We had a nice lunch here. They have a few lunch specials -- some bowls and a few others. You have look closely at the small box on the lower left corner for the sub and pizza lunch ones, though. We each decided to choose an 8" sub and soda lunch special. The sodas are one of their canned varieties. There are several subs from which to choose that are included. I had their chicken parm sub. It had a lot of tomato sauce on the breaded chicken patty. I liked that the hoagie roll was toasted but it got a tad soggy from the sauce. My husband's sub was the better of the two -- he had their Italian sub with lettuce, tomato, and onion. There were a couple meats and a cheese. Some Italian dressing was served on the side to be added as desired. His hoagie roll was also toasted. We got to chat with the woman owner -- who was a one person band. She waited on us and prepared our food. She was quite friendly and personable. Her other half was doing a pizza delivery. They have about five tables inside and several other tables on part of the shared outside patio. They are next to Starbucks. You enter the restaurant through the back door. There is parking in the lot behind. They do a lot of takeout and delivery. They've been at this location about 4 years, but used to be located near the pompano main post office. We had lunch at this location which is close to home and to errand destinations today. We both looked at the menu and found Lunch Specials in the lower left corner of the printed menu. (Note: If you order a beverage, they bring a bottle of soda, which is NOT the soda that is paired in the Lunch Specials. A smaller can soda is the one paired with the specials. Luckily I asked about the soda and they took the larger unopened bottles back and brought us cans.) Worth a stop! We found this place by accident when looking for a different restaurant and we were very pleasantly surprised. The thin crust pizzas are great. They also have thick crust, hand tossed, and even Detroit style, but those are for a future visit. We ordered one veggie pizza and an anchovy pizza. Both pizzas had generous amounts of toppings. All veggies are hand cut by the owner each day. The sauces for the pizza and for the pastas are rich and also homemade. The lasagna with garlic bread is also outstanding. We talked with the owners who both immigrated to the USA and opened their restaurant about 18 years ago. Valentino's is more of a pizza place than it is an Italian restaurant though it does have some rather good selection of Italian dinners, all reasonably priced. I had their Veal Francaise while others had their pizza. To my surprise, the veal was indeed properly prepared, tender, nicely breaded and with a good lemony zesty flavor. My dinning companions were also pleased with their pizza, but I have to disagree with my fellow Yelper in that Valentino's is far, far distant from being a Five Star Italian dinning experience. It's a relatively new place but a sort of hole in the wall stuck in between a Starbucks and close by surf shop. It offers a rather plan, exceedingly simple lacking in décor indoor dinning, a couple of televisions, some old background music of long departed Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra and an outdoor patio type of seating some with rather uncomfortable concrete seats, typical Cizanno styled umbrellas and a view of South Federal Highway along with its annoying traffic sound effects. For food at the price they are offering it, it's OK, Three Stars, but for ambiance, Two; overall I guess I can go three, but in an area with so many Italian dinning and pizza choices, I'd say that there are better alternatives. read more

This is our absolute favorite pizza place! We drive 30 minutes each way to go hear, and it's always worthwhile. We've been ordering their thin & crispy pizzas for 20 years, and started ordering from them after trying a sample of their pizza at a work event. We were hooked! Never had thin and crispy pizza that's so good - perfect crust, wonderful sauce, quality cheese. We started buying pizzas when they were Jetts, then they changed the name to Rocket Pizza, and moved to Valentino's a few years back. We love the new location - very comfortable. The couple that owns the place is so nice. It doesn't matter if it's been six months since I've been there, the lady owner immediately recognizes me, and remembers what we order! I just picked up a perfect tasting pizza from Rocket Pizza. When I called it in I asked for no salt to be added because someone complained in a review about the salt. They are a little pricey but honestly for its quality it's well worth it. When I want to order a pizza this is my go to spot! Now after all that bragging on the pizza I must be honest and say I do not like the garlic knots. It always comes too greasy and oily and it's just un-edible for me. This is the second time we have received the wrong order for takeout & the food that was sent instead was downright deplorable. The garlic rolls still had raw dough inside, as shown in the picture; the meatballs were burnt & bland; the penne a la vodka (which was supposed to be penne a la vodka roma - with bacon in a creamy pink sauce) looked like baked ziti & tasted as though somebody poured a bottle of cheap vodka over soggy pasta and lit it on fire. Came here when all the water was shut off in Fort Lauderdale. Was one of the first restaurants I spotted north of the affected area. Something about a small place like Rocket @ Valentino's that makes you feel like you're in a simpler time that never really existed. Or maybe it was the kind, chatty, welcoming woman doing literally everything on her own from pizza maker to cashier. She was probably my favorite part, treated everyone in the place like close family. The whole experience was relaxed, easy, no frills, comfortable. Loved my meatball sub, the fries were perfect, and I have to say that tiramisu was off the chain. Def recommend this place for the real deal small business feel. Lots of seating, especially outside. I was skeptical of this place even though it's been down the street from me for a while. I bit the bullet and ordered today. I have just had an amazing pizza experience. I like pizza with some girth on it, so I ordered the Sicilian with mushrooms and green peppers. When the delivery guy came, it was a really heavy box...always a good sign. I cracked open the box and it was still nuclear hot. What was nice was there was a small garlic knot right in the middle of the pizza. It seemed like it was there instead of that little plastic thing, so points for creativity! I dug out a corner piece and bit in, immediately noticing the crispiness of the crust underneath. Sometimes, when you get a Sicilian, it's too "bready", but this wasn't anything like that. The crust almost reminded me of puff pastry with the way it sort of crunched and melted at the same time. Sometimes, pizza places are kind of chintzy with the cheese and toppings, but that's not the case here. I was considering extra cheese and I'm glad I didn't do it! Any more cheese on here would have been a complete mess. The peppers still had a bit of resistance to them and the mushrooms were neither too dry or soggy. I've ordered Sicilian from places before, and I get that the sauce is a little different than normal pizza. This place hit it spot on, nailing that perfect balance between tangy and slightly sweet. OK. My wife and I are on the way home from a date and we decide that we are hungry. We call the place at approx. 11:35 and get off the phone at 11:40 p.m. we ordered a medium pizza and garlic rolls for delivery. We were told it would be at our house in 30 minutes. That should be 12:10am... At 12:30 we call them back and say, "hey what's going on?" the guy on the other side says, " oh yea I got distracted and your pizza got burned so I just put another one in, it should be done in 7 minutes." So with it taking another 7 minutes to cook and another 15 to drive to deliver it the pizza would have been about 45 minutes late. We just said forget about it we don't want it anymore. The guy just said OK and hung up the phone. So the food might be good, but the service was so horrendous we never even got to try it. I will never call them back. read more
