We parked and walked through the park and learned about the history of the place. It's all dated back to 1847. There was a huge oak tree planted here which died in 1987 and was cut down. The Oak of Peace played an important role in the history of California. it's a historic spot to be at it feels very serene here beautiful trees and plants all around picnic tables and restrooms available I also learned that you can rent it out and do private parties here. How nice would that be, specially kids birthday parties where they can be in nature, explore and run around. Very lovely find.

The house Itself wasn't here originally but was moved from 921 East Wilson in 1980 and restored by The Glendale Historical Society. Built around 1888, the Doctors House is one of Glendale's two remaining Queen Anne-Eastlake style Victorian homes. I haven't been inside the house where it now houses a museum as it's only open Sundays from 2-4pm with the last tour at 3:30pm on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, even not being able to enter the house itself, I admired the beauty of its architecture just looking from outside as well as the pretty gazebo in front of the house.

Built in 1892 by Henry C. Banker for Edgar and Alletia Goode, it is now the community center for Ivy Glen Apartments as a detached structure in front of the Complex. Thank you city of Glendale for preserving this magnificent structure as it is a shining example of our history and our willingness to preserve it.

The territory is incredibly well maintained, with huge mature trees, beautiful flowers, fountains, mini waterfalls, and small ponds where you can see fish and turtles. There is also a lovely grassy area in the center where you can sit, relax, or have a small picnic. Geese walk freely around the gardens, and colorful parrots fly overhead, adding even more charm to the atmosphere. In April, the garden looks especially stunning -- the pergola and trees are in full bloom (I wish I remembered the names of those gorgeous flowers!), and the whole place feels alive and magical. Honestly, this garden is beautiful in any season of the year. You can come here with dogs, which is a big plus, but it's important to respect the property rules: pets must be on a leash, owners are responsible for cleanup, professional photography requires a permit, and activities like skateboarding, drinking alcohol, or organized sports events are not allowed. These rules help preserve the calm and cleanliness of the space. There is also a secondary school located on the property, which adds to the unique character of the place. Parking-wise, we were able to find free street parking nearby without any issues. This is a perfect spot to slow down, enjoy nature, and escape the city noise for a while. Highly recommended for a peaceful walk or a quiet moment surrounded by beauty.

They have various memorabilia for sale both in the store and via the Internet, which include their movies, books, games, apparel, and other accessories. There is also a serious research library on the premises, and a collection of props and other arcane items all related to Lovecraft's work. This is a great stop for anyone that is a serious Lovecraft fan! Not to be missed...

Totally shocked to spot this treasure across the street while walking to Mambo's for Cuban food…read morenear Victory & Western. Had to check it out. Has a very cool lived-in vibe that reminds me a bit of the Theosophy headquarters in Hollywood, the Museum of Jurassic Technology or maybe an old Christian Science Reading Room. Lots of cool books on display, t-shirts (naturally), varsity jacket and other memorabilia from Miskatonic U, college pins, Lovecraftian activity book and many other items for sale. The proprietor came out from the stock room and was very friendly. I was inspecting a drop in temperature or blown out candles, but he actually seems like a fairly well adjusted horror fan, surprise, surprise. The brochure says the organization has been around since 1986. They've been at this location for about a year. I bought a couple of Cthulhu Fish for the bumpers of my kid's beat-up cars. Wildfires had left the hillsides bare and unable to absorb the torrent of water. Seeking shelter in the American Legion Post 288 at the corner of Rosemont and Fairway were 12 citizens, including Red Cross Volunteers, that were swept away by the torrent of mud as the mountainside collapsed. This monument marks the site of this tragic event. This is just a sad story about a mentally ill man and some clueless investors, nothing more. On the night of December 6, 1959, Dr. Harold Perelson struck his wife to death with a hammer and…read morethen severely beat his teenage daughter in the mansion located on a Los Feliz hilltop. The daughter was able to escape and run to a neighbor's home and call police. Meanwhile, Dr. Perelson proceeded to kill himself by drinking a glass of acid. Since this incident in 1959, the 1925 Spanish Revival mansion has remained vacant and perfectly untouched. If you were to peer through the windows of the home you would see that the Christmas tree, the presents, and the interior décor have remained just as it did the night of the murders. A few months after the murders the home was sold at auction to a couple who used the home mainly for property storage. After they died around 1994 the property was passed on to their son who has continued to keep the property as is.
