The view of downtown Minneapolis from the Great Clips stage was pretty. Portapotties galore. The con's: The event was only from 5-10:30p yet tickets were $70+ticketing fees-expensive! Food & drinks were pricey too, as they tend to be at festival events. The crowd vibe just wasn't there for what you would expect from a music festival. Most folks seemed interested in roaming about and conversating vs jamming out to the music. A free bus pass was offered for everyone attending the event, but I didn't see a single bus on my 15 min walk back to my hotel. That's not necessarily BBP's fault but you'd think there'd be better coordination of public transportation between event planners and the city. Overall, if you go, you'll probably have some high-priced fun on a beautiful summer day in downtown Minneapolis.

Even when I lived around there, and was a member of the church, I avoided the area during the Block Party because of how crazy it got. Parking was crazy, the first night I had a friend drop me off and pick me up, because I didn't want to deal with all of the extra cars on top of the construction that was happening on Hennepin Ave. The second night because of other events that I was attending over the weekend, I parked in the Target Center Ramp Parking. Since no other events were happening, it was only $5 for parking on the weekend, and it was far enough away from all of the busy part of downtown that it made the exit super easy. I volunteered at the Coke Tent 1, which was by the Main Stage. It was so much fun! I could hear the music well and see the acts, along with working. It was 4 tickets for a beverage. At our tent we had Sodas, Lemonades, and Water. People loved the water, they did get a little fussy when they realized we couldn't give them the caps, but most got over it quickly. One gentleman who was there the first night, and came back the second night actually brought a cap with him the next evening. It was kind of funny, but very smart and resourceful on his part. The other volunteers were nice and friendly, and even the main staff that instructed the volunteers what the different tasks were. After this experience, I couldn't believe I waited this long to participate in this event. We got free T-shirts, and the colors were a pretty Teal. I believe they change each year, and I can't wait to see what the color is next year.

It has soooo much potential since it's not as enormous as the other summer block parties, but this year was more of a three-star experience. I hope they learn some things this year and really knock it out of the park next year. I don't clearly remember the first year of the Lyn Lake Fest, but last year, it was packed, it was easy-ish to get a beer, Har Mar Superstar killed it. This year (year three), it felt kind of empty and nothing grabbed my attention enough to stick around for very long. The beer "garden"/parking lot was full, but not the street, at least not when I was there around 4-5 p.m. Plenty of cute dogs though. The local lineup on the mainstage was awesome this year (Koo Koo Kangaroo, Black Blondie, Peter Wolf Crier, Haley Bonar, Heiruspecs headlining), but I think they could have done without the second stage. One band was playing on that northernmost stage with almost no people paying attention. I felt bad for them. The food options were improved this year, with the Chef Shack and Magic Bus Cafe on-site with the Lyn-Lake restaurants. Heidi's also had some burger specials specifically for the event. Summit had their beer truck out and I also saw someone with a to-go Bloody Mary. I never figured out where it came from though. Damn. Lots of other Lyn-Lake and local businesses had booths, like Nice Ride, Hair Police, The Loft Salon, some crafters selling cute jewelry and other odds and ends. Both salons were doing feather extensions. Maybe that should have been discussed among the salons before go-time, because they were just a couple of tents away from each other. And what was up with the poodles (with NEON-dyed fur, the poor things) being groomed right there in the middle of it all? There were little balls of pink dog fur blowing in the wind blocks away. Gross. Absurdly gross.

It's also by lake of the Isles / up town area, which one can argue is the nicest part of town. Modern art is often a minimalist canvas that I'm supposed to draw meaning- 99% of the time, I don't get it. The Art here is easier to consume. Nothing to interpret for the most part. I went on the first day (Friday) and there was a lot of empty space on Hennepin. The fair did extend down a street going closer down to the lake. Friday was gloomy & had rain in the forecast, might be the reason people didn't come out. Back to the art. Seen a lot of dope pieces by a lot of dope artist from all over the US. It was amazing to see the things people come up with. Hopefully someday I'll be able to afford a nice 2k-3k piece. This year they had a really cool vendor, Studio Ink (Hallmark) where you could pick out greeting cards, fill them out, address them & they send them out! I love writing to people. Not as popular these days. Glad they are attempting to make a comeback. Indeed brewery was the drink vendor for this years event. They had 3 or 4 options to offer. I'm not wild about wheat juice (beer) but it's uptown, bars & restaurants everywhere which is nice. They also had a few familiar food trucks like Fro Yo Soul- Yum.

I loved the array of food, clothes, music, people. and whatever else would be available at these fairs because I always have fond memories of walking for blocks and blocks of city streets just taking it all in. As I got older I began to seek them out on my own. The NYC Bastille Fair was one of my favorites. Now that I am in Minnesota, I checked out the Bastille Day Block Party and although the size was limited they sure packed a lot into this block! Live performances, fries, ice cream, beer galore, food trucks, wine tasting vendors and more. I came curious and left happier and full. It is definitely a nice summer event to check out if you have the time! -After all, it's only once a year.

The bands were incredible. There were a variety of different art activities that you could participate in both inside and out. I liked that several of them related to the Main exhibit that is taking place there right now. They worked with Du Nord spirits to come up with four signature cocktails. We tried two of the four they were both excellent and the rest looked fantastic. They also had four signature mock tails. The food curated for the event also looked great but we made the mistake of eating before we went. The mood was festive and there were people of all ages from 21 on up there. I went with just one friend. I think it could've been even more fun if we brought a crew but either way I think it is an extraordinary sFriday night out with just a special someone or friends. As this was the first for the tomato fest, I'm sure organizers didn't quite know what to expect, but I still think they could have had more entertainment. There was really nothing to do at the tomato fest when you weren't busy flinging tomatoes. There were concession stands, live music, and ONE beer tent (the line got pretty long). They also said they would have stations to rinse off at, but 2 hoses spraying in front of fans was not enough for over 2,000 tomato covered people. Also, a warning that parking was $5 would have been nice, I almost didn't bring any cash. The tomato fight itself was AMAZING! It was so much more fun and juicy than I had ever expected. Be prepared to get DRENCHED in tomato seed, tomato juice, and tomato pulp, so wear old clothes and organizers recommend that you wear white, or be creative and make costumes with some friends. Also, bring goggles! They will save your eyes. I am sure after this first fest, the tomato fest planners will have much more to offer next year, and more entertainment. I hope they read this and 'ketchup' with what they can improve on for next year.

The pros - huge area: they did a great job with the locatation. There was lots of room so even though there were a lot of people it didn't feel too congested. The beer tents were spread out nicely helping to keep the lines down. - quick entry lines - divided up international regions - Large beer selection from MN brewers, micro, domestic, and foreign. Similar to the dabblers, but a little more selection. Although I am not a big Sam's guy, kudos to them for bringing a new beer not available locally to the beerfests. In this case it was the Hallerteu IPA. - Good live music throughout. - Lots of parking options in the area Cons - What you think you need for bathrooms double it and add 50% more!!!!! It was terrible. The wait was easily 15 minutes plus. Our group left at 8:15 because we didn't want to have to wait in line again, even though we all would have like to stay for a bit longer. Hopefully they learn from this blunder like the dabbler did after the winter fest. - More food carts. For the number of people there was too few food selections. The Chef Shack is great (love the pork tacos and bacon brats) but the line was constantly long. Same with Buffalo Wild Wings. - I think it is absurd DD's have to pay, but at least you should have some beverage options for them. I felt so bad for our DD. No free pop options we were able to find, only saw 1 non alcoholic beer (may have been more). Respect the DD's a bit more. Overall it was a fun time on a nice fall night. Hopefully they have it again next year and make a few improvements.

The Minneapolis Beer Fest is a bit different than a few of the other beer festivals in the Cities,…read morewhich is pretty noticeable when you look at the list of participating breweries (i.e., many macros, a few regionals and the occasional local brewery). In other words, it's not a place that you're likely to find many diamonds in the rough, but it's still enjoyable when appreciated for what it is. For the event's first year they were actually pretty well organized, with the one exception being the long lines for restrooms (which is a common ailment at such events). The presence of a number of food trucks was a great idea; any time I can get a lobster roll from Smack Shack will always make for a good evening. They also had live music throughout the duration of the event with solid local bands. All-in-all a good event for the non-die hard beer drinker and those looking for a fun night out during the fleeting days of fall in the Twin Cities (though Four Loko should never be present during a beer tasting).

Will come over the summer to get raspberries, but we always make it a point to come in the fall for apple picking. Apple picking is one of my ultimate favorite fall activities, we went this past weekend hoping for some Honeycrisp apples, but they weren't quite ready yet which ended up being a blessing in disguise because we picked a bag full of sweet tango instead. Honeycrisp has always been my go to, but I think my new favorite is sweet tango because I love their little size. Usually, I can't finish a whole Honeycrisp on my own, but I'll find myself eating two or three sweet tangos in a day! My husband and I are obsessed, and we may be coming back at least once if not twice before the season ends.

The primary one, that I'll write about here, was very poor line management and a huge lack of clarity. They have "Tickets" and "Wristbands" buying a "ticket" makes you eligible for a "wristband, but they are not the same thing. They had a terrible solution. Where you wait in an insanely long line (literally an hour long) to get a "ticket" then you have to go all the way back to another insanely long line to get a "wristband" in order to get in the hayride that takes you to the flowers (they would not allow people to walk). There was not clear signage which lead to a lot of confusion that really slowed things down. What made things worse is that we were there right at opening time, so we completed the idiotic process properly. But about an hour in the staff realized how bad their idea was, and tried to combine the lines which led to a ton of people being able to budge us, which was really unfortunate and frustrating. I certainly would never visit this place again on a weekend. It was such a poor experience. Maybe going during the week when visitation is not at peak could be feasible.

Parking was free and easy. Once you get to the entrance gate, you'll be greeted by staff to show your admission ticket or buy tickets. It's reasonable priced. I purchased the admission with ride and getting a sunflower option. Service was fast and friendly. There's a station near the front to line up for the hay ride which approximately runs every 15-20 minutes. But my friends and I decided to explore other stations before doing the hay ride. There were mini houses and mini log cabin displays to check out. There was a mini kart race track that adults and kids can actually grab a kart and peddle around the track. That was a fun experience! There's also a okay ground that both kids and adults can play Through the courses.. Once we got through the stations, we headed back to the entrance to wait for the hayride. The hayride would bring us way back into the fields where you can see them growing peppers, sunflowers and pumpkins. We were dropped off into the sunflower fields to browse, take pics and then eventually able to pick a sunflower or flowers form the fields at the end per the packages we laid for. I had to leave early so I was t able to cut one for myself. But would love to come back another time to experience it again haha.

I bought some passes on Crowd Cut for myself and a buddy of mine and had spread the word to some other friends to get passes and join us as well. It was a hot and humid day, but that sure didn't detract anyone from showing up as the line of people nearly seemed endless at times. This could have been due to my salivating eagerness to get at that beer or the one over there, or the one over there, etc. I lost count of all the beers I sampled, but fortunately I texted myself on which ones I really liked. What a great marketing idea as well! Have people pay to get in to a place to try a two ounce sample of multiple brands and styles of beer knowing that it will pay off at the liquor stores and bars in the future, now that's thinking. The choice in Food Truck representation was very good, however there should have been at least one more option. I don't think I would have paid full price to attend this, but a Crowd Cut deal made it affordable. Next year, if they have it again, I'll probably do the VIP option. Also, thanks YELP! I treasure the bottle opener you guys were giving away.

Today was a bit chilly and I don't necessarily remember all of the beers I tried but I will say that I had a lot of fun with my friends and 10/10 recommend the ABR if you're a beer lover!

It's in a small tight area with a ton of people. It's crowded and really not much going on. The huge ice castle this year was neat to see, other than that there were a few food stands with crazy long lines, low key live music, and a parade that consists mostly of people riding in the back of their trucks waving at on lookers, pretty boring. I think many people enjoy this 'carnival' as more of a nostalgic avenue. The people you go with is what will make or break your time here. If you can all have a good time together it will be a day well spent, otherwise you're kind of freezing yourself outside just to say you attended. However, the highlight of going would definitely be when the St Paul hotel sells their famous hot chocolate on certain days, and that was delicious - not super sweet, but smooth, creamy and chocolatey. ;)

We made my childhood dream a reality this past winter and visited Rice Park on the night of the parade. Getting to the park from Minneapolis was easy - we hopped a free light rail ride and then walked the short distance from the station to the park. The streets and park were packed - we ended up walking along the parade to get to the park and tried to snag a spot to see the storming of the castle or whatever the legend is. Sound was echoy and it was hard to follow but there's a lot of fire blowing and everything ended with fireworks. It turns out our spot along the square was the perfect vantage point for the fireworks; they were directly overhead. The lighted "ice palaces" and sculptures were probably the highlight, and we discovered after the fireworks that a seemingly endless line to nowhere was actually the line to sit on an ice throne and have your picture taken. The line was halted during the skit, presumably because the fireworks launch from behind the throne. The night we went there was a Prince cover band; they pulled a good crowd and you could still feel how much it united the community being so soon after the Purple One's passing. Refreshments-wise there wasn't a whole lot going on, though most people seemed to have a beer in hand. Lines were long and prices were high for any booth we passed. There's not a lot of information or signage so it was a little unclear if there were any activities to participate in or if there were costs involved. I think a lot of people grow up coming to this festival and it's mostly locals; you know what to do because you've been doing it your whole life. While we had a good night, it's probably something I don't need to do again now that I've crossed it off my list, but I'm glad it's such a hallmark for residents of the Cities.

We like to bring our own beer stein (as we have purchased so many over the years and have a collection). If you don't have one, they are only the price of one token. Tokens = $6 this year and you can use them from year to year. Rumor has it, that you can use for a drink at the downstairs bar year round (if you don't use them all at the tent). Not sure. They have a wide variety of Oktoberfest style beers, local brews, a cider, cocktails and even hard sparkling water. If you get munchie... there is always food for purchase with tokens. Sadly, this year... their was only one large tent vs two. Plus they squished the outdoor area down so they could valet more cars. This made it a tight cluster of people. Can be a good thing and a bad thing. Smoking is allowed outside the tent. By 8:45pm, there was no room to stand inside or out of the tent. Get there early and attempt to find a bench in the tent... good luck this year with half the space and seating. Positive side, it's free to enter and play hammerslaggan (some game with a hammer and nails into wood... perfect for intoxicated people). Haha.

Almost everything here is recycled, up-cycled, earth-friendly and unique. I also enjoy meeting the artists, as they are often on site making things at their booths. It was nice to see some new artists here this year. Don't forget to bid on items sold today in the silent auction. I have won bids before for cheap and it always feels good to support local art! There is a spot to create a bottle of all purpose cleaner to take home, which is not full of harm chemicals. Keep this fair in mind each year to purchase loved ones unique and environmentally friendly, homemade gifts. Since its in the Midtown Global Market, make your way to an ethinc restaurant for a tasty lunch.

While I have so many old pictures from 2011-2016, I will refrain from going back into the archives. Rather, I will speak towards my most recent 2025 visit as it's been a blast seeing the transformation. Pros: free easy parking, tickets can be purchased online with options for fast passes (a touch more expensive) which skip the line. Very well oiled staff who understand the importance of parking assistance, ticket services, line movement, hayride safety rules, concession stands, etc. Fun ambiance - giant chair to take photos in, gift shop, spooky fun music, concessions, and weekend beer garden. Variety - main process is to attend both a haunted house and hayride. You do have the option to do less or skip one (some people are fearful of 1 vs. the other) My biggest giggle is now that I'm older, I'm not as afraid. When I was younger, I used to think the Hayride was so scary but as time has passed, it was more laughable this year. I appreciate the efforts but everything was so predictable and the chainsaw skit hasn't changed (I don't want it to either - just repeated acting). Thank you to the staff, actors, actresses, etc. who keeps this running year over year! It's truly historic and nostalgic for me. I look forward to next year in 2026. Happy spooky season!

A girl in front of us was too scared and they let her out a side door so there is a way out if you don't like it! I gave it a 9 because the hayride wasn't as scary. Loved the set ups but they could have used more actors. There are different ticket options- 1. general admission (GA) haunted house and hayride 2. Fast lane- both with faster lines 3. VIP- Haunted house, hayride and Massacre (where they can touch you and it's in a corn field) plus shorter lines! We did GA and didn't wait too long. I thought the price was reasonable! It's also cheaper to buy online. We got there at 6:30pm so the lines weren't long and didn't have to wait. Highly recommend! It got really busy around 8pm. They have concessions, food trucks and everything is affordable. I attached pics of food options and pricing. **They only serve alcohol on Fridays and Saturdays** Plenty of porta potties and parking - parking is free! There were the cutest goats you can pet, pumpkins, mums and a cute store you can find decor, jams, etc. There was a psychic reader booth but they weren't there when we were there. $20 for a reading We talked to one of the owners. He was very nice and you could tell he enjoyed his job! All of the staff were nice! Next year is their 40th year so he said they are going to make it extra special! Definitely plan on going back next year!
