This small cemetery is located several miles outside of Johnson City down a small pothole ridden road. It is nestled in the quiet Texas Hill country punctuated by the sound of chickens. In other words, it's in the middle of nowhere. There is a nice small community church in front with a 4 foot perimeter fence around the entire site. The cemetery itself sits on less than an acre and is still an active with some recent interments. There are a number of headstones from the late 1800s with a lot of new ones mixed in. The cemetery has a lot of history but the church is what excites me. My congregation will be moving into it soon and we are excited to be the biggest church in Hye, Texas (ok so it is the only) but the history of the cemetery and church is rich and it is in great condition.
