It is definitely the prettiest, greenest, most walk worthy cemetery I've ever seen! We stopped by the visitor center where a staff recommended a particular way to walk to the Washington tower in the middle and to see Isabella Gardner's grave by Auburn lake. We appreciated the windy, cloudy day with glimpses of sun for our adventure today. Several tombstones were guarded by statues of a favorite family dog. Many were clearly family plots. We climbed up the many winding stairs of the Washington tower for a breathtaking 360 degree panoramic view of Boston and of the greenery below. We'll be back! We only spent an hour here today but could've easily stayed 2-3 just exploring. Highly recommend!

(I walked from campus in 20 minutes.) When you walk in, pop into the main building to use hr restroom and pick up maps of the cemetery. You'll learn the cemetery is the first one in the country intentionally designed as a garden/arboretum too. The map will guide you to monuments and memorials and notable burial sites to abolitionists like Charles Sumner and poets like Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. If it's open in the warmer months, climb the Washington Monument for a view of the city. It's closed during the winter, but the hill it's on still offers unobstructed views.

The wake/memorial was amazing, their staff were always nearby but "invisible" - just out of sight. On the morning of the funeral everything went off without a hitch. Every detail was just right including putting the "US Army" insignia on the hearse and providing us a TV with HDMI input for us to present our slide show of the best photos. Everything we requested was done right and was done quietly and quickly. Props to TJ and Lou and the other fine folks at Doherty's, it was a beautiful send-off for our member of the Greatest generation.

We had initially thought the meeting was going well and they were understanding our personal requests. When we asked a few clarification questions to make sure the funeral would abide by our religious and cultural customs, the guy that was helping us all of the sudden said that the funeral director was not available at the date we request (despite stating earlier that the director would be available on our requested date). And then he shut down the conversation. My family left the building, but my aunt went back to retrieve a pair of glasses that were left behind. When she returned to the building, she heard the employee that was helping us stating that we were cheap and did not want to spend money on our passed relative. We felt very disrespected at such a trying and vulnerable time. We would never give our business to a place that disrespects their clients in such a manner. We felt as if our culture and religious customs were being disrespected. It was borderline racist. Would never come here again.

In the case of my cousin, who died unexpectedly in his 30s, the tragedy was even greater. The circumstances and logistics involved in arranging for a very small friends and family gathering were significantly more complex, but Timothy, Keefe, and the entire team at Keefe Funeral Home went above and beyond to support our family. My only face-to-face contact was with Timothy, and all I can say is what a delightful, authentic and truly warm and caring individual. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for an extraordinary funeral home.

I had gone in months prior to prep with my sister but by the time it happened they remembered my choices & had them ready to confirm no changes. My sister was worried about costs so had opted to remove some options & they worked with us within budget. (My mother passed from Cancer and her insurance did not cover the private care we covered out of pocket so she wanted to ensure we did not get into more debt.) The option for wake from 3-7 was ideal on a Sunday night and Church at 11. My mother passed on Thursday but Arlington cemetery requires 2 days for which they originally said they were not going to accommodate us with burial Monday. Timothy drove down there to talk to a manager and was able to get us Monday after all. I wish I had taken all names of those that partook in our Wake & funeral services but Id like to whole heartily thank them all for such class & service. Everything was organized and not one hiccup for a loss we were not ready for at any age! Thanks again Tim, and everyone who was part of our mothers services - stellar support and true professionals. Our family would not recommend any other funeral home for such a delicate time and you need full coordination. God Bless you all
