrub felt amazing, as did the hot stone massage and green tea/citrus lotion. The tech took her time on my cuticles, as well as with filing and painting my toenails. A+. The dip manicure is a thing of beauty! I am officially a convert, after just one time. I opted for a french dip (insert food joke here) because I was attending a wedding over the weekend. The process for a dip is fast, but is also done with precision and care. There is no damage done to the nail beds like acrylics, and my own nail length was used (they can do tips, but I did not need them.) My nails feel strong like I have acrylics on them and look clean. I was also told that the white dip powder will not yellow like a regular manicure or no-chip will. After a week my manicure is still strong and clean looking. Both the tech and receptionist asked me before I had the manicure if I was rough with my hands. I told them I type all day, but that's about it. They both mentioned more than once that I was going to love the dip manicure, as long as I didn't bang my hands into anything, as the dip cures very hard, it is not pliable like a no-chip and will crack like acrylic would. Service continues to be A+ with complimentary snacks and beverages. I'm a convert, and I'll be back! read more

Had a negative experience at Rock Star nails today. Went in for a classic manicure. The salonist, Kimmy, scraped my cuticle skin back until the nailbed bled on two nails. The bleeding would not stop on one but she continued to paint the nail and, as you might imagine, it did not end up well. In addition, the paint job on all nails was messy and there was extra paint on almost every cuticle spilling over the nail. Probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a nail salon. I booked an appointment on 6/12 to get a gel tip man a cure and a regular polish pedicure. They first sent me to get my toes done and the guy that did them was wonderful. He did my nails great and finished them with no problems. The gel tips were where I had the problem. I was with about four of my friends and half of us got our toes done first and half of us got our nails done first. The two girls who got their toes done with me got to get their nails started right away, but not me. I had to wait 15 minutes to get the service I asked for (gel with tips). While my friends had already had all of their nails shaped. After I waited 15 minutes I got put with a woman (not sure of her name). She started putting o my tips and shaping them. I wanted the nails to be short because I play many sports and I don't want to nails to interfere with the activities. She finished the shape and I asked her if I could have them shorter she then rolled her eyes and started cutting them down like crazy. They were way too short at the time but I didn't want to cause a fuss. I made sure that the two nails were even on each finger, but none of them were symmetrical. Some of them even had slants and weren't even remotely the same length. I politely asked the woman if she could make them more symmetrical on my thumb and index finger. She didn't say anything and told me to go with a different woman. She brought me to a woman who I think was the head of Rockstar Nails. She had blonde hair and was wearing a pink flower shirt. She sat me down and started to dramatically clip my nails and she stabbed her nail clipped into my finger. I said "Oww" and she just ignored me. She told me to go to another salon because I am too picky and they can't meet my expectations, but when in reality I just wanted to get a good manicure for the price I was paying. I then was trying to be the bigger person and said " I am so sorry for being too picked but is there any way you could do my nails for me" She then ignored me again after another woman tried to grab her attention for me. I was sitting directly next to a girl who was a senior in college and was super kind to me. She told me that the nail tech named Tony would do my nails after her because he is a very good nail tech and has always done her nails. I was so thankful that Tony was willing to do my nails because I lost so much hope. I waited until the girl a nails were done and Tony started doing my nails. He did them super well and I would recommend him or Alex to anybody who wants to get their nails done here. read more

Just went to get a no chip mani pedi today and had the nicest nail tech I believe her name was Lani. She did a great job and I felt super pampered. The only thing was it's pretty expensive but it's a really nice place. I was slightly disappointed that they offer on the form a complimentary drink and I chose lemonade slushy which they never gave me they did give me a water bottle though which was much appreciated because it was very hot out today. I have a love-hate relationship with this place. Let me explain. I have come here a number of times and there are few things that stay consistent but one major thing is that checking-in and out is the worst part of the experience. The reception desk is WAY TOO SMALL. The place is HUGE, they really should have invested in a better reception area. When you walk in, you'll see that reception area, right away. Whether or not you had an appointment, you will fill out a sheet of paper with what services you would like. The sheets of paper are confusing at first but you get used to them after the 2nd time, I'd say. If you ask them to explain it, they don't do a good job so, good luck. The vibe of the place is pretty nice, it is a little too "busy" looking but I'd say it's a few step up from your standard nail salon. The reason why I think this place is pretty great is their drink and snack station, they even have alcohol! What I wish they would do is ask us if we'd like a snack, because I have never been offered one and I do indeed want one. The customer service really ranges...sometimes they do a great job and sometimes you want to just leave in the middle of the service. No one is particularly nice, except Kimmy, oh gosh, she is just the sweetest little things. My issues are when I pay for a service and I'm not provided with my entire service. Like if I don't get the foot massage, it may not be a big deal to some, but if I pay for it, I want it. I really recommend the deluxe service for everything. It's fantastic! Just make sure they do a good job because sometimes they half-a** the hot stone massage. Their waxing is subpar, so I recommend going somewhere else for that (try Lena's Skin Care). Actually, it's even below subpar, because they didn't complete the job. Like not even half. Overall, they need to work on consistency and having a larger reception area but I do see myself coming here more and bringing friends and family. read more

Would definitely come again! A lot of my friends recommended this place and the salon did not disappoint. I did a walk-in and the receptionist was super kind and helpful! I was told that the wait time was 20 minutes, but it ended up being only a 10 minutes wait. When walking in, the place looked absolutely beautiful. It gave off a very high class feeling and the overall atmosphere was very relaxing. As for the services, I had multiple things done since I was leaving on vacation. Manicure~ My nails were done by Ben. I had three broken ones so tips were put in and I had a very light pink dip powder on top. It wasn't thick like other places that I've been to. I loved the way it came out! It was beautifully done! Pedicure~ I had the classic pedicure and it was a very pleasant experience. They had plastic liners in the tub and everything was very clean. The best part of the pedicure was the hot stones! The technician that did my pedicure was Billy and he did a great job as well. Waxing~ I had my lip and eyebrows waxed and it turned out nicely. They listened to me and made sure that I was satisfied with the shape of the eyebrows. Usually, my eyebrows and lips would stay irritated after waxing at other nail salons, but here they prepped the areas where the waxing would occur with this liquid, which kept my skin from reacting badly to the waxing. I'm writing a review based on repeated patronage at this nail salon for the past two years. Rock Star Nails Salon is mediocre, at best. The frills that might entice you to go here are just that-frills. Having access to a soda pop machine and some water does not make the work that they do any better. The customer service is horrible. If you are unhappy with something, they will gang up on you and the manager will do it with them. They make you feel like you are to blame for bubbles in the polish or whatever you do not like. It's horrific. I don't understand why they would not want their customers to be happy. They try to up sell you and try to get you to spend more than you need to. It's too bad, I tried to forgive and give multiple nail techs a chance but it's all the same. I would not recommend this salon to anyone! And I am never going back. read more

I have been going there regularly for about 2 years. I always go to the same 2 ladies. They overcharged me for a mani/pedi and when I realized the next day I called and spoke to the owner Bobby. He was very nice to me on the phone and said he knows me and would look into it and get back to me. He never did. I tried to stop by the shop and he said he didn't have an answer yet. Then I tried to call again and he was rude. I always leave large tips and have been a good customer even when their work has been subpar at times. Needless to say I will not be returning.
