Not terrible. Not near 5 stars though, as other recent reviews give it credit for…read more Nowhere near what old Tim said a few weeks ago. "Rivals upscale New York hotels", my ass, it does. Probably 4 stars.... That's what I would say with no outside agitators, but I got locked out of my room because the key would not open my door TWICE in 18 hours. I find that extraordinarily frustrating. You drop one star for that. The first time was when I checked in. I dropped off my luggage in my room, and went to park my car. Got back to enter to get ready for dinner... Nothing. The second time was at 6:15 in the morning after I was walking on the treadmill and all sweaty. Both times I had to go back down and get new keys. Ugh. This has never happened anywhere I have stayed before. For credits sake... The place was once a really nice hotel. Time has taken its toll for sure. It needs a renovation badly. Quick search yields this info: The Alluvian Hotel in Greenwood, Mississippi, originally opened in 2003 following an extensive gut renovation and remodeling of the historic 1917 Hotel Irving. The property underwent updates to its lobby to refresh the space, but no full-scale structural remodeling or renovation project has occurred since its initial creation. Nothing done in 23 years.... That checks. Lobby looks pretty good and the event space did us just fine for the outing we had there. Room was cleanish. I imagine the best it could be. I am a bit hotel snobbish so take all this as you will. The oldness of it shows on stuff like the shower door hinges being rusty and the glass on the door hazy and unable to see through in most spots. The thermostat was retro baby! The carpets were dirty and worn. Overall, just dated. I get it. It's in Greenwood, MS and it's most definitely the nicest place in town for sure. It's located right across the street from the Viking Cooking School and what appears to be the corporate headquarters for Viking Appliances. Bed was comfortable at least. Old ass thermostat and AC worked like a champ! It was about 61 when I woke up and my wrist temp overnight was a full half degree below average. Take that utility bill! Food was not that good. I had breakfast and lunch there. I didn't eat much of it. I am also a food snob it seems. Everyone else seemed to enjoy it, so that probably is all on me. Will I ever return? Who knows? It may be in the stars. Guess who won't be paying for it if I do?? '26 - 71

Additionally, the rooms are nice, much nicer than the older photos listed on here. I've included some updated ones I've received as the hotel has been nicely renovated. The workout room and breakfast are also reasonably nice. They had freshly made eggs and sausage nicely heated. However, there are a few inconveniences one might experience if they stay here. First, the elevator is still broken and has been for quite a long time. I believe one person from six months ago (so at least that amount of time) also mentioned this. There is also no timeline on when this will be fixed. If you have difficulty with stairs or a lot of heavy things to carry this might prove to be quite the inconvenience. The staff does do their best to get you on the first floor if needed, however, it is not always possible! Second, one of the rooms I stayed in had a broken sink that would spit water out sideways. This was definitely inconvenient and would flood the counter whenever I used the sink. Other than that room all the other rooms I stayed in were great. The shower head is also quite tall and anyone under 5'3 may have difficulties adjusting it. Lastly, the price is definitely up there around 170s on average making it one of the more expensive hotels in the state. For that price point you'd definitely expect things like a working elevator.

This has got to be the worst stay in any hotel that I have ever experienced. Checked in with Hilton…read moreHonors. Get here, the elevator is broken and has to be replaced. I am on the third floor. There was no forewarning when I booked. Ice machine broken on third floor, no ice machine on second floor...had to go down the stairs to the first floor. Keep in mind that I am almost 70 years old. No compensation offered and when I asked, before I could finish the sentence, the answer was a resounding NO!! No matter how many rewards I get, I will never stay at this establishment in Greenwood again...Not what I expected at over $180.00 per night...

When he stopped back to pick it up, they could not find it. So he stopped by again on his way home and they still could not find it. The manager/asst mgr wrote down his name, number and mailing address and stated she would mail to him. That was three weeks ago and he never heard from the manager. I tried to call at least nine times earlier this week and no one picked up neither was there voicemail. Since we got the run around, we had no other choice than to file a complaint with corporate. The manager responded with the same response to corporate that she gave over a month ago that once they located it they would mail it. This is highly unacceptable - Not only do we not get call backs but the belt is yet to be found. Either it is missing or stolen. At any rate, we still have not heard back from the manager. I called her direct line the other day. She texted back and said she would call when she returned to the office. I never received a call. This is very unprofessional, frustrating and time consuming. Simply put, the belt should be replaced.

The backroad leading to the hotel is very small for a two car lane by otherwise it was easy to locate hotel. Several posted signs regarding social distancing and mask usage.

Great service with kind people, the room was in good condition and the bathroom was very clean with no sign of any bug life in existence like the other review stated. The beds were also checked for bed bugs as the other review claimed there to be some and i found none. I didn't get a chance to try the breakfast with me waking up too late sadly. But if it is anything like the rest of the hotels quality im sure it was great, i will definitely be back for another stay!

The 2nd day they did not clean my room, and I after I inquired as to why, they said because I had stuff on my bed. Then finally I go to check out and requested to pay in cash and was told by a manager I could not. Again I was confused, because I initially held the hotel on my credit card but wanted to switch payment and he said I couldn't because I didn't pay with cash when I first came in. So then I asked him to be sure I understood, I could of initially paid with cash and not held it on my card for security purposes and he said yes. Which is the policy of no hotel anywhere, ever. You will def get a room at this place but don't expect any type of customer service.
