Horrible service, I bought a second Groupon after I used their services over a year ago only to find out they tried to charge me following the use of my Groupon stating I owed a balance?! Even though I never went in once it was redeemed to make matters worse they tried to say they wouldn't accept my Groupon "terms and conditions" when Groupon encourages you to buy two and there are no terms stating this. I have never encountered this problem at ANY tanning place I've attended. Avoid at all costs. Edit: I am not sure how the pricing of YOUR Groupon should affect my response to this? It was not clearly labeled and this canned response does not help clarify the experience I've had. ESPECIALLY the "balance" the employee tried to get me to pay for services I didn't use and a membership I didn't ask for. So no your copy and paste response doesn't help. But I hope my response helps others stay away from your company at the very least. read more

I payed them and told the girl working named Bella that I had never done a spray tan before... she took my money then explained to me how the process worked... when I asked if it would mess up my eyelash extensions she said yes so I said I did not want to do it and she refused to give me my money back... saying no refunds but I didn't even get any service provided. I went here for the first time and it took a while to get checked in because the girl at the desk was new. I told her it was fine everyone is new qt some point. But then I saw she had a 3% tattoo and am mad at myself for not leaving! I'm hoping the management here wasn't aware of the meaning of this tattoo because it's really disgusting! THE STORE IS SUPPOSED TO OPEN AT 8 AM M-F!!! Yeah right! In the last month, I have gone on THREE separate occasions to tan, arrived between 8:18-8:35 am, and noon one has been on site. I used to use rockstar tan about 8 years ago when I worked down the street. I have a trip coming up and checked out Groupon for any tanning specials and found a 3 month for $40 plan, which is great pricing. Called Rockstar Tan and accidentally got the south county location. Spoke to a woman down there and explained that I used to go to rockstar tan about 8 years ago and found that the Groupon said new clients only. She said that it had been so long since my last visit that she would honor the Groupon and treat me like a new customer. Just walked into the Costa Mesa location and they said they wouldn't honor it because I've been a client.....even though it was 8 years ago. During a time when indoor tanning use is at its ultimate lowest and the economy is taking a nose dive, it's hard for me to imagine that they wouldn't honor their Groupon and they would actually turn me away. I drove 15 minutes to this location because I was told they would honor it. While this business has been here for a long time, it's amazing to me that a business would accept a reimbursement of 50% of their Groupon pricing ($20 for 3 months), obviously reflecting poor sales and low client retention and yet still have the balls to turn down business. Making poor business decisions is most likely the reason they are desperate for business and have such low pricing on Groupon to begin with. Hoping the owners read this and realize that while I'm a small fish, how many of us are they not offering their "special pricing" to and losing on net sales? It's a shame. But lesson learned. It's clean and the folks are nice. The prices are high though and wasn't prepared for that part, since the signs on the window says something different. You have to pay significantly more if you don't sign up for a membership. I bought the same lotion on amazon for a fraction. The beds/stand up seem to be pretty strong though which is good!!! Easy to park and close to other things to eat etc. love the clean up bar or whatever it is in the back so you can freshen up. Overall, it's pretty nice, just expensive. read more

Got a membership a while back but never went because of the rude attitude I've received. I called on 11/24 to cancel my membership but I'm guessing it was to busy because the woman I spoke to just asked me for my name and that was it. I called again on 11/25 and spoke to a VERY rude employee named Nicole. She gave me attitude from the very beginning of the call and was no help at all. I told her I was NEVER informed from whoever wrote my name down that I had to cancel my membership in person and that I wasn't to fond of her attitude I would rather much speak to the manager instead and I wanted the company number, SHE LAUGHED and told me to call tomorrow morning and speak with Emma the manger, and that she didn't know the company number. Would not recommend AND encouraged those I signed up with to cancel as well! read more

Usually I would give them a 4-5 but after speaking with the manager who was so unhelpful, I give up on this place. Bad taste. I bought my 87 yr old dad a Groupon for a tan. The gift Groupon would not print. I tried 3 different ways and didn't work. Dad does not have a smart phone. Called and asked the manager if I give her the redemption code and Group on number and my name if she would help out my dad and honor it without the physical copy. NOPE. I asked if I could text the bar code and receipt from Groupon to the manager with the details and she said Nope. So I canceled it the group on. Poorly handled especially since I have been a customer for years. And to have a "manager" be such a snot in her way of handling says a lot about the level of professionalism of the kids they hire. I am serious when I say kids. I'm irked. Not cool at all. And could have been handled professionally and you would have my dads and my business. No wonder it's always empty there. read more

I have been tanning at rock star for several years.. the customer service was never great but has deteriorated beyond believe.. ownership and management which seems non existent needs to staff correct and train in basis customer service The last month the reception has her 2 year old child with her... she's so stressed out is unbelievable! Bulbs are broken in the beds and no one cares to replace them. Don't come to this location.. just teenagers working and will try to charge you to a new bed without telling you... someone needs to either close this location or fix the issues and stop scamming people. read more
